Just had my one month post-op appointment. The surgeon says in 2 weeks I'll have no physical restrictions! "That way you can start training for a marathon" he joked. I told him I'd actually like to train for a half marathon and an Olympic Triathlon later this year but wasn't sure if that was feasible as I'll need another follow up procedure. He got the biggest smile on his face. He told me to prioritize my training, to call him with my event dates, and he'll schedule my follow-up around my training. How awesome is that?!53

Today I used a different rowing machine at the gym than I usually do. This one is right in front of a mirror. Instead of watching myself for 45 minutes and thinking fat, I was thinking muscles!36

Being able to shop in the Misses section instead of the Women's Department. Being able to choose clothes rather than settle for something that fits. My feet and fingers also seem to be shrinking! Crazy.24

20 minutes on the eliptical. 5 killed me when I started in September.

The single leg plank (1 min total) has become my "rest exercise" in the middle of my weights workout. Looking back at my journal, I did my first plank 2 years ago this week and barely lasted 30 seconds.23

Just ate 2 Lindt Truffles. Put the other 5 back in the bag for a snack next time I want something sweet. Logged the two I ate. Am quite happy I didn't just inhale them all and pretend it never happened! Made the snack so much more satisfying.45

What a great doc to work with and around a patients wants and needs. Fantastic to have such a support that prioritise both your own health/exercise goals as well as your health requirements. Wonderful!7 -

Same here! Ate 3 chocolates and logged them even though for some reason I always seem to think not logging them counts as not eating them.

Since Christmas the scale hasn't really been moving. I'm guessing it's a combination of water weight from more carbs than usual during Christmas and now my muscles retaining water because I'm back to exercising regularly for the first time since November. I haven't quit logging though! That's a big deal for me because every time in the past that I've tried to lose weight I get discouraged when the scale doesn't move and I just quit logging and gain all the weight back.21

This weekend my younger sister told me I am her inspiration. (Not sure how, she is fairly healthy, lost a lot of weight and has kept it off for a few years, exercises regularly)
Then today my older sister, who is very similar to me, and has always struggled with her weight, and being healthy told me that I am motivating her to lose weight. This almost made me cry. We have struggled with this, and have tried to lose weight before at the same time.
I am so fortunate to have such wonderful family, that supports me in this.35 -

Yesterday after work I counted out my snack (instead of eating directly from the bag) and had a dinner meal plan to stay within my remaining calories. That was an NSV for me, but then I went off the deep end and finished up the peanut M&Ms sitting in the jar. BUT I logged them instead of acting like I never ate them! Note to self: being overtired is an eating trigger for me.32

I tied my own shoes AFTER putting them on yesterday without a struggle.
Used to have to tie them loosely before putting them on because my stomach got in the way.34 -
Almost exactly a year ago I ordered a pair of knee high boots, which I sent back because the were too tight in the calf, I couldn't even zip them up. It sort of broke my heart because they were beautiful boots. A week ago I was inspired to see if the store still had them and I ordered them again. They came yesterday and they fit! So happy .47

It's amazing how much easier running is once you workout and lose weight. A year ago, I struggled to run a half mile at a 5 mph pace. Now I can run easily 3 miles at a steady 7 mph pace without struggling too bad. Running easier has been my biggest NSV39

Struggling through consistent running at 5 mph; up to 2 miles on treadmill, adding short 6-7 mph sprints and then fast walking at 4 mph to recover. Looking forward to shedding more pounds so that my endurance picks up so I can run 6-7 mph without stopping for 3 miles (5K goal). Trying not to be a slave to the display (how many more minutes still? how many more miles left? how many more triangles that go around the display marking a quarter mile?) I actually figured out at 6 mph, the current flashing triangle flashes 10 times before moving to the next one. I literally counted them all out as I huffed and puffed the last quarter mile of 2 mile run...13 -
I have had ankle problems for a couple of years since getting a bad sprain. It has been aggravated to the point recently that I had to stop giving my yellow lab his 2-3 mile walk every day. I have discovered that rocker bottom shoes have solved the ankle problem! My NSV is that now I can hit the trail with my dog again to burn even more calories every day!28

ha! so glad i randomly came upon my old reply. i squat with 18lbs per hand and deadlift with 24lbs per hand now, nice to see my progress24 -
I live near Yosemite National park in California and we have had massive rainfall resulting in flooding and evacuations. I volunteer at the Visitor's Center for the park and surrounding area.
The Red Cross has an office set up at the Visitor's Bureau and has been very busy with the storm evacuations. Yesterday I offered my help for today & tomorrow and was told there would be alot of phone work for me to do.
Figuring that I would be spending 2 days sitting on the phone, I pushed myself extra hard yesterday and clocked 13 miles on my fitness tracker.
This morning my body was stiff and sore, so before I went in, I did some yoga and walked an easy 3 miles to warm up my muscles.
I got to the Command Center and was sent off to the evacuation building at a local church as all evacuations were being lifted as of noon today (yay!).
Yep, I spent the next couple hours breaking down cots and hauling them and all other supplies to the van so they could go back to storage.
So I got an extra work out in and am rewarding myself with a nap.

I actually went to the gym and worked out for the first time in way longer than I like to admit. Walking out into the cold with my blood pumping afterwards felt amazing, and now I can't wait for my next trip on Thursday!25

I've been off this for a while and big NSV for me today was fighting the urge to get a cupcake at work. I fought myself so hard! I actually did it! Seems small but it is huge for me.36

Reading this, you would think I posted it. I can do 3.2 miles on the treadmill with 1% incline, but I can't seem to go faster than 4mph.1 -
Had my vitals tested yesterday. Result? All normal!!! What an NSV!!
Icing on the cake was my HbA1C. It now reads 4.7%. And, my Average Blood Glucose is now at 88.
