slittlemeister wrote: »@OConnell5483 seems like we have the same problems! I'm permanently overworked and I struggle to leave work on time/take a lunch break because I feel like I can't and the work will stack up if I don't. But actually, I've been finding that if I do take more time for myself I am more productive when I am working and I get as much if not more done! Longer hours do not always equal more work done.... I mean, sometimes there genuinely is a need to work late... but I think it's easy to get in a pattern of doing it when you don't need to. It's difficult to make yourself do it, but hopefully you will see the benefit if you do (I am, when I manage it!). Good luck - let me know how you get on!
(Just seeing this now, sorry! Been offline a few days). I think you have a great attitude and approach to this problem. I am going to have to put this into action next week when I return from vacation. I am taking Thursday, Friday and next Monday and Tuesday off, and my husband and I are going to hop in the car and drive West for a little road trip. I'm already stressed out thinking about how much farther behind I will be when I return, and I actually thought about cancelling the trip and working instead. How crazy is that? My husband and I are getting older, so he told me that I was NOT to cancel our vacation because if we don't start doing these things now, we may not be in good enough health to do them later. We need to make memories now while we can. He's right, and I'm excited, but at the same time I'm seriously stressing out just even thinking about how much work will be waiting for me.
However, when I come back from that vacation, I am going to try to do as you suggest...take lunch break and work smarter, not longer and harder.
How is this going for you? Still working?1 -
eat last meal before 10:30pm

Do you ever have a day when you do great all day long. Got my exercise in early in the morning, and by 7pm, had eating 1200 calories, and felt proud of my day. Then hubby and I had errands to run - he suggests stopping and getting a margarita. I had planned to just have a very small one - ended up they had specials going on, so I got a 27 oz one. Between that and the chips - when I got home and logged the calories, it was over 1100 calories - just for the margarita! That led to a spiral downhill the rest of the evening - popcorn, etc.
So today I start again. SO just for today, Tuesday
1. DO not let the scale dictate how my day will be. Stay focused, one day at a time
2. concentrate on water!!! This is my biggest thing to do. Somedays I am lucky to drink 2 glasses of water. I know water is so important - so DRINK WATER TODAY!
3. Log all my food, even if it is not something I want to admit doing
4. get back on here tomorrow -- be accountable to you guys!!

JFT:
- I will do the PT to fix my knee so I can start running again;
- I will not eat a snack after dinner;
- I will not drink my calories via vino!
Good luck everyone. I hope today is going well for you all!

- yoga ( 20 mins done)
- no snack between breakfast and lunch
- no dessert at lunchtime (I actually forgot this and took a fruit salad for my brown bag...but forgot to eat it. Weird but lucky!)
- no snacks except fruit and/or yogurt in the afternoon (damn amaretti, stroop waffles and torrone still sitting there in the office) I didn't touch any of those temptations
- consider dinner more carefully (easier as at home so could have real food straight away after work)
JFT 31.8
- yoga already failed at this
- no snack between breakfast and lunch
- don't use lunchtime run as an excuse to stuff myself with lunch
- no snack except fruit and/or yogurt in the afternoon
- find better option for pre-German half of dinner (Monday's choice was way more calorific and less satisfying than I had expected)
- get to bed by 11pm
Good luck today, everyone.

Yesterday's commitments -
- Log everything I eat
- No unhealthy snacks
- Take diet lemonade, have one glass for every glass of wine
- Take healthy fruit for dessert Could only find non-diet yoghurt in the small store, that was better than the ice cream she was going to give me though!
- If dinner unhealthy, have a small portion didn't do so well here - did not try to discourage friend from cooking portions that were too big (which I could have done) though at least I managed to persuade her not to put in an entire tub of creme fraîche...(she has no concept of dieting, lucky s$#... )
- Do NOT add more than a sprinkle of extra cheese (if applicable) N/A
- Do exercise class before going 'Had to' do work instead due to work getting busy again and spending most of the day in meetings so not getting anything done. Will be busy over next two weeks so have to be careful don't slip into bad habits again
Today's commitments -

I've been sporadic at best with daily postings. This time of year is always chaotic in our home. The next few weeks will be transitioning into the Fall/Winter routines. It's a great time to start fresh....however, my goals always seem to be the same!
*Kick off the day by getting at least 2/3 of my step goal for the day
*Catch up on updating calendars and bills
*Water,water,water....aargh!
* Start working on a daily schedule to hopefully free up more time for fun projects
Have a good day everyone....see you next month!1 -

Yesterday I was mindful of what I ate. I indulged just a little instead of bingeing and was aware of it. I took a nice healthy walk with my family.

Just for today. One more day.
- I will not eat candy, except my fit avocado dessert
- Today I will not exercise because I need to recovery my muscles, so I will eat less than 100g carbs.
- I will drink at least 3000 ml water2 -
I will not discuss family with coworker who gives advice
I will set boundaries, that's a thought, that's an idea, change subject
I will stop eating after 7, drink water2 -
Yesterday's goals: I will do the PT to fix my knee so I can start running again; I did most of the exercises while the 4 year old gremlin had a tantrum (new school transition) so that was kinda close.
I will not eat a snack after dinner; Hooray!
I will not drink my calories via vino! This was purely bc we are out of wine.
So for today...- Still no snack after dinner. No celebrating the kids being asleep with food! grrrrr.
- PT for knee - do all the exercises
- Take a family walk after dinner - should not be as sweltering today - hooray!
- If (when) the 4 year old has more tantrums, remain calm and breathe. Know that she is struggling too.
I hope everyone is enjoying the last day of August!2 -

I entered all my food in. I exercised. I was aware of what I was eating and walked away more than once from a bad situation or an overeating situation. It wasn't perfect but it was Progress!
Just for today, I'm going to enter my food into my fitness pal, I'm going to journal my thoughts, I'm going to move for at least 30 minutes, and I'm going to continue to eat mindfully by consciously making food choices that are healthy and sustainable to my continued goals. I accept myself as is, even as I strive to become healthier and lighter.1
