Gaining on 1400 kcals

I've listened to what you've said, and trust that you're logging food correctly and only eating a portion of exercise cals. This all does sound very frustrating to me, you have my sympathy.
Could well be, as mentioned, a metabolism issue.
Do you know your body fat % (vs lean muscle weight)? It sounds low if you have abs showing. What macro ratio are you using?
I think as suggested, weights could help, as because as I understand it, higher muscle mass burns more cals as rest. You didn't mention weight training in your regular exercise.
Just to clarify, while muscle does burn more calories in a day, for every 1 lb you gain, it's only an additionally 4-6 calories daily. But I would definitely agree that the OP would definitely benefit from a solid lifting program.5 -
Is it possible that you're slipping back into eating disordered thinking? At 108 pounds and at your height, you are very, very thin.4

No, calc was wrong. She's 5 foot 1 that's 61 inches = 155 cm. 155cm and 49kg = 20.4 BMI. A healthy weight by the BMI scale, so I'd be more careful with your wording around accusing recovered people of lapsing.
Her concern is that her weight is increasing despite closely monitored cal intake and exercise - that's what she wants addressing; she didn't say she wants to lose weight, she wants to stop gaining, and she is also unhappy gaining at what feels to her to be a restricted cal diet.
Right, OP?4 -

49.3 kg @ 1.55m is a BMI of 20.5. Low ... but not 19.8.0 -
OP, it depends on how much packaged food you eat too. Being small, even a 50 calories underestimating a few times a week can make a difference. In my experience, bread rolls and the like pretty much always end up 30-40 extra calories than what the package says.
So weigh everything and make sure that you're using the correct entries.1 -

PLEASE DONT LEAVE REPLIES ACCUSING ME OR ASKING IF IM "SECRET EATING" OR "NOT LOGGING FOOD CORRECTLY" BECAUSE NEITHER OF THOSE ARE TRUE AND IM KINDA GET FED UP OF PEOPLE IGNORING ME SAY THAT. Unfortunately many people don't read, past an OP's original post; before commenting. Therefore it's best to began a thread/post, with as much information as possible; to avoid these issues in the future!2 -

One of two things. You need to cut back or you are not counting accurately. Use a scale and weigh everything .0

In all honesty, I would gain weight doing that as well, and I exercise every day and have 3 active jobs. I think you set your activity level too high and it's throwing your TDEE off.
Simple solution. Either lower calorie intake or exercise more.0 -
Anna Richardson, the black-haired lady in those videos, says you have to be "honest" about what you're eating. That's also the one key word I use in talking to people who complain. You have to be honest. Honest with you, honest with the world. Open your diary.3

If you are gaining weight, you are taking in more calories than your body needs. So you have either overestimated your TDEE and are eating that amount, or your TDEE is spot-on and you are underestimating the calories you are eating. No way to really tell without metabolic testing, so unfortunately the answer is that you will either need to eat a little less or move a little more to stop gaining.2

Right, OP?
I'm not making an accusation. It's a valid concern.
I have watched a dear friend struggle with her ednos, over a period of over 20 years. I've watched her struggle with body dysmorphia and her fear of gaining weight. It hurt my heart so much to see her pain, and I would hate to see another young woman struggle in that way.1 -

It's not a valid concern. anorexics have an intense fear of gaining weight. it is a mental illness. all the op said is that she's put on a few pounds and wants to know why. She has never said anything about wanting to be underweight or anything indicating an eating disorder.3 -
KwonJiYong69 wrote: »Aaron_K123 wrote: »I find your story pretty impossible to believe to be honest. You are claiming an intake of 1400 calories and that when you exercise you only eat back 1/3 of that burn. Lets ignore exercise for now, assume that is actually balanced.
From what others did with TDEE you are basically eating at maintenance but you state you have gained 8 pounds over 12 weeks. 8 pounds over 12 weeks is 0.67 pounsd a week or 2350 extra calories a week or 330 extra calories per day.
For that gain to be true and for your counting to be accurate you would have to have a TDEE of 1050 which is basically impossible.
So it doesn't add up. Not sure why it doesn't add up so can't really give advice.
My guess is other people's guesses. There is something you are logging innacurately. Regardless if you gained 8 pounds over 3 months legitimately (ie it wasn't just a spike on one day) then the solution is to eat less or move more.
In the nicest way, I know more than anyone if I am logging correctly and I AM. Id tou read previous you'll find that maybe one reason I could be going over is bc I'll go by packets sometimes. Likeif the packet says 1 roll is 160 thats what I'll set it as bc i didnt realise it could be different weight. Also its obvious my body doesnt digest calories exactly the same as a computer says so maybe?
Although it is true that there can be some variation in how well a person digests the food they eat and therefore how many calories they get out of it there is no way to be more than 100% efficient.
What I mean by that is that if it says 100 calories on the box that means there are 100 calories of energy contained in there. Perhaps Bob eats that and digests it efficiently and gets 95 calories out of it while Susan digestes it and gets only 85 calories out of it because she was recently on antibiotics which wrecked her microbiome..sure. But what CANNOT happen is Jill eating that and getting 150 calories out of it. You cannot get more out of it than exists within it so "variations in digestion" cannot be an explanation for weight gain if you are accurately logging because there is no way to obtain more calories than exist within a product (sometimes you can get less).
I respect you, and my way of showing respect is to not assume someone is too weak to get it straight and requires things be sugar coated or softened. I think there is a bias especially towards younger women on these forums to not just be blunt. I'm going to give it to you straight. Something is wrong with the way you are tracking but as you pointed out I have no way of knowing what that is so there is no point in even guessing. Bottom line though is it ends up not mattering that much in the end. If the fact is that you eat X amount according to the way you measure things and eating X amount over 3 months gained you 3.5 kg then clearly X amount is too much if you want to be losing weight. So your options are to increase your activity level, decrease your calorie intake or decide that you aren't currently overweight (you said you have visible abs which sounds like you are actually very lean) so their is no health reason for you to require losing weight in the first place.
Overall though of course that is my opinion and you don't need to listen to it of course.

That's not true, she's trying to lose 6-7 more pounds, not maintain.2
