SAY "NO" TO LATE NIGHT SNACKING -- DECEMBER 2016 CHALLENGE

Tired of self-sabotaging by munching after dinner? Upset that you double your in-calories at night? Then it's not just me . To get some help (or inspire us by your good example), please join us in this challenge.
You set what you feel is late night snacking. For example, if you have extra calories left for the day, you can have a snack if it's small. Others decide not to eat at a past a certain time. It's up to you.
We go by the formula:
Me: "number indicating how many evenings you stuck to it"
LNS: "number of times late night snacks won"
Example: Me: 2 - LNS: 0 indicates I won the first two nights.
Some people also add a * to the latest number. In the example, that would be
Me: 2 - LNS: 1*
if LNS won the 3rd night.
It's as simple as that. Or as complicated, as you will discover. Nevertheless, the persistence and good results of some of our "old" members (and some people keep coming back) show that the battle is worthwhile .
You will notice some people post streaks of how many days they are free of late night snacking. This is definitely not a requirement, but if you want to do it for motivation, it works well.
Welcome!

Guys, how do you fight those binges and urges? I don't have problems with over-eating nor snacking throughout the day, I eat BIG dinner around 6:30pm, then soneting else at 7:45pm to be sure that I'm not hungry later, but starting from 11:30 I'm gone - I wanna eat, eat, eat. Otherwise I can't even fall asleep till very late.
Right now - in bed, trying to be strong and not to visit my fridge :-)
I read through November's challange and didn't find tips on fighting those binges. Tips from internet (eat breakfast, count calories, etc) don't work either. Do you have good tips?
I start myself :-) Years ago I tried this and lost ca 16kg - just willpower first couple of weeks which then became habit. Now I don't find the willpower for the first weeks :-(1 -

I used to be a huge binge eater at night. I would do good all day then blow it at night with bags of candy, chips, etc. Stress eater! This was a habit that lasted 20+ years and got me to 324 lbs..... Then, I started here and found this challenge. It just became a habit. I just decided that it was something that I needed to do to lose weight. In the morning, I log all of my food, just stick to it for the day. I make sure that I have a realistic calorie goal that works for me. When calories are done, I'm done. There are nights that my stomach growls. Water and diet ice tea usually helps. If I'm hungry that I can't fall asleep, I will have something, just call it a LNS win the next day...... Most days are good, very few aren't. The benefit of losing 82 lbs has pushed me through it.
It's all about personal choices and finding what works for you. Going by what you wrote, you eat the majority of your food later in the day. It's alright to have a cutoff time at 11pm or so. Just stay within your calories recommended here, you will lose weight.7 -
This is my major weakness. I tell myself I'm not hungry, but every time I pass through the kitchen I nibble. Count me in.

Hi - I joined this group last month and I've found it really helpful at keeping me on track. I like the idea of ME winning over LNS cravings.... I am in control.
Try drinking a full glass of water or have a hot drink. You just have to ride it out chick.... It will get easier... We will break the habit.
If I ate the right things I don't suppose it would matter so much and LNS but I never crave a salad at 8pm!

Really enjoying the comments. Any other night owls out there? I tend to eat dinner after 8p.m., & I rarely get to bed before 1a.m. at the earliest. So for me, a LNS is anything after 11pm. Anyone else in the same boat?
(Sometimes I'll even wait till after midnight to snack & then log my snack for the next day.)3 -
Lol bobbylou23, funny, I never crave a salad for a LNS either!1

Welcome everyone!!! Remember, we can do this! Just take one day at a time.3

Hi! I would say going to bed, busying myself with reading, surfing the net help and working my jigsaw puzzles on my iPad help. Most helpful is knowing I'm accountable to this group.
November was a horrible month for me, though, with having a cold and wanting comfort food and binge TV watching and then wanting to binge on food/LNS.
One thing is that if I am very hungry I will have a sugar-free candy or mint. That sometimes helps. Tea or flavored water is also good.
I am always looking for suggestions, too.5
