Any one else here struggling with Depression?

So.. I was diagnosed with Dysthymia, have been dealing with the symptoms since 2012, but just found out like a month ago I officially am depressed, and it makes sense because I gained like 100 lbs since then, and I am doing awful at college studying wise, and my life in general isn't that perfect, so I kind of need to lose all the weight again to start my life over, because I noticed that my weight and shape play a huge role in how I feel about myself and my life.. so if you are around my age -soon to be 25- and wanna lose around the same weight "80-100lbs" and are struggling with depression, please feel free to contact me hopefully we can help and motivation each other in a way or another.

I've lost my weight and am now maintaining but I've been diagnosed with major depressive disorder as well as borderline personality disorder so I understand your struggles. add me as a friend if you like.2

I've fought depression two years ago.

Depression and anxiety struggle daily
It helps when I do cardio daily and of course drugs
Take one day at a time sometimes just take one hour committ yourself to some activity1 -
I struggle with anxiety and depression too, I seem to be able to stick with a program when I am feeling ok, but when depression hits, everything goes. I know when I exercise it helps my mood, but I really need to push myself to exercise when I am really down. It is a vicious circle, and I have struggled with it, and my weight my whole life. Trying to get back on track now. Looking for inspiration and wishing everyone the best of luck with their journeys :-)2

I lost 180 lbs naturally and gained back 25 lbs in the last year due to binging as a method for coping with my depression. It's tough:/1

You're almost identical to me. I'm 25 now and gained 100lbs when I moved up to college and became incredibly depressed. I was diagnosed with Dysthymia, BPD, and AvPD. I currently weigh 250 (highest was 266) and I'm hoping to drop down to 145.
My depression gets the worse during summer which is both a curse and a blessing. Means I'm happier during the school year but when summer rolls around I can't get out of bed.

Dealt with depression for most of my adult life and still do to a certain extent. But it's amazing how much better a good workout can make you feel.
That's basically how I get through it. Keep on, keeping on and sweat it out.1 -

Wow good job on the 180 lbs, congratulations, and you can get it done you already proved you are strong, good luck with you depression and I hope you beat it very soon.. added you.

I am very sorry to know you are going through all this too.. I can relate to how you feel and how it is affecting your life and happiness, but it's how it is and we gotta deal with it if we wanna change anything, I added you, hopefully we can motivate each other to get moving and feel a little bit better to have the energy to diet, exercise and function in life normally, good luck my friend

Depression is the story of my life. People don't understand what a debilitating disease depression is. "Go exercise, you will fell better.". Right. I can barely get out of bed, and go to work.
I am doing better now that it is sunny, and warm. I cleaned up my house, and am working on my sleep schedule now. Exercise will happen next.3 -
Just got back on here determined to reach my goal. 3st to lose and the memory of how I felt then is going to spur me on.
Can't agree more with micky2942, it's the thing I want the most but why i dont end up getting it done is unexplainable to most.
I've just mapped out a year of baby steps rather than trying to tackle it by next week and hopeful it'll work. Best wishes0 -
Yeah me too. I take citalopram and have on and off for years suffered depression. It's horrible0

I've dealt with bipolar depression for 23 years, and I've struggled with my weight my entire adult life. So I'm right there with you. I'm gonna add you K?1

I struggled with it in the past - mainly when I was much younger. I now 'manage' it. I've been on meds before, diagnosed as manic - all those good things. But I can say, life can still be good and full....diet and exercise help me. I'm not saying I don't have episodes but I recognize when I am in a swing, the thoughts, etc and I begin to modify accordingly. I did find the meds seemed to mask and not actually deal with my problems as far as the swings, lack of energy, etc and so far the best treatment has taken years for me to develop as far as lifestyle changes.
Keep your head up - it really does get better as you learn yourself.1 -
I have isolated myself from family, friends, everyone because of my huge weight gain, much of it from a medication I was taking for depression. I am so self conscious about my weight. It is ruining my life, destroying my career.0

I have been battling with major depression for the past year. I have been diagnosed with major depressive disorder. I am so tired of people telling me that if I just go work out I will feel better. Most days I am so tired that I sleep for over 14hrs. Not because I want to, but because I honestly cannot keep my eyes open. To make things more intense I am a single mom and full time student. I failed my last semester and I can't get my doctor to listen to me. Everyone brushes me off and says that I am just tired because I am a single mom.
I have tried a few different medications and my newest one seems to help dull my anger (really the only emotion that I feel) but I seem to have gained 20lbs almost overnight.1 -
I have borderline personality disorder that comes with outrageous bouts of severe depression and crippling anxiety... I also have PTSD and I'm fighting cancer as a single mother. Life can SUCK sometimes but with a good support group we can live healthier lives and be happy. I am 24 and I am set to lose 150lbs, please feel free (anyone) to add me for support.0

does your area offer any advocacy services? maybe if you can get someone to go to your doctor with you and vouch for how you're feeling it might help you make some progress there.
