Long story short, went to vegas for christmas. I got food poisoning BEFORE our fancy Christmas eve dinner and ran out of the restaurant before ordering. I threw up 4 times (A LOT each time) plus other way (I know TMI)....Sooooo if CICO really all that matter....Does that mean if i lost all that food and dont eat double since I dont have an appetite yet did I lose real lbs? I left friday morning at 125.5 and came back monday morning at 123.1. All i wanted for christmas was a fancy dinner and family time, instead I got food taken out of me and ran away from my family lol sad monkey here!

Pretty much all water weight and glycogen stores loss. Provided you are eating again, you'll bounce right back or very near to your pre-food poisoning weight in a few days.

Now if the vomiting and diarrhea had continued for more days, then your body turns to the fuel sources it has available - glycogen, fat, muscle and the lack of eating would mean your body was fueling on itself.

I would say this is not an excellent idea to think on too heavily. It's quite obvious that these things work, otherwise bulimia wouldn't be a thing.

As to whether all the weight lost was fat, water, etc. I can't say for sure. Just carry on with a healthy diet going forward making sure to avoid any potential triggers while still healing (like spicy and acidic foods).

I hope you're feeling better now! But to answer your question, most of what you "lost" is probably water. Concentrate on rehydration for the next week or so, and wait till you stabilize before weighing in.

I spent 5 days sick, three in the hospital after the Phoenix in KCMO poisoned me. Any weight loss quickly disappeared.

First let me say I am sorry you got food poisoning for Christmas - that really sucks. I hope you are feeling better,

I would say that while yes it may have been a bit of a calorie saver for that one day, it is probably just a lot easier to not take it into account for calorie counting (so count the full food you ate that day when you are logging). It would be way to hard to figure out what calories were, uh, rejected by your body so to speak, so while you probably did take in less than you would have recorded, you can't really determine it. Plus I doubt it was really that much of a difference.

I have IBS-D (which has actually gotten a lot better thankfully) and while I am sure that has an effect on calories since there are times that the food doesn't really stay in there for very long (trying not be gross) I just count all the calories and if I am lucky enough to have a few less that is the one bonus to it (because there really are no good points to IBS-D so I have to try and find at least a little bright side).

Basically just log everything for that day like you would normally is pretty much what I am trying to say. You may be low that because you couldn't really eat all day (since you didn't eat dinner you obviously wouldn't be logging the calories you would normally have had), but in the long run it won't be much of a difference.

Did you at least win at the casino?

It's basically as if you fasted, so you probably burned some body fat. Keep in mind a pound of fat is about 3500 calories, so some of your weight loss was other stuff.

ProTip - Avoid drinking lots of fluids when eating out, because it flushes food out of your stomach before the gastric acid can kill the bacteria. :+1:
