Does anyone just include a donut or some other "bad" food in their day to keep cravings in check or as a reward? still keeping within your calorie allotment for the day .

Food is neither good nor bad. Just calorie dense or not. And yes include treats into my daily calories.10

Yes, of course! I wouldn't be able to do this if I didn't treat my self every once in a while!! Just make sure to save enough calories for it and you'll be fine2

I don't think of donuts as "bad," they just have have a specific set of calories/macros that can sometimes make them difficult to fit into your day when you're losing weight. But it can be done. I had donuts when I was losing weight, I have them now when I am maintaining.5

not as a reward, as part of my regular diet - food is to be enjoyed - as long as you reach a balance and have a generally wide nutritious diet covering off the basics of adequate protein, fats and micro nutrients then eat what you like to eat
personally on a daily basis I eat a pack of chips (<100 cals) and ice cream (<100 cals) - yes both, and yes every single day virtually - generally cookies too (also around 100 cals.. the occasional doughnut (230 calories is ok to fit in) or other stuff - I'm in maintenance, when dieting I probably had one or other and not both
if I'm eating something particularly calorie dense I'll make room for it with other choices across the week4 -
Yes, I include donuts, cinnamon rolls, and other "forbidden" items. I just try to compensate on those days by cutting back elsewhere.0

I don't like donuts that much, I don't refer to any foods as "bad", I find eating trigger foods just increase cravings, and I don't use food as a reward. So no, not me.1

No food is bad, just having TOO much of it.
I enjoy the odd donut and make it fit in my calorie allowance.1 -
Same as everyone above. I don't view foods as good and bad, I don't use it as a reward, but I still eat things like doughnuts, Oreos, ice cream and pizza in moderation. I fit them into my calorie goal while focusing on eating a variety of other nutrient dense foods.0

And??? What significance do you attribute to that? Are you saying you don't really think they are bad? Them why use that phrase in the first place?2 -
I include junk food into my diet. Not as often when I am cutting. My favorite saying is, there are no bad foods, just bad diets. If the context of your diet is good, then a little junk food isn't going to hurt you.0

I have a donut on my "cheat" day. Usually on a Friday. Once a week isn't bad and it helps me stay on course cause I love donuts!!!! Also, I stick with a simple glazed or a french Cruller.0

If you want a doughnut occasionally and it fits your calorie/nutrient goals fine.
It's not a reward though. Food is what you give to your dog as a reward for doing a trick. People are better than that imo.1 -
Donuts are evil. I dream about them every day. Hot, greasy, and full of sugar. I don't eat them often because I want more than one. For me, when I allow myself a donut, it is a treat.0

This thread inspired me to have some Hostess donuts for breakfast. They fit into my goals and I should still be within my calories.6

If I can control myself with only eating one of a special treat I will always include it if it fits into my calories. There are certain things I know I can't control myself with so I just avoid them, like cookies.0

I usually have some kind of "treat" most days...not donuts because that's not my thing...but some kind of treat...it doesn't magically undo all of the other awesome nutrition I take in during the day.0

High calorie foods take planning for me but I fit them in! Plus, did you know you can buy just one donut hole at Dunkin Donuts? Really easy to fit in!2

Yes and no. I include all that passes my lips, but I realized (due to some test results I recently received) that I need to substantially change some habits. Good news is that the donut I'd been having for breakfast has been easily replaced with fat free cottage cheese and crushed pineapple!
However I still need coffee drink(s) in my day, so that takes some planning!0 -
It's usually not a donut because they're just too calorie dense and aren't satisfying enough for me, but yes I have sweets every day.0

I don't call any food bad because if you want it and it fits into your daily diary, then why the heck not?
Another word I don't use on my health journey is cheat. That word has such a negative connotation.
I eat what I want while on my journey. I make the choice what I eat and everything I choose, I enjoy I log it, it's done and I move on.3 -
If I want something I just work it into my daily goal. I really haven't given anything up. I just eat smaller portions of some things or have them less often.1

Donuts are totally "bad" for me. If there are half a dozen donuts in my general vicinity and no one else is eating them, you can bet they'll all end up in my belly. It may take a couple days but it'll happen.
Otherwise, a day doesn't go by that I don't have cookies, chocolate, some kind of pure carby stuff. I fit them in (and exercise to give me more calories so I *can* eat what I want).0 -

Pretty much this. I have ice cream or chocolate every night before bed. I just make it fit into my calorie goals.1 -
I think of doughnuts as bad, as in high calories, not the best nutritional value but tasty !0

I have a sneaky suspicion that lots of strict calorie counters do not include a donut in their day. Maybe one every two week or even less frequent. Donuts are too calorie dense and don't seem to worth the calories!!!!
Tell me I'm wrong, daily donut eaters!

I have seen daily ice cream but havent seen daily donuts. Personally i only do muffins or a chickfila milkshake every few weeks or once a month.0 -
Let's see..today I had a Rice Krispie treat and some Now and Laters while I was working out. I've also had a salted carmel candy and a couple of coffees with cream and sugar. I can't fit a whole dang donut in my diet every day but I have a treat every day for sure.2

Yes, alcohol. I don't crave foods with trans fats or nitrates like I did before my 70+ lb weight loss but a Margarita on a hot night is totally worth the empty calories. Sometimes a small peach milkshake, but that's definitely not a "bad" food, just calorie dense.0
