I love pound puppies but my favorite breed hands down Is a well bred Doberman Pinscher. Standard Poodles are number 2. Giant Schnauzers are number 3. I'm lucky enough to have one of each in my life right now plus a cat and a mini poodle.

I actually have 3 Labrador retrievers and a Silky Terrier.
I badly want to get a Staffordshire Bull Terrier but pit bull breeds aren't allowed where I'm from so in about 5 years I plan on getting a German shepherd in stead.

No dogs currently and maybe not ever again because it hurts too much when they die.
My last two dogs were a long haired chihuahua and a smooth fox terrier schnauzer mix. Before that there were a lhasa apso and a sweet little black mutt.
I don't have a breed preference. I think pugs are cute.0 -
I have a good old mutt. Some kind of border collie mix we guess. He's turning 13 this year.
I want a newfie next though!0 -

My hybrid that I found at the pound. She's a golden retriever - standard poodle mix. 77 pounds of love-hound.

When you say 'pit bull breeds' do you mean any dog that could get *confused* with a pit bull or did you mean bull breeds ie staffies, English bull terriers, Bull mastiffs etc.
Only asking as I have heard of a few staffies mistakingly referred to as pits and although similar, dimensions are different. That is what tends to save the life of those who are staffies from those who have elements of american pit bull in them when they're in rescue homes and identified by a specific dog unit here in the UK. But interested in laws in other places. I love them all regardless. I think banned breeds is a ridiculous thing. Onus should be on the damn owner.1 -

Probably... yet so many owners do not do dog training with their dog and then let them off lead or do not enclose them properly in the interest of safety for both small children and smaller dogs.
How many times do you hear of a dog attacking a child in the childs own yard or a dog getting away from its owner and attacking a small dog... happened to my sister in laws dog and Buddy died a terrible death.
It is the manner of these dogs breeds bite that close and lock onto a smaller dogs leg.. or whatever.. which is why they have been restricted in some countries including Australia

Havanese. Not a guard dog but full of love and great with kids! Hypoallergenic and no shedding. Easy to train.
