Zoodles

First attempt at zoodles. Not good! I read that you can dry them out with salt and then rinse it off right before you put sauce on it. I totally forgot to rinse it. How do you cook your zoodles?

I haven't found a good way, yet. Ugh. I want to like them. I really do, but I can't get them the right consistency. I finally gave up and just went back to sautéing sliced zucchini and putting my chicken and marinara over that. Lol
Following to get some ideas.1 -
I sauté in butter and olive oil, cook off the excess liquid, then stir in pesto and parmesan.5

Ooooo. That sounds good0

I usually eat them raw4

This. When they're cooked the taste and, worse, consistency changes.2 -

I am going to try raw next time.0

I Sautee with either water or pam olive oil, and put Italian seasoning on them while cooking. I hate steamed because they get way too watery and gross.0

Cut your zoodles, then gather them in a bunch, and place them in cheesecloth. Then squeeze all the excess water out of them before cooking. Get a saute pan and place some sort of fat, olive oil, coconut oil, or whatever you want to use, make sure your saute' pan is hot place the zoodles in the pan, they should sizzle and start to brown up, then season season the zoodles, reduce the heat to a medium heat and cook until golden brown and tender. Plate them and finish them with a sauce, or anything you want.7

Usually just raw if I'm putting a sauce on them. For salad I will spinkle with salt and let them sit in a colander in the sink to drain the excess liquid, then pat with paper towels so the salad doesn't get watery.0

I mix mine in meat sauce the last few minutes then bake in oven3

Zucchini noodles. They can be made with a spiralizer or with a vegetable peeler. Other vegetables can be spiralized into noodles too.

I saute in a non-stick pan until they dry out a bit and I also make my sauce a bit thicker to offset the water that sometimes comes out. If you don't like Zuchinni try carrots, butternut squash or parsnips (calories are a little higher). Lots of veggies can be used in place of noodles. Carrots are lovely with a creamy sauce but I prefer Zuchinni with a meat sauce.0

I love my spiraly zoodles with pesto, shrimp and parmesan cheese! I haven't had a problem with them being too watery yet. I only add them at the end to heat them up though, they still have a little crunch (if you don't mind that). So good! I also like using them, sliced thin, as a lasagna noodle! Delish!
Hope you get to where you find them super wonderful!1 -

If you've never tried them you might want to start with a cheap spiralizer like this one. The nice ones work great but if you end up not being a fan you're not out a ton of money. The cheap ones are only about $10 just about anywhere they sell kitchen supplies. I bought mine on amazon for only $7 and it works just fine.

lay a hand towel down, then paper towels, then zoodles, then sprinkle just a little salt then lay a couple more layers of paper towels on top, let it sit about 15 minutes then switch the paper towels with new ones, and roll them up inside the paper towels and hand towel to sqeeze out more water, dump in a hot pan and cook just enough to heat them up, about 2-3 minutes2

heres how i do it, i learned from this site1 -
I have a spiralizer but more often than not I just use my food processor with the shredder blade. I end up with noodles about 3-4 inches long.
I also don't worry about the water in the zoodles. It usually steams away in the pan when I saute them.
I also use my "zoodles" and make pumpkin zucchini muffins. I add about 5 minutes to the bake time and that takes care of the extra water.1 -

I have this one too. Works well.

I like the larger ones because I wouldn't be able to spiralize turnips, beets, butternut squash, celeriac, etc with the hand held.
Back 5 years ago before I had one, I used to use a peeler. If you wanted to test it out without buying equipment, you can.

If they're for a salad, I leave them raw. For a hot dish, I just microwave them for 30-45 seconds. Gets them warm and they're not watery at all.2

I do what TMacmm does, I have the same spiralizer too. I made a lasagna a couple weeks ago and used the zucchini in place of the pasta and it was amazing! Both of my kids loved it!

I can never get my zoodles right either! I started getting bags of broccoli slaw ( I find them at most grocery stores), lightly spray the pan with Pam (or cooking spray), add salt, pepper, and whatever seasoning you like, and cook until they are geeen and tender! It's so similar to zoodles just way less frustration!1

I put mine in boiling water for two minutes then I add it to sautéed garlic in a tbsp of olive oil with some fresh tomatoes. I then add some fresh basil and either parmagiana cheese or a tiny bit of fresh mozzarella.1

Speaking of the Inspiralizer itself... it's still on a great sale from when she was on HSN or whatever that channel is called? I think her cook books are also still on sale as well! Lowest price I've ever seen it at, lowest enough I think I could convince myself it wouldn't be a splurge. $39.99? Don't quote me but I think that's the current price on sale ..check it out because I don't know how long the sale is off.
Here's the live show click to watch how zoodles are made...recipes etc. Ali, the inventor for this one demo's it.. it shows $29 on this site. ? I'm not trying to sell anything... I just know there's been a lot of ppl wanting this so passing on the info I just found. https://www.hsn.com/products/the-inspiralizer-with-4-noodle-shapes-and-veggie-slicer/82584730 -
