This is a photo of me at 24st 1lb, I'm not looking for sympathy or pity as I know I got myself into this mess but I really hate myself and the way I look, but hopefully this photo will motivate me to lose more weight as i've lost 7lb in 2 weeks.

You have to start with positive self talk. I always wondered why I wasn't seeing results and keeping them. It was because of the stuff I told myself. Stay positive! Have a great weekend and congrats on the results so far17

Just keep motivated mate you can do it!7

You can do it!! Chin up!!2

First, congratulations on starting!! That takes a lot more than you are giving yourself credit for. Second, keep reminding yourself why you are dong this and be active on MFP -- you can do it!16

You CAN do this! Welcome to MFP!7

^^^^^what everyone else above said is true!
You came here, under motivation and support and that is a huge step!
Are there other reasons you came here besides "hating yourself?" I mean obviously to lose weight but to get healthier, get ready to go on a vacation, recover from an injury, etc....just examples but maybe concentrate on those instead of the self hate. Easier said than done, I know!!!
7 pounds is awesome, so you must be doing something right! Baby steps and congrats on your loss!7 -
So you made some bad choices but here you are now taking the first step towards a better you.
Embrace that, embrace this supportive community, and do your best to get into the routine of meal tracking and general good dietary practices.
Don`t be so hard on yourself or you`ll stop before you start.13 -
7lbs is a great start and shows you that you CAN do this.
dont hate yourself, remind yourself that you are doing this becasue you ove yourself and want to be the best you you can be.

You may not like the way you look, you may not like the behaviour that got you to 24st...but you got to love yourself regardless. Loving yourself is what will give you the drive and commitment to do what you need to do.
You are have to a great start...but do work on the self like11 -
Please don't hate yourself. Keep yourself motivated and try your best, that is all any of us can do. As long as you are trying you are succeeding.5

You've made a great start!
Like everyone else said, don't be hating on yourself. Improving your health is one of the kindest things you can do for yourself, so treat your soul accordingly. Forgive yourself for the past and if you start getting into the "I've made bad choices" mindset just tell yourself, "But I'm making better choices now."5 -
I agree with everyone above....your body hears every word you say, and will react to that. Start saying "I WILL" instead of "I wish" and "I can't". To be positive, think about those 7 lbs...that is an amazing start!! We all start somewhere! YOU CAN DO IT, I did it, thousands of others on here did it, so you can too! Much love, please add me if you like! xo5

The beginning of every journey starts with the first step. The first step was knowing you need to make a change. Not hating yourself, use your energy for the journey and discovering how to change your bad habits. Go for a walk, if you walk 15 min today 20 min tomorrow and keep going till you are walking km at least a day, make good dietary choices, weigh all meals, eliminate all sugars, sodas and juices are out, no processed foods, eat as close to nature as you can. Log everything, remember if hiding food from MFP you are only lying to yourself, Friend people to support you. What happened yesterday is over, today we begin again, for a better tomorrow. It will take time, trust me I know, almost a year now on my journey, slow and stead wins the race.
Best of Luck, I know you can do it!

7 lbs is a great start but hating yourself does not do you any good. Your body does not define you. Good luck.4

Thank you everyone for your advice and support, I have been told by my wife that i'm too hard on myself and I need to stop it as i'm going to do myself damage but after seeing that photo of myself today really shocked me as I never thought of myself like that before.
I'm just not happy and don't know what I can do, I am disabled with chronic back pain and use a walking stick when I go out a few weeks ago I had to go to the doctor who referred me to the Rapid Access Chest Pain Clinic due to having chest pains and shortness of breath.
Thankfully the tests on my heart came back clear and I got told I have Pre-Diabetes and need to lose weight, since getting that news I have pushed and pushed to try and walk more to exercise and I can only manage about 0.8 miles but i'm desperate to get over the 1 mile point of walking and just can't do it.
So I feel like i'm burning myself out as my mind is telling me I need to walk more because i'm too fat and ugly but my bodies telling me I can't do it because of the pain i'm in but if I rest up i'm frightened I'll seize up.10 -
Losing weight is 80% diet.....walking is great but don't burn yourself out....get your diet right first then try a little excersise11

Well.... The "I hate the way I look" thing, I can understand - however, the "I hate myself" thing really bothers me I think, unless you can look at yourself and your goals positively, you will have a hard time making changes.
Personally, I KNOW you can lose weight if you put forth effort - I don't even know you personally, but I have 100% confidence that you can do it
Now, as to how quickly it comes off and how successful you are in keeping it off is up to you! I, for one, would love to see your progress1 -
Don't focus so much right now on exercise. Losing weight is all about taking in less fuel that you use up so that your body will burn the excess. It's about 80% food choices and 20% exercise. For now, just pay attention to your diet! Congratulations on the 7 pounds so far and good luck! You can do this!8

Could not have said this better myself. OP, you CAN do it! One day at a time, and think positive thoughts. The MFP community is great, and here for you.2
