SAY "NO" TO LATE NIGHT SNACKING -- JUNE 2016 CHALLENGE

Tired of self-sabotaging by munching after dinner? Upset that you double your in-calories at night? Then it's not just me . To get some help (or inspire us by your good example), please join us in this challenge.
You set what you feel is late night snacking. For example, if you have extra calories left for the day, you can have a snack if it's small. Others decide not to eat at a past a certain time. It's up to you.
We go by the formula:
Me: "number indicating how many evenings you stuck to it"
LNS: "number of times late night snacks won"
Example: Me: 2 - LNS: 0 indicates I won the first two nights.
Some people also add a * to the latest number. In the example, that would be
Me: 2 - LNS: 1*
if LNS won the 3rd night.
It's as simple as that. Or as complicated, as you will discover. Nevertheless, the persistence and good results of some of our "old" members (and some people keep coming back) show that the battle is worthwhile .

Well they say (whoever "they" is lol) that one is more likely to hold themselves accountable if they make themselves accountable to someone else too. With that being said - one of my main issues is late night snacking...so as I gasp and hit send - I'm in! Thanks6

Thanks @lamlam2013 for setting up a new month. April I did okish, May turned out to be dismal. I need to make June work for me. I'm planning on hitting my goal by the end of this month and I know that this accountability will help me immensely

Welcome, @SashEdwards and other new friends.
I want to "Amen!" your "they-ism" about accountability. Having spent a lifetime thinking it was "normal" to graze my way through the kitchen, disciplining myself not to eat after a certain time was completely foreign to me. My bride had long since given up trying to encourage (often pronounced "uh-noi") me into healthier habits.
The accountability and encouragement from this group of friends has helped me begin to overwrite 50+ years of bad habits. I wish I had more maturity (character?), but... Many evenings, the thought of having to "come clean" to my accountability partners here heads me off before I make it to the snacks. This group is one of the most encouraging, sympathetic, and caring communities you could find! We're glad you joined us.7 -

I need this. What an awesome idea! Thank you for starting this group. I think this is where my problem lies. I take sleep medication and don't hit the bed right away. I rummage the refrigerator and eat a LOT!! Please count me in.4

I'm in! Because I am also doing IF--with eating windows --this challenge will together with it nicely. Starting June 15

I'm terrible at thinking I have to have a dessert or sweet snack before bed. I usually eat a late dinner because my family goes for a walk when I get home from work. But, I think now that the sun is up later, we may eat dinner first then go walk closer to sunset.
Still I usually start to look for the cookies or even chocolate chips around 9 when my son has gone to bed...ugh. So I think I'm going to stick with a cut off time of 9 and only have a sweet snack after dinner if I have the extra calories for the day and it's before 9. This will give me some allowance for those days I've worked out hard and want something sweet after dinner. But nothing after 9.

Lol, well I can certainly relate to the accountability and years of terrible habits needing to change. For the first time ever I started tracking everything that went into my mouth yesterday - and what an eye opening experience it was. How misinformed and uneducated I was - thinking I was doing so good, and yet not losing weight. It all sort of came together for that magical "Aha" moment.
Strength is in numbers, and we can all do it - so good luck to us all.
I practiced for June 1 last night lol and I'm pretty shocked how all of a sudden it was not as difficult to say no to the late night snacks. I'll ride that wave as long as I can....I know it's not going to be easy.

Do people find that the later you go to bed the more you snack at night? Cause I do. I think I need to start going to bed at a decent time.7

-Stay consistent with BOTH eating and exercise.
-Stay within calories 7 days a week by logging.

June Goals:
No eating after 7:00 pm. Still sticking with my cup of decaf tea after dinner if it's before 7:00. The later daylight hours are going to be the biggest challenge for me but will keep doing my best to have dinner on the table no later than 6:00. Used to be 5:00 but adjusting it for summer.
Good luck to old and new members! Just knowing this challenge is a part of my life has kept me from LNSnacking because I know I have to be honest with logging in every day. I don't want to ruin my streak now, summer or not!4 -

Well yesterday I had lots of LNSnacking because I couldn't sleep and kept awake for along time. So I think I'm going to drink a tea before crushing the bed!

This has become a real problem for me, as well! I'm in! I seem to wake once, usually twice a night after 12. If I snack, I ruin my appetite for breakfast in the morning. I don't want to find myself munching past 12!5

I'm in too! Unless my stomach is rumbling, I do not let myself eat after 8PM. If I am legitimately hungry then I keep it healthy and I eat slowly. If I'm mindlessly eating after 9PM then I will say that late night snacking won. Hopefully that will be a rare occasion from now on!
