Cool! How many calories a day are you eating?1
-
There is some research supporting this type of fasting0
-
I'd like to get to a point of trying this. Right now I am just emotionally reliant on food. Working on breaking that cycle first, then I'll do it! Not every day, but here and there.2
-
I got started by overeating late one day so I could push my first meal later the next day3
-
What your dinner plan how many calories and macros you want to take?0
-
I usually eat two meals a day so I can eat a big meal at dinnertime with my family.5
-
I usually eat 2 meals a day...1pm and 7pm...as long as you are getting sufficient nutrition, eating one meal is quite enough, and probably make meal prep a lot easier!3
-
I do better with Intermittant fasting also. Not everyone enjoys it. My waistline/abdomen has gotten smaller, and I'm not really hungry in the mornings anyhow. So it works for me. Plus I don't have to fuss with food except for my lunch and dinner which makes me happy.5
-
I often just have breakfast then a late lunch/early dinner so I can have either a large or calorie dense meal. I may need a snack before bed but for the most part it keeps really full.1

I would have trouble coming up with adequate nutrition and a decent number of (minimum required) calories all in one meal. If you can, that's great.
FYI: your stomach isn't shrinking.....that's just an old wives tale.3 -
20hrs would be pushing it for me, but I started doing 16:8 IF this week and really like it. Funny because this is how I ate when I was overweight. I would eat a crap ton of food in the evening, then be full until lunch the next day.
I've gone back to that way of eating (minus the excess calories of course) because I just enjoy eating bigger dinners and evening snacking. This way I can eat in the pattern I prefer and stay within my calories much easier. I don't know why I haven't been doing this all along.9 -
My personal issue with that would be protein. Eating 70-120 grams of protein in one meal would be extremely hard for me. It would make me gag. I wonder how those who do it handle that.1

Hey if the spare tire around that region shrinks, it's all good!5 -
I've been doing 16 hours of fasting with an 8 hour window of eating every day. I can't see myself ever fasting for a day or longer periods of time.... but there are several fasting patters or i.e.: eating patters going on out there.
For the past two weeks.. I've been simply skipping breakfast and eating from 12:30- 8:30 ... It has been interesting... a few observations..
once I eat. I have no cravings.. I eat less..I've actually naturally cut portions in half and leave food on the plate when I never ever did that before in my life. This eating breakfast nonsense to keep from binging later is actually all wrong.. eating breakfast just keeps me thinking and wanting food all day long.
- exercise. I did it on the last hour of my fast..expecting to most likely feel faint and weak. Nope..totally absolutely fine...when before when I ate all day.. I had regular trouble with maintaining my blood sugar during hour long cardio workouts.
It is pretty bizarre .. and great.. it isn't magic... some think they can stuff their faces during the eating window.. but I don't do that.. and yes.. i can tell i'm losing weight.7 -
Yeah - that's probably what she meant.1 -
I would be starving! I admire people that can go that long without eating. I usually start to feel the effects of no food by 15 hours of not eating.2
-
I'm doing IF too. I fast for 19 hours and then eat 1350 cals when I'm eating later in the day. I love it!!!!! It has really helped to stop me bingeing because in that 5 hours I'm stuffed and can't eat a single thing after my window closes. I have a better relationship with chocolate too as I still have it daily whereas before when I diet I cut everything out and feel miserable and quit.
I've only been doing it for a week and tomorrow is weigh in day. I definitely feel lighter so I know I've lost something. I'm really looking to lose 28lbs by Xmas so tomorrow I know I'm saying bye to 187lbs on the scales!!!!!4 -

This. I think it's great if it works for you, and I can see how reducing the eating window would help with calorie control for many. For me, trying to get, say, 1500 nutrient-dense calories and my protein goal in one meal wouldn't be possible. I like 3 meals, no snacks, but have considered skipping breakfast so I could increase the size of lunch and dinner or add in a late afternoon snack (I eat dinner quite late).2 -
I start everyday with a 500 calorie chocolate bar to kick off my 8 hour window lol7

You are implementing some form of intermittent fasting which is used by quite a few people here. A 20 hour fast is great, if it helps you stick to your daily goal.1

I eat between 1000-1200 calories .. have my 4 hour window open at 2:40 pm1
-
never been able to lose weight eating 3 meals. .this is a awesome way!!!! love it! I can have Thanksgiving Dinner and all the holiday dinner because my family eats in the afternoon for holidays!2
-
protein bar has automatic 20 grams of protein and 200 cals. .then meat and cheese .. will get me all my protein!3

Me too!4 -
I do 16:8 sometimes 20:4. 10 ounces of chicken alone is 60 gm of protein. It's really not too hard to hit what you need.3
-
right.. so protein is achievable .. unlike bad carbs 3 ho's ho's from Hostess are 54 carbs.. I could eat those in about 3 minutes alone..lol0

That's why I said "personally". For someone who feels half a chicken breast is already bordering on too much, 10 ounces of chicken is way more than I'm ever willing to eat in one setting, let alone 15-20 ounces. It would come right out. Kudos to those who can!0 -
I work an odd shift 1-9 and not hungry in the mornings (just drink 1 cup of black coffee) I started doing 16:8,,my window of eating is 11-7...I eat a nice lunch before work, a small snack, and then my dinner around 6..I have lost 5 lbs without much effort. It has kept me from my late night snacking especially. On my days off I continue with this plan and it really works for me. There is a lot of information out there as IF plans have really gotten popular, I love it.3
