Why I Post my Exercise and Gym Check-ins on FB

Wow, I can't believe this post stirred up so many comments!
Good gosh, do what you want friend - you do not need anyone's approval. This is the good ol' U S of A, land of the free, home of the brave!! Do what motivates YOU - that's what matters. . .2 -

Workout, keep your mouth shut, let the results say whatever they say. It isn't motivating anyone, nor you. It's showing off. It's self-centered.
Instead, try using facebook to not talk about yourself. Talk about how awesome other people are. Make yourself interesting by not talking about you. Try it. you might learn that more people will be attracted to your page, and to you. Self-centered people are boring and have no imagination. Our society is turning to be very self-centered, and it's so much so that people don't even see it anymore.
Let me ask you something. Do you post when you poop? Why not?
This is just about one of the dumbest things I have ever read. Clearly she said earlier it wasn't for attention. Therefore, she doesn't need to change how she posts for attention. Not everyone has to pretend to be someone else to get people to like them... But you can do that if it makes you happy. And she can use her FB to post about herself if it makes her happy.
Don't you guys even stop to think how negative and condescending you are? What is the point of being alive if we have to fit into everyone else's little bubble of what a person should and shouldn't do? Does posting about her life about what is important to her and makes her happy dilute your life and happiness in the least? NO!
OP post whatever you want. It is your life. Don't even address it, don't even care. Just unfollow and unfriend all the *kitten* who think they know better about what you should post. Be you, always. This world is already too full of hateful people who want to control others, be free and be happy.
If it's not for attention, why the need to post THIS piece of crap it at all? Who cares if other people think it's annoying? Do your regular posts and get over yourself.
Who cares? Get over yourself and let people do what they want? Why does it matter to you so much? Are you the protector of facebook? Got to make sure people aren't getting too much attention or living their life too much?
I could ask you the very same questions about your ardent white knighting of the OP.
All I said what that OP should post whatever she wants on FB, realizing it might annoy people. You cannot control if people find your behavior annoying - you can only control your behavior. If you don't want to be annoying, then posting pathetic "LOOK AT ME" defenses to your "LOOK AT ME" posts is probably the wrong way to go about it.
Because I like people. I think everyone should be happy. I think people should post what they want as long as it isn't hurting anyone else. Like be respectful, don't post porn. But wanna post you run? Post it. Wanna show off your doggies and kitties? DO IT! Want to tell the world you made awesome spaghetti and then dropped it on the floor on accident? DO IT!
Plus I never told her to post the message. I said don't do it. So I don't know why you're acting like I am defending the post. I'm defending her right to post whatever she wants. And I really just hate people being all negative and attacking and trying to make her feel stupid. Like you can tell people you're opinions without insulting them and trying to make them seem dumb. To me it's just stupid how mean people are.2 -
Oddly enough, I am not annoyed by the OP. It kinda feels like the criticism is a bit of people looking for something to be annoyed about. And no one does annoyed better than me, so I am somewhat conflicted. OP wants to post her workouts on faceboook? Ok. People want to be annoyed that she created a thread to tell everyone that she posts her workouts on facebook? Ok. I guess what I'm trying to say, to the entirety of this thread is...
Winner of the thread for posting a NewsRadio meme.0 -

I hide all gym people from my wall because they annoy the F out of me and I work out all seven days.
Over-indulgence on one aspect of life is a telling sign of a severe lack of something else. It is a form of insecurity and you should be careful of not outing it. Wise up and post some cat pics.
I do post other things on my page. I think that's why it has me so irritated.
I never post gym stuff. Never post selfies. I never humble brag. At times I whine about my dead father, that is it and I do share some difficulties from the past. Anything about the gym, too many selfies, incessant public lovey dovey of the spouse... it tends to annoy people.
Also social media is a reflection of mental state. If you over-indulge, it is a clear sign of insecurity. There is this guy who writes a novel for his girlfriend every week. Everyone knows he is trying to re-assert himself coz the relationship is rocky.
Is there anything one can post on Facebook that isn't considered annoying by some other people?
Apparently all you can post is really mindless memes. If you post anything about your real life or try and be happy, then bam everyone hates you.
Well. That depends. Are these memes about running, triathlon, dogs or toddlers?
If not I'm probably going to eyeroll.
If my mom shares one more wine or growing old meme, I'm going to unfriend her. She doesn't even like wine.3 -
Great.... now IHitting the town this Friday! Birthday weekend!!!
I think 1st is going to be Iron Horse, they've got $6 beer and shot specials. After that we'll either do shorty's for cheesesteaks and pitchers or if people wanna head up town we'll hit up 123 burger shot beer. Final stop will be either Sapphire or Hustler!
Come out if you want to get trashed! I'll definitely be buying drinks!

Lap dances are $40 there but you can't beat Cigars on the rooftop.
Great, now I want a cigar and a lap dance and I'm stuck here 6 more hours.0 -

We each have our own methods that work/do not work for us. Keep up the good work!
This is completely me! I don't share my weight loss struggles/successes on Facebook. Nor do I post about my work outs. At this point, if I back slide(again) there is a small handful of people who know what I am working towards in IRL. I have opted to share progress photos on Instagram, because I have fewer followers on there. I have gotten all positive feedback.
Of course, I have a few friends who share when they are working out and things like that, but there aren't many of them. And I like seeing what they are up to.0 -

And that is why I have a private fitness page on FB. So my workout friends and I can post on there to keep ourselves accountable. Nobody cares if I did a half hour workout on the elliptical. But I can go on to my fitness page, type in what I've done and there you go, accountable without bugging people on my personal page0

Eh. I like it and don't regret it.
I keep in touch with people who love away, have reconnected with people, read interesting articles I never would have without a friend sharing them, hear about amazing races and trips that I am interested in. I also love the "on this day" feature. I look forward everyday to seeing past memories I forgot about.
Facebook is what you make it. I don't mind the kid pictures, selfies and workouts people post.
My biggest complaint is you can't turn off the "trending" column on the side. So much sad stuff I don't need to know. And I also learn far too much about which celeb dating/breaking up with who.
I didn't need to know that dude from a boy band took a picture under the covers wth his supermodel girlfriend. But I hear they broke up now.1
