What? You guys look back in history. People have always done stupid things that make no sense. Once it was how many people you can fit into a VW Bug. Not that long ago, really, and before that there was something else.0

I fit 13 high school kids in a Porsche 944 once...to take them all to school.
Wasn't quite how many people in a bug...but, it'e relevant!

I had to google it after one of my FB friends posted a picture. Its kinda funny but kinda stupid too. If you google image search "the laying down game" there are a ton of pictures. I just think those pictures make people look dead or like a mannequin haha.0

Well, I don't know anything about these crazy planks everyone is talking about (& that I looked up), but I do the 'normal' plank & side plank, where you hold yourself up similar to how you do a push up. That I know is a good workout & is very good for all of your core muscles. I do a plank for a little bit everyday.0

you just wanted to name drop that you had a porsche. come on. admit it. LOL0 -
Yeah there are always stupid things that people will do in life and we don't question those, I think it's pretty dumb to watch someone drive exceedingly fast around a track but apparently that's like a national sport (if you can call it that)/pasttime, or what about pie eating contests? What does that prove? Admittedly I can't say much on the 'roots in slavery' aspect of planking, but unless people are going around forcing others to plank then what's the big deal?0

I plank every night from the hours of 10pm - 6am and I been doing it for years! How come no one made a big deal out of it when I was doing it? I never get credit! :sad:0

Perhaps planking’s time had come, suggests the Washington Post. The rapper Xzibit and various other Twitter users implied that planking was actually racist, as the body position involved is supposedly similar to that of the African slaves who were packed onto European slave ships four to five centuries ago on the Middle Passage. Dr. Marcus Rediker say slaves were kept on the lower planks of ships, which some critics believe lends credence to Xzibit’s complaint. Yet most people seemed to agree that planking is simply a silly pastime and there was no strong connection between the dark past of slavery and the Facebook phenomenon.0

Do you know your memes? Do hot Facebook trends fail to catch the heat of your originality? Then you have to know that planking is so two months ago. According to the Washington Post, things like coning and forking tried to make it big, but only owling has the wings to stay aloft. Owling: Because planking is crusty old. Planking is a humorous public social exercise in which a human photo or video subjects lie down in surprising locations like stiff wooden planks for the sake of sharing the event on Facebook. It began in 2009 on Facebook with the “Lying Down Game,” aka planking. I'm probably going to come off as the biggest A-hole when I say this, but years ago my friend and I used to do 'human swastikas' around the bookstore.
Of course we were referring to the Tibetan symbol for good luck...0
