Well, it happened again, my second case of heat exhaustion. (I had it a couple of years ago). This one was really weird. I was not working out in the sun like yesterday. I was in the sun yes, but I was watering plants. I suddenly felt nauseous and light headed, then the sudden profuse sweating. I made it back to the house and my mom put a cold towel on my head and ice packs all over me. I drank some Gatorade and started feeling better. Now just feeling weak and blah and still have a headache.
No joke, no messing around folks! If you live in a hot climate, don't push it, don't test limits. It can happen suddenly and little to no warning signs. I was hydrated because I had already had 64 oz of water earlier. Be careful out there, it's hot!0 -

I kept saying I would walk... but I feel very strange walking around doing nothing. Well I found a solution! A little neighborhood newspaper. My first day it took 4 hours and like to have half killed me, but I've stuck with it going on 3 weeks now and I got it down to 90 minutes, so not bad.
I'm tired and/or sore the days I don't do my route but that will improve, I hope!
Just returned and my step counter says 8153. I have friends who do 10,000 steps every day... and I struggle to do 8000 twice a week - but I guess we all have to start somewhere. Not bad for a 58 year old?
keep on walking!

Awesome!
As for the pacer? Not sure what kind you have, but I do know that several different kinds have been having issues with myfitnesspal. Garmin is one and fitbit is the other that I read about a good bit having issues. With the fitbit you have to make sure your steps are marked with fitbit under steps in the apps area.0 -

I just found this thread today. This is right up my alley. I started with eating better and exercising 1/27/16. It was slow in the beginning. I got pneumonia, bronchitis and a sinus infection all that the same time just prior to starting, felt better, went back on plan, then the illness reoccurred (never really was all the way better) in Feb. So essentially I had to detox twice. Not fun. I have a very bad knee from a car accident over 25 years ago. Excess weight has not helped matters. I started in Jan by doing laps (a lap) around the perimeter of my 3 acre yard. I progressively increased my endurance and stamina over weeks, increasing laps as well. I bought my Fitbit in April and have never looked back. Now I use my Fitbit to track my steps and my heart rate (LOVE THAT!) and that keeps me motivated. Some days are blah days and I don't do much. I guess that is true for most of us. I will most likely track my progress in steps and miles. Maybe even time per day. I also have a goal to participate in at least 1 5K walk per month throughout the warmer months. I started this in May and will go through Oct. or as long as it stays warm enough. Then I will do as much snowshoeing as the weather will allow here in VT. I do some HIIT workouts along with my walking but walking/hiking is my main activity. Thank you for starting this challenge. I would like to start by posting my Fitbit weekly report from the last 2 weeks as a means of "catching up" on starting 2 weeks into the challenge.
Week 1 5/30-6/5
39,141 steps/17.10 miles
Week 2 6/6-6/12
35,839 steps/14.86 miles
Week 3
6/13
5,513 steps/2.19 miles
6/14
8,658 steps/3.56 miles
6/15
5,980 steps/2.39 miles
Thanks again!

A very important NSV was met for me today! 3 months ago I had blood work done only to find out I was scary high in glucose and cholesterol and my doc wanted to put me on meds on the spot. I got him to agree to give me 3 months to see what I could do on my own since I had already had a few months under my belt of eating better and exercise. I wanted to see if it would make enough of a difference. Today I retested and EVERYTHING IS NORMAL!!! WOOHOO!!! I am so happy to have you all and to be able to share with you my positive outcomes! Thank you to each and every one of you!! Most importantly, thank you Lord!2 -

Im in - I am currently taking part in a challenge 10,000 steps a day for Grace (My niece that was stillborn on the 24th of March 2014). I started on the two year anniversary of her death (24th March 2016) so I've been doing 10,000+ steps a day since then. I am doing it to raise money for SANDS (still birth and neonatal death society) and have raised £620 so far!
If you like - have a look at my fundraising page - https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Sarah-Frost7
Add me on fitbit too! sarahjoyfrost@hotmail.co.uk!
