Anyone using these or has used them?

Considering buying from my pharmacy or asking gp to prescribe. I am overweight enough to use them, but I don't want to bother if they're not any good.

And yes, I am considering this because I want to lose weight quicker, and no that isn't a crime. I have pcos which makes wright loss very very slow and depression mainly caused, I feel, by how I look and if I can make myself feel better quicker I will try my hardest!

Thanks for any advice xx

its not a crime, but it may well be setting yourself up to fail... what happens when you stop taking the pills?

you need to look at changing your lifestyle in sustainable ways, and also stop putting all your worth in your weight.

oh, and anal leakage is as good a reason i know to not take Alli...

    Thanks for reply.

I have just done some further research on it and answered my own question!!

It seems in clinical trials takers of alli only lost a further 5.5lb per year than those who just ate healthier!! Also gross side effects...not really worth it for 5lbs.

Oh well. Back to the grind...

Alli would work against you having PCOS. What you need to look at is low carb or ketogenic diets. Those with PCOS or IR tend to have slower metabolism, which is why weight loss is slower. It's harder to create a large calorie deficit. Exercise can improve some insulin sensitivity, so I would also recommend a solid workout program that incorporates resistance training and cardio. The below two groups should help.

Depression is rarely caused by weight, it's often the other way around. You may want to seek help for that because if you don't learn to cope with it, you get even worse when you see that weight loss does not solve all life problems.

Take the pills or don't, that's up to you, but it won't make that much of a difference. Depending on how much fat you usually eat, that's a maximum of about 250 calories if your food is usually pretty high in fat. If you are moderate or low fat then the extra calories not absorbed is a much smaller number than that. Are the side effects worth the extra 1 lb every few months?

I have PCOS and borderline low thyroid, I'm down more than 100 lbs, so it can be done without subjecting yourself to such drugs and their very unpleasant side effects.
