Hula Hooping

Hi everyone! I just purchased a hula hoop with a weight of 3 pounds from academy. I really enjoyed it, but the next day the left side of my stomach was too sore for me to hula hoop. Has anyone else had this problem? If you have a fitness hula hoop, what weight do you use?

Even a non weighted hoop will cause tenderness when used vigorously without building up the abs for it slowly. Your gut is inherently vulnerable area of your body. Hooping is a blast, and a great work out. I would just mix it up, use some lighter hoops, and also practice hooping around your hips more

What gains can I get from hula hooping? How long should I go for?

You will get used to it, just stick at it. It stops hurting but because of the tenderness it makes you constantly tense up. Good for the abs!

Yeah the pain/bruising is fairly short lived. I hoop occasionally and it hasn't come back.
