What's the difrence between virgin olive oil and coconut oil?

I'm trying to cook my vegetables and meats in a much healthier way is using coconut oil much healthier and better then virgen olive oil?

They're both pure fats. Using coconut oil isn't healthier -- some people prefer the taste or the fact that you can cook it at a higher heat. It has saturated fat as opposed to olive oil's non-saturated. Some people are fine with increasing the amount of saturated fat in their diet, others are more cautious about it.
My take: choose the one that you prefer for taste and the heat you're cooking at.2 -

They are both amazing, use what tastes best to you and log it! Both oils have amazing health benefits, but too much is too much so count those food energy calories!0

I've found coconut oil is better suited for higher-temperature cooking and use EVOO for just about everything else. Since I don't cook well, I tend to do simple stuff. The gourmets among us may have different opinions, but that's what I do and why0

Both coconut oil and olive oil have their place in our diets. I prefer to cook with grass fed butter or coconut oil and use olive oils for salad dressings.1

EVOO - unsaturated fat, lower smoking point.
Coconut Oil - saturated fat, higher smoking point. Hugely popular with lots of unsubstantiated hype.

Coconut oil has a higher heat temp to cook in. I use cold pressed virgin olive oil, coconut oil, and avocado oil which is my prefrence and favourite to fry in. All are excellent oils to use though.0

Olive oil can turn into regular oil at high temperatures (you take out the benefits).
Use coconut oil for high heat cooking.
I now have to watch my saturated fat b/c of my cholesterol numbers (yes, it makes a difference).
From 200+ to 157 total.

Where I live even the most expensive evoo is cheaper than coconut oil.2 -

That thread has some good debate on saturated fats. It's reasonable to believe, that if 10-15% of your calories are from SFA, then it may not have an impact on cholesterol but there is a genetic component and you should be eating plenty of MUFA and PUFA fats as well.. There is one cohert study that would suggest the social of SFA is also important. Dairy having the highest benefit, then whole/unprocessed red meat behind that. But overall, the biggest impact on cholesterol will be body composition, exercise and genetics. Once you address those, then specific foods can push it to a better point.
OP, they are both good to cook with. I use coconut oil to fry up mozzarella sticks and olive oil for most cooking.0 -
