Do I need to work out to maintain weight or can I do that on diet alone?

No, you don't have to. But moving is good for you. You don't have to do any planned exercise or go to a gym. You can walk, or dance, or play. But you don't have to.

Weight is a matter of calorie intake. But moving is always a good idea. You'll get more fit and it's good for you.

If you don't mind getting flabby and don't need any of the other benefits of exercise for your health, you don't need to workout.

Have to? No...you don't have to exercise to lose weight or maintain weight...but it's a hell of a lot harder. It's going to be much easier to overeat if you don't exercise regularly.

On top of that, IMO, regular exercise is essential to overall health, particularly if you're an otherwise sedentary person.

The research on long term maintainers says daily exercise seems to differentiate people who regain and those who don't. However, although I walk every day, I am NOT a gym bunny. I use a pedometer and just hit my 10K steps.

No you don't have to workout to maintain, if you eat the same as you burn you will maintain your weight. But exercise is good for us for so many reasons.

You can eat some of those calories back but if you aren't losing then you are eating more than you should.
