I lost 115 after you dieting and am 52, so I have plenty of saggy loose skin. Do I like it? NO! Was the weight loss worth it? YES! I don't have rashes and I can easily hide it with nice clothes.
Can't hide fat.
I had this skin 100 pounds ago, only it was filled with the fat that crushed the life out of me. Now I can slip this saggy old body into a size 10 with ease.
So worth it!

I have to argue that losing slower and using dry brushing, a loofa in the bath/shower and a great cream like CeRave will help with loose skin. I've taken care of my skin my entire life.. and it shows. Had I not I'd have wrinkles and look much older than I do. I'm not saying it will be a cure all.. but it would help .. and very much with someone older with not a huge amount of weight to lose.1

happy to report that the skin sag is still minimal.. so fingers crossed this losing very slowly is paying off in a plethora of ways... down half way to my goal of 2000

I've lost 33# over the past 5 months and developed a distinct 4 pack w/the lower 2 visible but still not as apparent, which is great. 1st time that I can recall actually having a 6 pack.
HOWEVER, I still have some loose skin in lower abs which is slowly going away. Oddly, the loose skin is most apparent when I tighten my abs and least apparent when I just relax those muscles. At least, the big belly I had before doesn't present itself when I relax those muscles as it did before.
Using a mineral oil based lotion w/Vit A, D & E added, which seems to be helping to restore firmness to the skin.1 -

How saggy your skin looks can change as you're losing weight.
I've lost 94 pounds so far, and would like to lose another 6. My arms looked saggier somewhere around the midpoint of my loss than they do now.
My belly was another thing that looked worse at various stages than it does now.
I'm sure exercise has played a role for me (I lift weights), but so has time and things adjusting. I've been at this for just about two years now.

Just wanted to point out that you may have meant to say 2 GRAMS, not 2 mg of fish oil. Most standard gel capsules are 1000 mg, or 1 gram.0 -
Did anybody carry most of their weight in their stomach? My stomach is very saggy and I don't care about having loose skin aesthetic wise. I care about health/discomfort. If someone has a very saggy belly half way through weight loss is there any chance it'll be less saggy with just the skin or will it be more saggy once there is no fat filler?

This is embarrassing but WE. Is there any chance this won't result in necessary surgery?

I can't say that you won't need to have surgery. However, I will say that losing more fat will make a big difference in how much your skin is stretched and sags. The entire surface area of your skin there is lined with fat. That stretches it out and weighs it down. As the weight of the fat decreases and there is not as much fat stretching it out decreases, it is going to shrink. You have done a great job so far but have a long way to go before you'll be able to tell what your skin will look like in the end.6

The entire surface area of your skin there is lined with fat. That stretches it out and weighs it down. As the weight of the fat decreases and there is not as much fat stretching it out decreases, it is going to shrink. You have done a great job so far but have a long way to go before you'll be able to tell what your skin will look like in the end.
Thank Jen! Yes, definitely a lot of fat left. I am mostly hoping it doesn't droop lower because of health concerns. I don't mind having extra skin aesthetically. I think the only thing I can do at this point is wait and see!0 -

It will take your body up to 3x longer (or more) to reduce (not eliminate) loose skin than it did to lose the weight in the first place. It's just a sad fact. I'm almost 2 years into my journey, and have been in maintenance for almost six months now. I lost 125lbs total, and almost all of the loose skin is in my midsection. Drives me crazy but it's not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. Building muscle through exercise, hydration, exfoliation, and keeping up on vitamins to keep my skin healthy has all helped along the way. I figure maybe in 2-3 years it'll be less noticeable depending on where I build muscle and how that skin gets redistributed. Hell I probably have a six or eight pack under the loose skin in my abdomen, you can definitely feel it but it's almost not noticeable unless you stretch the loose skin. I do a lot of ab work, and although I'm not saying it's not necessary, it has done nothing for the loose skin, but it sure did build the abdominal muscles over the last year.1

its like looking at a photo of my own stomach so thanks for having the courage to share I started off pretty similar to your photo but have had a dramatic decrease but it has retained the same shape (droopy) but just way smaller. I am going to keep lifting and watching my nutrition and just have to give it time to see more change. I need to really focus on ab and core work (my next fitness goals). My advice? keep going and be patient with the process...good luck!1 -

I know how you feel. Look at my pics but the health benefits and ability to do things we otherwise couldn't are so worth some loose skin!!4 -

We're all going to sag/droop somewhat as we age but, IMO, the more you weigh, the more potential for sagging. Your skin will shrink at least somewhat as you get smaller. I wouldn't let possible sagginess stop me from getting to a healthy weight (not sure your sex/height so I don't know what a healthy weight is for you.)
I cannot stress enough that the last 10, 20, 30, 40 pounds make a HUGE difference in appearance, even when you have already lost a lot of weight. Going from 40 lbs of excess fat to 30 lbs means losing 25% of excess fat. From 40 to 20 means losing 50% of excess fat. 40 to 10 means losing 75% of excess fat. Those are major differences and are very visible in the mirror.5 -

I don't mind a little sag but don't want to get surgery either... hence my concerns. Already gone from 48 waist pants to between 42 / 44 amazingly!! Old slacks to huge to wear anymore.0

Cosigned. Seriously, I am down, after losing 94 pounds, to 6 vanity pounds. At this point, every single pound seems like it makes a difference in my problems areas of loose skin with fat attached to them.

I had more rashes when I weighed more. The fat clinging to the skin weighs it down and makes it sag more. The more fat you lose, the more potential it has to shrink back up. At least that's been my experience.

Here's how I look at it. I was very embarrassed of my obese body. I wore body hiding clothes, was never seen in a bathing suit except for at a beach with strangers and only my immediate family, kept the lights off during intimacy, never wore shorts, etc etc. I hated my body. So now, I may be embarrassed of some loose or saggy skin, my tummy rolls when I sit down, my thighs aren't as thin as they were when I was this weight in my teens. But under normal clothes, it can be fairly hidden. And I remind myself, that I may be embarrassed, but at least I'm not FAT and embarrassed. Because you can't cover up fat. It always showed that I was 90 pounds overweight. Nothing hides 90 pounds. But clothes hide skin. And I'm less and less embarrassed of the skin as time goes by, because I'm so proud of having lost 75 freaking pounds, and I'm learning that svelte isn't the only way to have a rockin and healthy body. Screw svelte. I'm healthy and happy and I still eat bread and chocolate. I'm learning to not care that I have loose skin or some flubber. I actually let my daughter jiggle my tummy and we giggle because I want her know that if she ever has a jiggly tummy, that she shouldn't be embarrassed of it11
