Fat Loss or Build Muscle Or Both.

Options
Hi
I have around 42lbs to lose
I want to Build Muscle as well as lose the fat. is it better to lose fat then build muscle or do both at the same time,
if doing both would if slow down the weight loss on the scales?

Thank You for any Help.

If you have 42lbs to lose, I would aim for that, have a moderate deficit (15-20% below tdee), adequate protein (.8-1g per lb of lean body mass or .6-.8g per lb of weight) and a solid routine; routines found below.

You might gain a little muscle during the process, but largely, you will at least be able to retain your current muscle set. But if nutrition and training are solid, then there is some potential to gain a little muscle during weight loss.

How are you determining that you're gaining muscle while losing 5 pounds a week?

OP, as stated above you might gain some muscle when you begin lifting.

You haven't lost 5lbs a week at a 15500cal deficit and built muscle. That is an absurd claim.

I think the best you can hope for is to lose weight and become more fit. Building significant muscle mass and calorie deficit are mutually opposed. There is no harm in lifting and losing weight at the same time. You will have the jump start on it when you reach your goal.
