P.H.U.L or P.H.A.T for me?

I have been lifting for three years now and not new to compound lifts at all, I got injured 9 months ago and stayed without lifting on *kitten* diet for like 6 months. My rms before injury were

Bench - 225*2
Squat - 315*8
Deadlift - 365*3

I just started lifting again in October and lost almost all my strength and was on cut to loose all that access fat I had and now I wanna build up size but also increase all that strength i lost so I am going to run power/hypertrophy routine now and my current rms are

Bench - 180*1
Squat - 245*2
Deadlift - 265*2

Which programme would you suggest for me? Power hypertrophy upper lower split or Layne Norton's P.H.A.T?

    Any Layne Norton program you follow will have a combination of strength and hypertrophy. Personally, I really thought PHUL was well balanced, but I haven't done PHAT. What would fit your schedule better?

    I really enjoyed PHUL prior to dealing with some injuries. I had to stop it after about 8 weeks due to my tendinitis issues. It got to a point where I couldn't even curl 40 lbs. The few people I know who have done PHAT, do rather enjoy it. Many of them where coming off PHUL.

    PHAT is a lot more volume than PHUL + 5 days in the gym - so if you can handle the volume and have the time I'd try it. I personally love Upper/Lower workouts but it is nice to change it up and have a day just to blast Back & Shoulder alone, etc.

    PHAT is a lot more volume than PHUL + 5 days in the gym - so if you can handle the volume and have the time I'd try it. I personally love Upper/Lower workouts but it is nice to change it up and have a day just to blast Back & Shoulder alone, etc.

    How much did you progressed running phat? Strength wise?

    Oh, absolutely. My squat on heavy days went from 175 to 235 (I was fairly new to real heavy lifting).

    I'm currently on PHAT and using Wendlers 5/3/1 programming for my compound lifts on the heavy days, which im really enjoying. I also had to reduce some of the volume on the hypertrophy days seeing as it's a program made by an enhanced lifter my based towards enhanced lifters in regards to volume. All in all I enjoy it quite a bit.

    I'm not SUPER familiar with them- but I did some research on PHAT- but it was to many days in the gym for me- I love the concept- but I don't have 5 days a week to devote to lifting- I need 3- and I need my program to be all encompassing because of that. Being said- I LOVED the idea of this program- it just doesn't mesh with my life.

    I don't know that I would want to do PHUL's two power days back to back- and two hypertrophy days back to back. - For me I'd prefer to have a day between big lifts.

    so- I'd pick PHAT if I could- but I'm totally bais- and have never done either.

    Where in Jersey do you lift?

    So you haven't done any of those? Phat is like Phul with more volume. And I don't live in Jersey lol 54 is my Jersey number

    I was largely a noob, so I suspect I was a good responded. Likewise, I didn't see as large of a jump on upper body.

    ETA: I moved onto Wendler 5-3-1 now (switched the programming a bit), so we will see how my 1RM changes. It's a great program.

    So you haven't done any of those? Phat is like Phul with more volume. And I don't live in Jersey lol 54 is my Jersey number

    No- I researched PHAT toward the end of my Sheiko cycle to try something new- but it wasn't for me because of the time (5 days) in the gym. The volume wasn't the issue- at all- it was merely the time spent- I wanted some hypertrophy- but I can't afford to do full bodybuilder/body part splits- so it wasn't for me.

    But I can tell by looking at PHUL- I would not be happy lifting so big back to back without a day of rest- I've done that before (when my days get messed up sometimes I have to slot a work out over a day- eliminating my rest day) and I don't care for it. It's doable- but for me it's not something I'd want to do regularly.

    But no- I have no first hand experience with the programs directly. I know another girl on here who did PHAT and really loved it.

    10-4 on the jeresy vs New Jersey LOL- I live in the dirty- so always interesting to see if there are lifters to connect with.

    Pretty good but I am on recomposition (UD2 diet). So all hypertrophy work when I eat less and powerlifting work when I eat more - on a weekly basis. I tilt the program toward powerlifting, tbh. Hypertrophy days are more like active rest and mobility work- mentally to me

    Each set I was adding weight (generally 5 lbs). And the following week, I was started at my previous max.
