Tea and Apple Cider Vinegar

I just started drinking hot tea with ACV and I'm wondering if anyone else is also, or if anyone has already tried it. It will be a week tomorrow. I drink it 1-2 times a day. I feel like I'm less hungry at dinner time, so I'm hoping this works

I like green tea before bed, helps me sleep.1

What are you hoping the ACV works for? Because it doesn't do much.4
-
I drink tea char I enjoy the taste and it keeps me from snacking.
As for ACV... works great in pulled pork...8 -
I read the MFP message boards sporadically, but from what I've seen, a mob will generally grab their torches when someone mentions a particular food as having helpful properties for weight loss. So just a heads up.
I don't know how accurate this is, but I've read that ACV can help steady blood sugar. So the appetite reduction you feel could possibly be due to that. Could instead be from other things unrelated to the ACV though...
I don't believe ACV can do much else besides possibly impact appetite, so indirectly help weight loss in that way. I think managing our appetite is a key step in weight loss though, so if this helps you, that's great!2 -
I sometimes drink green tea by itself between meals to stave off hunger. That's the best you can hope to happen with your beverage.2

Kombucha is like vinegar, it has a little fizz. It delays the hungries for me.0
-
I sometimes use ACV for heartburn, if I am desperate.0

I appreciate everyone's responses. I don't notice much of a difference until it's close to dinner. I'm not that hungry and basically eat something bc I know I need to eat.0

In all likelihood, that's due to the caffeine in the tea you're drinking. I've yet to see a credible scientific study that shows a link between ACV and appetite suppression.4

Even if ACV increases your metabolism, which really probably doesn't need speeding up, the effect would be very small and short lived. Our bodies are very good at regulating metabolism. Things that speed it up usually do so by irritating the body, and very quickly your body adapts to it so what little effect it has disappears. As mentioned earlier, very few people has slow metabolisms. For that matter, when peoples metabolisms run fast is us almost always a sign of disease and not a good thing. Instead of trying some supposedly magical food that will cause you to lose weight, instead work harder at logging a moderate calorie deficit accurately.3

It does taste great on cooked cabbage.1

I read that you can get some probiotics from acv, but only the the unfiltered kind with that white stuff in it.0

Be careful. If you have lower than average stomach acid......this may help you.
But if you have higher than average stomach acid......this is horrible2 -
I drink a shot of ACV before meals everyday. It does indeed control MY appetite (I can't speak for others). It allows me to practice portion control and I am not hungry after my meals. I do not snack. Last month I lost 24 pounds by controlling my food and appetite. I know some of it was water weight, but I'm still on the losing trend. Also, right now I have a fractured foot and my exercise is limited. ACV has been helpful for me. P.S. I drink ACV straight followed by a chug of water.0

If it works for you, do it! It can't hurt in moderation. It's also good for liver function.0

One of its proven effects is the removal of tooth enamel, so proceed with caution.1

I drink a lot of teas, all of them decaf. Lots of herbal teas. They're great between meal pick-me-ups.
I don't care for vinegar, there's really no benefit to adding it, and I think it would get in the way of the lovely flavor of my favorite teas.0 -
I like that you asked does anyone else drink it .... sadly, on here it's always open season for definitive medical declarations (It's terrible for you, It does nothing for you, It's beneficial for you .... they all come out to play) even if you haven't asked for it. I drink it. I make "faux-bucha" as I call it of Green Tea and a berry flavored tea, a shot of ACV, and a dash of raw honey or maple syrup. I don't give a rat's a** if it has any medicinal value, I enjoy the taste but a bottle of kombucha a day is too much $$ and it helps me eat less just before a meal. I like Braggs or any organic brand that has the "mother" in it.3

Nasty. :sick:1

I drink it too. Every am I mix it with a big glass of water and juice from half a lemon. About 3 times a week in the afternoon I have ACV, lemon, cinnamon and honey in a glass of water.
It helps with energy and keeps me feeling full. My skin has never looked better either.
And why is everyone so judgemental on here? I've only been in the community for a week or so though I've used MFP for a couple years on and off but I'm really turned off of this place because of some of the attitudes I've seen! So many experts! Geez.
If you feel you are benefiting from it that's all that matters. Cheers!2 -

Huh?
Those who generally point out that ACV won't work have actually read the science behind ACV and general weight loss science. Since when is dispelling a myth uncalled for? Also, if they (like you) drink it for the taste, then there's no issue, right? It's one thing to say acv does work for weight loss/is detoxing. This is a public forum where many view the topic and everyone has the right to respond. Adding correct information isn't just for the OP, it's for everyone who is seeking information on the topic.leannehathaway1 wrote: »I drink it too. But there are many experts here from the science, medical and diet/fitness industry that give a lot of their time answering questions.
There are also many who enjoy reading scientific studies. I'd rather listen to them as well as the true experts.
Since when has dispelling information and being knowledgable been a turn off? I'm so saddened that many chose to not learn and get flustered than take the time to learn valuable information from the knowledgable.10 -

Personally I really appreciate the members of this forum that take the time to educate those of us that would like the truth about weight loss. I'd rather not believe the woo, like acv, and waste my time or money or even health on these products.
When I first came here I believed a lot of things that just aren't true and have learned so much that my current weight loss is healthy and much easier than the past. So thank you wise ones!10 -
Tried it, because if anything the whole trick with ACV is that you're drinking a lot of water, hence feeling fuller, eating less, and I'll be honest, I'm horrible about drinking fluids at home. But it's so gross, yuck. It's a fantastic placebo as far as I can tell, not unlike coconut oil (which at least provides healthy fats). As for faux-bucha, hey if you like the taste, go for it.
I've also read into it as well, and have yet to find a peer review that has found any link to ACV and appetite suppression. But if someone knows one, let's get it posted for discussion.0
