Good lord. That's some serious rice in a sitting. Then again I have been know to eat my share of rice.I don't even make more than just enough for dinner simply because I will eat the holy heck out it if it's there. I do all different ways. I'll have some with butter and salt, a little more with just salt and no butter, another helping with sugar and butter, another serving plain. Until the pot is gone. I have been known to eat rice sandwiches, rice in my eggs etc....I have to avoid rice because it's like crack rock to me.

eat which rice is most tasty so you enjoy it. I agree if you pair it with protein it will stabilize your blood sugar instead spiking it... btw.. basmati rice is my rice of choice. so delicious.. why eat any other? I eat 1/2 cup and add diced onion and carrot..maybe some water chestnuts to expand the portion.. I spray mine with amino acid from Whole Foods.. it tastes like soy sauce. But I try not to add high sodium soy sauce.

so..there's a straight helpful answer for you instead of the smarty pants remarks above.

Do you ever look at nutritional profiles of the things you post?

At any rate, the difference is pretty negligible...I personally prefer brown rice because it actually tastes like something...also, that seems like a pretty large serving of rice...what else are you eating with it...that will obviously alter the nutritional profile.

The ratio of brown to white rice should be 8:2, the soy should be no more than 50ml but no less than 25ml. Eat outside of this and you will eliminate your deficit.

But seriously, eat whichever you prefer. Weigh it & track it of course.
Why on the ratios? The difference between the 2 nutritionally is practically insignificant.

Has anyone actually ever died from mercury poisoning from the odd tin of tuna?

Brown rice and white rice are so similar that it doesn't matter which. It's junk food with little nutrition other than carb calories.

    Rice isn't junk food.

Was planning on eating it alone with maybe butter but mayo end soysauce.

Are you Hawaiian? I love rice with mayo and soy sauce.

I eat rice plain sometimes, especially when it's mixed with toasted vermicelli. I also eat it with yogurt when there is a lot of rice left, especially nice for breakfast. I love how versatile it is, I can basically mix it with anything sweet or savory. We eat rice often, so we always have leftovers. 2 days ago I just used some plain cooked rice and mixed in some canned tuna, sun-dried tomatoes packed in olive oil, a bit of hot sauce, pressed garlic, salt and pepper, tarragon and capers. Took less than a couple of minutes to make and left me full for the day. I don't understand the hate for rice, especially white rice. It's a staple in many generally thin cultures and you can throw anything with it to make a meal even if it's just random stuff like I did above, make it as quick or as elaborate as you wish.

You know what causes diabetes? Ignorance causes diabetes. And now my children have it and are coughing and sneezing and spreading it all over the room!

Where's the Dave Ramsey quote? "Rice and beans, beans and rice."
