*!* JULY 2016 Walking Challenge *!*
This is continued from previous Monthly Walking Challenges, we are walking into the 7th month of the year *YAY Keep going!*. Each month has its own thread.
**** Anyone can join in at any time. The more the merrier, let’s keep each other motivated ****

Walking seems like the easiest way to start getting exercise, and even if you cannot track distance (or do not want to), tracking time is good too...go for a 10 min walk after dinner, or up it to 30 minutes, you will be amazed at the end of the month how much more exercise you are getting in. :)

Come back here and just post how far you walked, even if it was to the mailbox on a given day. The important thing is that you are moving and getting out (or if you walked in place in your basement to a video). Sometimes we need a little encouragement in order to do things in life.

Check in everyday with how far you walked or how long. This is just to motivate us to get in at least some exercise every day, and keep an eye on each other. Remember, you can track by steps, distance (miles or kilometers), time, etc.
RULES:
*no bullying
*no pressure
*just walking, dancing, stepping, hiking, anything to get you moving.
*just lace up the shoes and take a walk!
*anyone can join in at any time.

    I'm in! I just started walking for exercise in the last week. I'm going for 30 minutes 3X week at a minimum.

    I forgot it was July already! Didn't have my oxygen machine, had to stop and rest 3 or 4 times.
    I'm only going to walk on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays for now. I'll bring my oxygen next week, and see if I can do the full 10 minutes without my chest feeling like it's going to implode at 4 minutes LOL
    I don't even go that fast, either... just a mosey along ;) Gotta love heart failure!

    I've never joined one of these challenges before, but...

    July 1 I got 12k steps according to my Fitbit. That's the MOST I've ever gotten, and it was only the day before that I set my previous record of 11k. :)

    Can anyone tell me where on my Fitbit dashboard I can see my total steps for June? I'd like to have a comparison so that I can try to beat it.

    I also bought myself some stuff to make walking more comfortable. I got new shoes (my old ones were 4 years old!), sunglasses (mine broke), a hat to keep the sun off my face, and a new charger for my Fitbit Alta (the old one broke after only two months!!)

    Edit: I found the info I was looking for on Fitbit.com

    June Total: 168,863 steps | 61.37 miles

    July 1: 12,341 steps | 4.58 miles

    Think I'll aim for 20 miles a week, I think it's doable seeing I don't work over the summer. I've just got a dog so I'll have to go out whether i feel like it or not!

    July 2: 8,058 steps | 2.93 miles - I don't go for my morning walks on the weekends, but I did a bunch of extra walking around the hardware store yesterday so I'd have enough calories for my daughter's high school graduation dinner. :tongue:
