Wow! Didn't know that was a thing!
There's an awesome donut shop in my area called Hurts Donuts. I sometimes stop by for a splurge on long run day. I call them my 10 mile donuts because that's how long I need to run to earn one!10 -

If you're trying to put on mass, you want that insulin spike...it's what helps make you grow. Personally not a donut guy, but when you're trying to put on mass, carbs are king in general for that spike...it is why white rice is so commonly used by body builders.2 -
Gummy bears would give a better spike.6

@ jenHuedy I'm glad I'm not the only one. There is an Italian Bakery right next to my gym. I stop in and get an eclair or cannoli when I run over 5 miles.
@carlos_421 better spike and it would clear up any issues with no being able to go potty. I'd still rather eat the donut.1 -

I think spiking insulin post workout is necessary regardless if u want to gain mass or shred, coz it helps the body absorb all the protein and supps that u took before and during workout0 -
Won't protein alone spike insulin? Doesn't fat interfere with protein absorption i.e. donuts are high in fat..?
Why not just do gummy bears, glucose, or even granola for that matter?1 -

Ha, I just saw on facebook that a friend of mine has designed her run route to hit her favorite donut shop.3 -

Screw it, why not just go for both? Mix a serving of dextrose into your post-workout whey protein shake, and call it done.3 -
I personally would leave off the fat like that...
But why not just do pre-workout nutrition/meal the right way.. It will EASILY elevate insulin above and beyond the maximal threshold seen to inhibit muscle protein breakdown. This insulin elevation resulting from the meal can persist long after your resistance training bout is done...2 -
Mmm....yes please!0

I usually eat jolly ranchers.0

I chew on these too when I run! LOL1 -

I imagine I'd actually have trouble getting something as rich as a donut down right after a workout.1 -

That's pretty much what I was thinking. I generally do liquid intake after a two hour lifting session, because anything else is just going to make me puke. Especially something like a donut.0 -
It's a thing. I assume it's mostly the alliteration and because lots of people like donuts and they make for good photos: https://doughnutsanddeadlifts.com/2

Hoooly crap with that hat. How does an organization peddling an interesting idea, get so involved with selling douchewear?2 -
Think I ate my last doughnut about 5 years ago or more. No appeal to me at all.0

I say trial and error is the best as we're all different. I0

Are we talking Krispy Kreme or Greggs? It would sway my decision. I would rather just stick to my usual banana and save the calorie deficit for wine in all honesty...1

I would think a donut might undo the work you just did, though its your biz so if you want one have at it. Personally I find they give me heartburn and the spike in the blood sugar, along with the crash that soon follows, is really unpleasant.1

Not if you'd planned it into your calories, as I believe the people who promote this do.
It wouldn't be my choice either, but that's kind of like saying by having a meal after a workout (which is usually how I time it), I'm undoing the work.3 -
