Golo 'Release' Anybody tried it?
https://www.golo.com/?variant=b
I woke up at 2am one night, couldn't sleep, and turned on the tv as this infomerical was starting. What they were saying made a lot of sense to me, and it sounded as if they were talking about my specific weight problem,so I decided to buy it. Starting it today, and fingers crossed, hope it helps. I know there's no magic pill to lose weight and stay healthy, but if this can assist me, I will be thankful.
Just curious, has anybody tried this or had success with it? Thanks

Everything on that website is a lie. Most people who have trouble losing weight have all of the factors listed as the reason for using that product, and it has nothing to do with insulin resistance. That's how they are able to sell it. Convince normal people that they're abnormal and the only way to become normal is to buy their junk. Anyone who suffers from actual insulin resistance will tell you it's a load of crap.10

I appreciate the responses, and opinions, but I hope to hear from People who have tried it.1

So how is it going? I've only been at this (MFP) one week. Just trying to figure things out.

I certainly don't think it will hurt,my food intake is terrible from terrible sources. Took the pill about 2.5 hours with small breakfast,so far,no hunger,I took it with a 20oz water, and have been nursing a cup of coffee for 90 minutes,so,some combination is holding me over, normally with a real light breakfast,I am starting to get hungry around 11:30. Today's lunch, 2 hardboiled eggs, celery, carrots, and peanut butter

Advertisements are designed to make people feel it's about them. They aren't always speaking the truth. You don't have to have tried this to understand that it's a scam, you just have to apply critical thinking. You have that in you, too, you are skeptical, that's why you asked here. Too bad you did it after you opened the bottle, but that way you have paid for your lesson, and that's fair.
If you have to hope and cross fingers, it sounds that you believe in magic. Stop that. Weight loss is simple mathematics - taking in fewer calories than you burn. What you need, is consistently doing that, for a long, long time. No pills can assist. If they could, you wouldn't have to eat less, would you?19 -

One doesn't have to have sent money to a Nigerian prince to advise someone that it's a scam.
One doesn't have to have sent money to collect winnings on a foreign lottery to advise someone that it's a scam.
One doesn't have to have bought a $40 bottle of diet pills to advise someone that it's a scam.

Of course,I understand that, but there's obviously differences in one person's Body to another person's,and their metabolism is different. What reasons can cause these differences? For example, I work with a Guy that leads a sedentary lifestyle like me, and we will both eat the same bad things at the same times, I continue to gain weight, and he can't put on weight and has resorted to drinking shakes to gain. Neither of us exercises like we should, yet,we have completely different outcomes.
I like MFP because you can track your exercise & calories, and I agree, burn more calories then you take in,and you should lose weight. But the reason I even tried these pills is, because the weight seems to add on me very quickly yet is hard to shed. I guess I am looking for anything as an aide to my weight loss.

Do you want to be spending money on these pills the rest of your life? Because like most of these late night products and work out fads, most people just bloat back to their original weight once they stop because they don't learn anything. Once you stop taking the pills and your old appetite comes back, you won't have learned how to control and regulate yourself and will binge eat.
Do it right, do it slow and do it permanently. I've done many crash diets and failed because I wanted to keep my lifestyle the same. Only now when I'm working towards a better and healthier eating habit does it feel like I can keep the weight off. I tried to binge eat a dinner the other day, and just couldn't come close to eating how much I use to, and I've only been at this for around 40 days. I have a long way to go, but I definitely feel like I have changed for the better with my eating habits instead of relying on a crutch to cover up the main issue, which is just that I had no idea how little my body actually needed compared to these massive serving sizes are available to us.4 -

I'm not sure you do understand... Focus on you. You don't see everything your colleague eats and drinks every day. If he's underweight, chances are he'll exaggerate his intake, just as any overweight person would underestimate his/hers.
If you aren't losing weight, you aren't using the food diary correctly. You need to set it up right, tell MFP that you want to lose 1% of your body weight per week. Then weigh everything you eat and drink, log it, and also use correct entries (doublecheck nutritional values). If you eat back exercise calories, cut those in half. Stick to this, diligently, consistently and without cheating or "forgetting", and weight will come off. We have different personalities and preferences, but the human body works in the same way for everybody, and our metabolisms aren't that different.
There are no bad foods as long as it's not toxic or spoilt. You just have to exert portion control - see above. That said, some foods are easier to overeat than others. You'll want to find a balance where you get in good nutrition, feel full and satisfied, manage weight, and enjoy life, including eating. This takes time and effort, and you don't want to waste any of your attention on pills, or crazy diets, if you are contemplating that too.9 -

No one's metabolism is different enough from other people's that they need a pill to increase it, unless it's due to a legit medical problem, in which case you would see a doctor to be diagnosed and any medications you take are to treat the underlying issue, not to boost your metabolism. No goofball placebo/caffeine pill from the tv or the internet or a women's magazine will make a bit of difference.

You lost me at "infomercial" ..

Is he younger than you? Is he tall? He may be more active than he lets on. All those things factor into how many calories HIS body needs to sustain life vs how many YOUR body needs. There are many, many more factors than just the ones I mentioned. You cannot compare yourself to anyone else.4 -

I'm not commenting on the useless woo pills, but why are you eating so little? You said you had a small breakfast, and then for lunch you only had two eggs, some veggies, and peanut butter? What's your calorie goal for the day?0 -

I'm diabetic, which I've controlled through diet. Do you need the pills? Maybe, if your are a diabetic in which case you should be under a doctor's care, right? I'll say this, from what I know about my disease, much of the website is more or less correct, although clearly they have something to sell, don't they? But are you diabetic or are you just getting too many calories from simple sugars? I disagree with some of the others - yeah, there are bad foods! Cut out your candy and your soda before buying into this pill plan you saw on late night TV. Find some common sense quality foods that work for you. You may not need their pills, but you do need to plan. Plenty of recipes on this website. Don't starve yourself. Shoot for about 500 per meal with another 300 or so for snacks for an 1800 calorie per day diet. Ask your doctor. Make little changes: Don't eat after 6PM at night and don't eat before 0700 - eat only during daylight hours (more or less). Drink water only - no soda. Cut back on the beer! Stop putting sugar and creamer in your coffee, etc. Be less sedentary. Start walking 3 miles in the morning or run if you can! Make your exercise exceed your food intake by 100 calories or more per day. Walk some more. Take the stairs at work. And be patient! It took me a year, but I lost 35 pounds and four inches from my waist. My blood sugar is normal and I look and feel great - Good luck! Keep getting smart on this. You can do it!6

Woo there!
1. There are no bad foods, just bad relationships with food. Even my dietician will say this.
2. Sugar is not the enemy unless one has a medical condition that requires decrease of sugar.
3. 1800? How do you know? Do you know his age, current weight, height and activity level?
4. Doctors know squat about nutrition/diets (my doctors words! Lol). A dietician is a better choice.
5. There is nothing wrong with eating after 5pm if there are calories left over. I personally eat about an hour before I sleep.
6. What only eat during daylight hours? Does this mean those who are on night shift have to starve? Meal timing is irrelevant for weight loss.
7. Why no soda? Diet soda has no calories, and 1 can of coke is only 140 calories. Sugar does not cause obesity, excess calories do. No need to cut out candy if it can be moderated.
8. Nothing wrong with creamer. Some brands are only 15-20 cals per tablespoon.
I do agree with increasing activity, though.
- have done everything you say not to, including not cutting out sugar and have lost over 90lbs. Go figure.7 -

Mm, actually no. According to the studies that I've read people with similar stats have almost no variation to their metabolic rate. The bulk of the difference comes from intentional burns.
Also I'm not going to list you sources. Whoever is interested should do their own research. Preferebly from scientific papers rather than from infomercials.

Nevermind the rest of your post which is sparsely if at all based in fact. How can anyone with a potentially serious medical condition entertain the idea that the OP might actually NEED these nonsense pills, let alone see any benefit from them whatsoever?

I wouldn't ingest anything I bought off the TV2

Thanks for all the responses. Seems the overwhelming consensus is that these pills are a waste. I have a 30 day supply and will use them and probably not buy a refill unless I see some incredible result which I can't attribute to exercise or diet.
Somebody above asked me about my intake for the day as for calories, I am set up to take in 2600-2800 calories a day which according to MFP, would allow me to lose 2 lbs a week, I am also starting the gym 3 days a week.
Somebody asked me why I was eating so little, I don't think I am, for breakfast, I just had a yogurt and slim fast shake, 280 calories total. It filled me up. How much more should I eat if I'm full?
Same goes for lunch, if I eat a couple eggs, some veggies, or a salad, and I'm under 800 calories, do I need to eat more if I'm full?
I may have an afternoon snack like popcorn, but most of my calories I save for dinner. I prefer to eat a bigger more filling dinner so I don't get hungry and eat at night.
I have a sweet tooth, but not on a daily basis, so I'm usually not tempted. I am however a carb fan, I enjoy various breads, rolls, etc. I know they are bad, but they also fill me up and keep me feeling full. My goal is to eliminate or greatly reduce sugar, breads, carbs, as I know these are all bad3 -

There are no 'bad' foods. Setting yourself up with this kind of thinking will guarantee you will fail in the long run.
Some foods are simply more caloric than others, and have varying nutritional properties. If you like carbs, for example, there's absolutely no reason you can't include them in a healthy well-balanced diet.10 -

Hi morf13, you now how weight loss happens. You said so above.
Have you tried weighing your solids and measuring your liquids and logging everything you eat?
When you and your friend eat together, perhaps he eat less calories overall than you do, therefore the perception is that he is staying slim while you are having trouble losing weight. In other words, you guys are bonding over that cheeseburger and fries, but neither of you sees the whole of what the other eats outside of that.
I don't blame you for looking for an aide to your weight loss. In fact, before I found the MFP app, I was cruising the weight loss isle at Kmart and stood there staring at the green tea extract. I read the box, and it promised to speed up my metabolism and help the pounds melt away. For the life of me, I couldn't get this darned weight off, even with all the calorie intake estimations I was doing in my head!
I almost put that box of green tea extract in my basket, then stopped and realized I should go home and think about it. I went looking on the internet to find out more about it, and looked for sites about how to properly lose weight, and food logging apps....and I found MFP.
I downloaded their app and started logging everything I ate and used measuring cups. Even with measuring cups, I could tell when I thought I was eating 1500, it was more like 2500, which was over my total daily energy expenditure! I set my goals to lose 2 pounds a week, cut back on portions, measured all my food, logged everything I ate every single day and I still did not lose as much weight as I was set up to lose.
Then, I learned from the good people here that I might want to try a food scale....and I did and everything changed. The aid in my weight loss was actually when I bought the food scale and started weighing all my food and measuring my liquids. It was a real eye opener for me, and I still weigh my food and measure any calorie liquids, oils, etc.
The only setback I've had was the gain of about four pounds over my weight range this last year due to my partner's open heart surgery and my own health issue that kept me exhausted and tired and not paying much attention (though I still logged my food), but now I'm back on track and cutting again. I was simply moving less and eating more than I realized.
I know for a fact that if you set your mind to it you can lose your weight without any pills at all. The thing is...... you have to believe you can do it.
No, I have not tried that particular pill before, but I've certainly tried others enough to know they are all a scam and advertise to grab the attention of that person who believes they cannot do weight loss by just eating at a calorie deficit.
You can do this, I know you can.9 -
Thanks for that explanation, makes sense. The food scale & measuring plan makes sense. Somebody else told me to eat by the handful, since your stomach was about the size of your fist, you should only eat a fist food of food per serving2
-

No, not really.
That sounds like a mis-interpretation of the old guideline of estimating portion sizes relative to your hand. It's a useful technique if you don't have a scale available, but only for a rough estimate. The size of your stomach has nothing to do with a reasonable portion size for most foods. A fist sized portion of bacon (while delicous) is much different than a fist sized portion of chicken, or apples, or Oreos.
This is a version of the hand-serving rule of thumb. Again, it is inferior in every way to using a food scale.
You seem to be casting about for any gimmick that you can. If you don't want to use a food scale, you still need to manage your portions in a way that is sensible. That means setting limits for yourself, recognizing a reasonable portion size for each type of food, and finding a balance that makes it easier for you to keep a consistent calorie deficit.
Edited to reference a better chart.
