Low carb dieter trying to get recipes and your stories

I've been diagnosed with candida overgrowth. I was eating lots of sugars and carbs for the last 3 months... I started to get cystic pimples and I am 29!!! So in an effort to stop the cystic pimples from happening I started a low carb diet. Mind you, I had a successful weight loss of over 100 pounds with the Atkins diet about 8 years ago. I went from 250 to 150 in less than a year. However, after I had my daughter I never went back to 150pds. I've been trying to stick to the Atkins diet but I just don't find that motivation I had before. I now weight 190 and I begin the Atkins diet but end up cheating with little treats here and there. I work out 60 minutes or more everyday. I eat relatively healthy but I'm still not losing weight and it's been almost a month. I haven't even lost 1 pound. Anyone has good recipe ideas??? I'm dying to know if anyone could help with recipes and ideas.

My favorite low-carb breakfast recipe: 1 carb protein waffles. I use:
1 scoop (34g of protein powder - I use PEScience frosted chocolate cupcake flavor, its 1g carb/ scoop).
1 whole egg
50g egg whites
1/2 teaspoon of baking powder
2 teaspoons of stevia sweetener
4-5 sprays of cooking oil spray to grease the waffle maker
I whisk all of these ingredients in a bowl with a metal whisk until well-combined. I don't add any water or milk.
I pour it into my hot waffle maker slowly, I leave it open for 2 minutes to allow the batter to cook for a bit so that it doesn't spill over when I close it shut. I then hold the lid closed half-shut for a minute, before closing it completely and cooking the waffle for a further two minutes. I top mine with sugar-free syrup, peanut butter, and sometimes berries and slices of banana. You could also use yogurt or sugar-free whipped cream.
If you don't have a waffle iron you could cook these in a well-greased non-stick skillet and make pancakes instead.
Hope it helps!0 -
If you think you should be losing more, you may need to start weighing food and counting calories. I lose better with a low carb diet, but if I eat too much I stop losing or start gaining. Perhaps check your food to make sure you have a caloric deficit.
If you want more low carb support, join the Low Carber Daily MFP group. They are a supportive bunch who range from vegan to carnivore, and from almost zero carbs to over 150g per day. They can help. http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/394-low-carber-daily-forum-the-lcd-group0 -
Hi. I've always thought I've been good with my food intake and always stayed active but never find weight loss easy. Until one day I spoke to a mum at my kids' school. She told me she tries to stay off carbs in the morning and during lunch and only consume carbs at her evening meal. At times even snacks in the evening! So I've done some of my own research and found that consuming carbs at night is in fact the best time to do so. In fact, carbs is a vital part of our diet so I know you mention you are required by health to go on this low carbs diet but try to eat a decent amounts for dinner as that will speed up your metabolism and fat burning process. (What is recommended for you by a doctor, that is). So I've tried doing that and started exercising since October and have lost a stone! Because I eat my carbs in the evening meal, I find that I don't crave or I'm not hungry in morning and have no cravings. So every morning I start my low carbs diet by eating food full of other vitamins and minerals. Variety of stir fry vegetables, salads and venture out on different high protein recipes. At around 5pm I have a good size dinner which includes carbs. Then make veg and fruits smoothie with the kids and have that too. Always fill full and sleeps properly too! I use to run around 20 mins about 3 to 4 times a week but now because of the weather, I do workout videos for about 30 to 40 mins at home whenever I can fit that in my schedule during mother of 2 boys and work. My Sundays are my rest days but try not to binge eat then and still stay sensible. Hope this helps like it has helped me. Don't get me wrong, there have been days during the week where I give in to those cravings by eating a piece of chocolate or biscuit. These cravings are getting less now that I replace them with veggie smoothies during the day and fruits smoothie after dinner.0
