I see so many posts/discussions from people who have lost 50+ pounds, which is wonderful, but I only have about 10 lbs to lose but am 50 yrs old and the 10 lbs just doesn't want to come off. I sit at a desk all day, but do work out with a trainer 3 times per week and do eat pretty healthy. I lose motivation pretty easily so I need some help.

Get moving! Buy a pedometer and add steps at your break and lunch or before/after work. Find some stairs to climb or get off the bus/train a stop or two early. Dance in your kitchen, walk a friend's dog. 3 hours a week won't cut it if you sit the remainder of your day. Are you logging everything? Eating too much/ too little? Are you eating enough fiber and drinking enough water?2

Ok, first, 50 is only a number and is not an indication of what you can achieve. You can reach your goal and do more than you think you can! Second, from what I have learned, if the weight isn't coming off then maybe you need to change things up a little and introduce a different type of workout. And third, try to think more along the lines of muscle, strength, and how you are feeling rather than weight. Or at least don't make weight your only measurement of where you are.
At work, you might want to see if your company might look into standing desks.
Be happy to help if I can.

I'm 55 and have about 12 more lbs to lose sometimes it seems like they are the hardest but truth be told none of it is easy but it's achievable. If you've hit a plateau you may want to try switching things up (just a thought).0

Thanks for the suggestions. I have a new FitBit Alta on its way and Spring has begun where I live so I can get out and walk or bike after work. I know I need to make an effort to walk more during work also. I am very good at logging my food until I get home from work, then it kind of falls off. At least we don't really have much junk food in my house so my snacking when I walk in the door is on healthy things, but I know the calories can still add up.0

Snap! I'm in exactly the same position. I'm pretty sure it's doable though... well, I hope anyway!1
