Fat intake

I always hear that fat intake should be less than 10% daily calories. But I'm not sure how I feel about that. I see a lot of fit People going between 5-10% fat intake and they look Amazing. But when I try it I hateeeeee it and feel *kitten*. I feel best around 30% fat intake. Opinions?

10% is crazy, we need fats for a lot of our bodily functions.3

First time I've heard this! Interesting!1 -

Yup...
10% is way low...dietary fat is essential to a healthy diet and is necessary for absorption of certain vitamins and minerals as well as nervous system function, hormone regulation, and brain function among other things. Time has also shown (given the low fat craze of the 80s ad 90s) that low fat diets actually increase your risk of heart disease, etc.
There are plenty of sources of dietary fat that are vegan...I'm not vegan or vegetarian but a good deal of my dietary fat comes from things like avocados, nuts and nut butters, and good cooking oils.4 -

The vegan community isn't 'everywhere'...1 -
Personally I eat between 30% -40% of my 1650 cals from fat... I have a peanut butter habit...4

I don't worry too much about fats, as I know most of mine is from healthy fats and as long as my Sat Fat is low and no trans fats I'm happy.1

Ah that's good to hear. I mean on YouTube I feel like so many vegans are anti-fat. I'm just like ?????????!0 -
Absolutely 0.35g per pound bw as a minimum0

Fat has gotten a bad rap, we need some fat in our diet. I do think that we should choose our fat wisely. I try to get mine from tree nuts avarcado and bacon. I didn't say I was perfect.0

Maybe its time to listen to non vegans sources? Unsaturated fats have been shown to reduce cholesterol.0 -

I wasn't listening to the anti-fat vegan sources necessarily, kinda feel a little out of place though haha becuase I refuse to eat less than 20% fat. but I was like wth I thought a good amount of fat is healthy? That's why I posted a nice discussion. I'm glad to see that having a higher fat intake percentage is completely normal amongst people here. I don't necessarily feel wrong for it now haha.0 -
35% fat here. 10%, No way!0

I have to shoot for .35g per pound of body weight or higher, otherwise my body gets out of whack. I have literally lost my libido when eating only 20g of fat per day. Not fun times.0

Oh yeah definitely don't want that side effect haha!!0 -
For me its based on my phase. While cutting i back fats down to around .35g per lb of lbm and increase when transitioning to maintenance. I do it because fats satiate me the least. But yea, 10% is a bit nuts imo.0

I don't think it should be less than 15%. Fat is required to metabolize fat soluble vitamins (A, D,E& K). Fats also provide essential fatty acids that the body cannot synthesize. The brain is made up of 60% fatty acids composition ( DHA), so brain function requires fats.
