What are you giving up in 2017?

Hi all!
Because a new year calls for improvement, are there any things in your life that you are cutting out in order to lose weight, become more healthy or improve your well-being?
For me it's sugar.
Diabetes and eating disorders run strong in my family and I noticed that I was starting to move towards that path these last couple of months. I binge eat on sweets in general and when Im counting calories, I often avoid eating healthy food (or anything considered real food) in order to fit in cookies, chips, cakes and ice cream into my diet.
I havent binge eaten in a long time, but Im just done with the control that sugar has in my life.
What about you guys? Comments, thoughts?
Oh and happy new year!

I will be cutting way back on the beer and wine and since the soda has already been cut way back I aim to eliminate it completely. Basically all high carb and sugary drinks. I do like my wine but I also don't need to drink it every single weekend lol.2

I'm not giving up anything. I have found that being overly restrictive on my food choices leads to failure and bingeing. I do much better when I focus on eating healthy throughout the day and fitting in a treat or two at the end of the day.
Best of luck in making the changes you desire.

The only thing I plan on giving up next year is the 10-15 extra pounds of fat that currently resides around my midsection.20

This I can get with! I've tried restricting certain foods from my diet, and it works for a short time, but I eventually slip and binge it, so allowing myself the things I like (in moderation) seems to work the best for me.5 -
Fudge. I've had over five pounds of it this week, lol.4

Yup. Restricting certain foods is a recipe for disaster as far as my eating habits are concerned. It's much easier for me to control portion sizes of the foods I like and to supplement that with regular exercise.1 -
You all are great!! I love hearing everyones pov~

I'll take it! There are a few things I still have trouble moderating. I have overcome ice cream. I need to work on fudge. What kind is it? <whyistherenodroolingemoji>3 -
I'm giving up the attitude that I'm unable to do whatever I want to do in my life.15

I'm giving up the attitude that I'm unable to do whatever I want to do in my life.
This ^^^
For the first time in my life I passed a math class in college and it inspired me to pursue medicine!
That boost of confidence gave me the determination I needed to aspire to do whatever I want!
So that is why I 100% believe YOU can achieve whatever you set your mind to. Dont give up!
Happy Holidays6 -

Thanks for the encouragement And congratulations on passing math!2 -
I just deleted a bunch of freeloading, half-arsed friends from my life.
That should count for something, yeah?21 -
I'm giving up on maintenance to lose the last several pounds.
Also, giving up on excuses that prevent me from achieving my fitness goals of jogging far, kicking higher, punching harder and lifting heavier.
No way in hell I'll be giving up my treats like chocolate, cheese puffs, etc. My aim is to NOT be miserable next year.6 -
WEEKLY PIZZA.
I love pizza and have been eating it about once a week lately. I always go all out and do 3-4 slices plus ranch which is my whole day's worth of calories. I'm good about planning it in but it means shorting myself before and/or after which sort of feels like I'm making up for it the rest of the week. I think I'll institute a single pizza day each month. That way I can still look forward to it without regretting it for the rest of the month.3 -

Me too, but why do I feel so guilty about doing it?
OP - giving up my dislike for strength training. Not giving up anything else I need my foods!!1 -
I'm giving up control! I'm giving up the comfort I find in controlling what I eat as it ends up controlling my happiness. I'm giving up restricting myself to an unrelenting focus on health as it lessens my well being. In return- I expect to gain a sense of security from not fearing food or losing control. I'm going to turn into the spin to stop it!2

Only one thing I'm giving up in 2017; failure.11

I'm planning on giving up about another 3% - 5% of bodyfat.8
