Hello, I also am trying to loose 100+ pounds. What kind of things will you be doing?2

I've lost 110 pounds. It took me 4+ years, but I believe I can keep it off for good because I did it slow and steady. I'd be happy to offer help and encouragement as you walk on your journey to better health.17

I have 100+ to lose, feel free to add me, always looking for new friends2

When I first started, I needed to lose 120lbs. I have lost 82lbs over the past 2 years. I only got really serious about my weight loss about a year ago. My best advice is don't be blindsided by the bigger picture. Savor reaching the smaller milestones. You got this!7

My name is Leo. I just wanted to stop by and say this is great that you all are trying to make a change in your life. Take it one day at a time. Always focus on the big picture ahead. Doing this will allow you to put in the effort that you need day by day. Understand you will not always be motivated to do so. But with effort and discipline you can push through. For example, just going to work everyday is not always a motivating thing. Because of a bigger picture like making sure your kids/family are ok, making sure bills are paid, having a home to live in, or just basic needs in life. Knowing this things alone gives you the effort and discipline to say, although I may not feel like it today, there is a bigger reason why I need to.
Surround yourself (like you are) with an environment of encouragement and empowerment. Understand during this journey everyone is not going to understand and some may even try to be negative about it. It's ok because your journey is not for everyone to understand. That is why this called "Your Journey". Use any negativity or etc as fuel to strive to keep doing things better and better each day. The only person you need to compare yourself to is you and only you. You can take some of the principles from other people experiences or ideas, but everyone wears a different shoe size. It will take experimenting, trial, and error. But the only way to learn what works and how it works is by trying and not being afraid to fail. Instead, use those opportunities to gain the knowledge and understanding you need to succeed and reach your goals.
It starts with your mindset. Once that is right then everything else will follow including the body and all. If you are really truly serious about making a change to your health and body then your nutrition is something you should research about, get help from a trainer or nutritionist or etc. (Make sure you research them as well to make sure you get someone who has your best interest at heart and wants to teach you and help you)
Once you get your mind right and understand your goals and wants, then you can develop a plan or get help with developing a plan that fit's your goals, body type, and etc. This plan should include Nutrition, Strength Training, Cardio/Conditioning and Rest. Gaining that understanding and knowledge of how to incorporate these elements as a plan will then help you begin your journey.
With all that being said you may not want to go as hard core. You just may want to make simple changes. Everyone is not trying to be a bodybuilder, fitness guru, make hard core changes or etc. But even then figure out what works for you and makes you happy and go for it. Make the moderation's/changes that you need by learning, researching, or getting the advice or help you need. Just take it one day at a time. No need to go to the extreme. Put in the work required and you will see the results you want. You all got this. MAXIMUM EFFORT AT ALL TIMES

Hi, I turned 50 yesterday and still find myself at just about the heaviest I've been. So instead of getting frustrated, last night I made many of the suggestion that Leo recommended. One step at a time, for as long as it takes, we all can do this.2

When I first started MFP several years back I had over 200 lbs to lose. I got 175 down and had a rough pregnancy and accompanying huge setbacks/gains but I'm now less than 40 lbs from my final goal. It takes time and effort, which I'm sure you know. One other thing I would recommend along with what Leo said above is to spend some time looking at why/how you got to where you are. These days I spend a lot of time analyzing whether my head is hungry (emotional hunger) or my body is hungry (physical hunger), along with choosing the best fuel I can with the help of my nutritionist. There are several groups here on MFP of individuals with similar goals--like "Let's Lose 100+." I wish you the best! You CAN do it!4

I started this journey in January 2016 at 378 Lbs. I am now 221 and have lost 157 Lbs and will turn 50 in a couple days so if I can do this, anyone can. Prior to this I thought I was too old and fat to lose the weight but I was wrong. I have 106 left to lose and I am going to do this.
My best wishes to everyone on your journey.21 -

Hello there, have about 200 to loose. Any advice would be helpful!! Feel free to add me.1

Yes, around 150 to lose! I am just trying to be consistent with tracking my food for now. So far I am keeping under the allotted calories MFP is telling me to consume, so that it moving things in the right direction. I want to do a slow and steady approach so I am not still trying to lose all this weight a year from now. I figure it will be something I have to work at for the rest of my life so no need to sprint to the finish line.0

I've lost 100lbs so far with 30 still left to lose but I will get there. My biggest advice to people on the same journey is to make sure you do things properly and at a reasonable pace rather than thinking you will get it done quickly (I know this is a cliche but it really is true). The more research you do and the healthier choices you make will put you in good stead for the future to keep the weight off.
Also, be aware that family and friends may be supportive but you may experience certain people showing misplaced concern for you and asking that you are ok all the time. I've had this a lot in the last few months and it is quite difficult to deal with as I know my family love me but it's almost like they are trying to stop me losing the last bit of weight. Just stay strong, know what your doing and don't be afraid to ask others in the same position for advice. These forums have really helped me out a lot when I've started questioning my decision due to family/friends comments. Good luck all!1 -
Long term I need to lose about 110lbs more for my height but I've already lost about 30lbs! I'm taking it one day at a time and celebrating the small victories and not thinking about the 110lbs. Anyone is welcome to add me!0
