I always start my training on Sunday. Second week of a new program. Hypertrophy squats, Power Bench, and some heavy *kitten* hip thrusts. You'd be surprised how long these 3 lifts take me to finish lol.

I'm friending you, purely for the use of hypertrophy

I take rest days, but apparently Hornsby doesn't. =)

I was just joking about my reply in that some people will automatically assume that no rest days = overtraining when that's not necessarily the case.

Depends entirely on how the program is structured.

    Ops! Quoted the wrong person!

    Rest days are needed. Fact.

2-3 mile run for me followed by a leg day. I need a good workout after dealing with terrible customer service at Walmart.

I don't lift everyday, but if you include cardio...nope, no rest day. Not usually anyway. Maybe one every three or 4 weeks. That being said, a moderate paced, 20-30 mile bike ride seems pretty restful to me.

Rest days are probably a good idea for most people.

However it's possible to structure a program in such a way that someone could train daily.

    Cardio before lifting?

I typically do, because I can't bring myself to do it after aside from my walk home from the gym. Which that in itself can feel like death after a hard workout haha.

Rest day. I am arthritic so these are essential to me. That said, I may do something very light like stretching-focused yoga on a rest day if I feel the desire to do some sort of body work.

20 mins treadmill with hand weights
    30 mins lifting

Plus the normal weekly laundry, cleaning, grocery shopping effort! Fell asleep on the sofa this evening :-) Pooped!
