Gingerbread cookies. I only make them at Xmas. Yes, they have to be mine because most people think gingerbread = hard af, aka a ginger snap.

Sugar/butter/almond cookies. But made with good ingredients... I'm really picky about my cookies... Really don't like baking them though.

Or a good Yule log. I made a chestnut one a couple years ago that was to die for, probably going for hazelnut praline this time though.

I'm not a big desert guy...at least not traditional pies and whatnot. I'll probably just have some homemade egg nog.

Nut horns (they might be called Kifles - I am not exactly sure). It is a family tradition with my in-laws. We get together to make them. We usually make them sometime between Thanksgiving and Christmas. They are a huge pain to make so we only make them once a year.

I'm not a big sweets person so I make a beeline for the fancy cheese, meat and cracker trays- I can do some serious calorie damage with a cheese ball lol!

And then it's a tradition for my mother -in-law to make a huge batch of snack mix that we eat on Christmas when we open gifts-loads of assorted nuts, check mix, pretzels, fishy crackers, oil and a homemade seasoning concoction, baked on low for hours-sooooo good!

My favourite are my mom's cookies.. she makes amazing shortbread and rugelachs. This year she's not making them, I am making some biscotti but meh, not the same.

Apple pie, when I alone make it with Cortland apples, which have not been seen in Florida for 2 years. :-( No apple pie, but also no temptation!

Christmas dessert: cream, powdered sugar, mini-marshmallows, pineapple chunks, and pecan chips whipped together, then chilled outside provided the weather is cold enough (being in Ohio it usually is cold that day). We also used to make a bunch of different cookies: oatmeal raisin, buttercotch, peanut butter, and chocolate chip.

Cranberry Date Nut Bars that I make--addictive. Haven't made any this year as I know they will do me in.

Also I really love Peppermint Bark from Williams-Sonoma or Vermont Nut Free.

    I bake a lot. My go to's:
    Chocolate Chip - mine rock
Spider Cookies - both coconut and peanut butter varieties
    Italian Christmas Cookies
Apple pie - Cortland apples only
    Peanut butter pie
    Chocolate sugar cookies

    Egg nog. Yum.

Cheese cake is a favourite of mine, Nut mixes with seeds, coconut and a few chocolates. I usually get beef jerky in my stocking too.

Before switching to LCHF, I used to eat a homemade cinnamon bun or two every day over the holidays. Now? I'll just have one. Too much sugarwhich affects how I feel for a few hours.

I'm skipping all of the "holiday" desserts. I've been having dreams at night about eating chocolate pudding and brownies. I am making a huge pan of Ghiradelli brownies for Christmas and that will be the only dessert I have. I would just make them now, but then the entire pan would sit in my house. I need to wait until I can have one and leave the rest with family. I can't be trusted around those brownies.

    And, of course, Nanaimo bars.

    Dutch apple pie.

There's an apple orchard that's local to me that makes their own take and bake pies that are AMAZING and they're a tradition in my family for as long as I can remember. We have one at Thanksgiving (along with pumpkin and pecan, of course) and at Christmas. I didn't have any this year at Thanksgiving because I ate WAAAY too much dinner and was physically ill by dessert time. I didn't even want to take a piece home.

Needless to say, I'm counting the days...

I'm a traditionalist and will enjoy my once-a-year treat of plum pudding with brandy butter on Christmas day. Though I think we will be having pavlova too - and it will look suspiciously like the one @machka9 posted I think. The better question might be whether there any Aussies who won't be having pavlova on 25 December?

Although yesterday I helped with a cooking frenzy that included proper old fashioned stuff like coconut ice and cheese biscuits from the Women's Weekly biscuit book (not a dessert, but a treat) and a new experiment with some seriously delicious panforte. Yum!
