If you like it and stay within your calorie limit then it is a good idea.

I find it a real treat in morning and in a way keeps cravings for that kind of stuff away during the day.

I don't see a problem but I prefer to mix it up. I eat oatmeal with fruit most weekdays and eggs and bacon on the weekends or if I am tired of oatmeal. I think the oatmeal helps keep my cholesterol down too.

Mmmm bacon. You could switch to turkey bacon to save some calories and fat.

Yea it is great. I have it sliced up and in pan with no oil and get it crispy than chuck in two eggs and scramble for minute then on a bit of toast with no butter or nothing. It's fantastic. Plus a mug of black tea along with it with the tea bag left in to make it stronger.

I eat bacon everyday. Three slices and two fried or scrambled eggs is the perfect breakfast for me.

You can get turkey bacon everywhere around HERE, but maybe not everywhere. I agree - it's really good. To me, it tastes very similar to bacon, but is more forgiving for a not-so-great cook - it's less inclined to get that burnt, crunchy texture.

Fave Weekend breakfast: 2 soft-boiled eggs + 2 slices thick cut bacon (chopped), mashed together in a bowl. Keeps my hunger away til afternoon.

Love bacon with breakfast, on salads, as ingredients to flavor other dishes. Reminds me,I need to make some bacon jam for my son, he asked a couple weeks ago. Time consuming but soooo good.

Bacon is the best! I eat it every weekday morning (get it at the office cafeteria) and have eaten it even when I'm at lower weights. If you don't have cholesterol problems, I see no reason with it. It helps me avoid those cravings later on and is surprisingly low cal.

I remember hearing that smoked food can be worse than normal for calories. I think I heard smoked mackerel higher in calories than normal??

If it is, that'll be because hot smoking cooks and slightly dries out the mackerel, so more of that mackerel is fat and protein and less is water. The ratio of calories to macronutrients will barely be affected.

You would notice the same effect comparing a raw burger to a grilled one.

I'm too lazy/zombified to cook in the AM, but if you've got the time, 2 strips of bacon within your calorie goal sounds like a nice part of breakfast. It has the protein and fat to keep you satisfied, especially along with eggs.

Bacon is usually cold smoked, btw, so there wouldn't really be the same discrepancy as with mackerel.
