What's your current weight and height, and when is the dance?0 -

And how much do you need to lose to get to 154? (Your answer to this question will help us recommend a weight loss plan for you.)

You can realistically lose about three pounds if you start now. But it depends on what your starting weight is.
If you're 160 and want to go to 154...it might be a hard stretch.
If you are 200lbs and want to go to 154...you should have started in 2016.
If you're 155 and want to go to 154...that is doable.3 -
Im 2010

Are they gonna weigh you at the dance? If not, I wouldn't focus too much on the number. I'd just make an effort to maintain a reasonable calorie deficit and be as healthy as you can.9

OK, yeah...losing 47 pounds in less than 3 weeks is impossible. As Sammy stated above, you should have started in 2016.
If you do want to hit 154 eventually (like, in a year), go through MFP's guided set up, set your weekly weight loss goal to 1-1.5 lb/week, and eat at the calorie level MFP gives you. Use a food scale to weigh everything you eat, log everything into MFP so you know how many calories you're eating per day.7 -

You should have started sooner. There's no way to safely lose 50 pounds in two weeks.
But you can lose a few pounds if you get started now. Set up your MFP profile and eat the calorie goal they give you. Lots of people find a food scale helpful in monitoring their intake. Read the stickied posts on top of the forum.4 -
Yeah, losing that kind of weight in less than 3 weeks is not going to happen.
Find a flattering dress and enjoy the dance. Plan better for next time. If you're serious about losing weight, then start logging your food and follow a moderate calorie deficit.6 -
Thanks1

I would start preparing now for next year's dance or the summer. It takes time unfortunately, but don't let that stop you from starting. Think how awesome it would be to start the next school year at the weight you want to be (or very close)...wouldn't that be awesome?7

Go dress shopping and buy one that looks amazing on the figure you have now.9

You lose weight by eating less calories then you burn, your food choices only matter for nutrition, but cake isnt going to make you any fatter then a carrot as long as you stay under goal.
Actually what you put inside your body as calories go matters completely. Not all calories are the same. If you stock up on carbs and fat you're body is prone to store all those extra calories as fat. Creating a calorie deficit is just part of the solution. Get active and change your blood chemistry. That's the best way to lose weight. I would highly recommend trying a Ketogenic diet, especially if you like to see your scale get lower quickly. But if you don't want to change your diet, exercise more, drink more water, and COUNT ALL YOUR CALORIES. Set a limit on yourself for each day. I'm a big guy and I limit myself to 1500 a day and I consistently lose 2+ lbs a week. Remember, it takes a long time to lose weight, and a big part of losing that weight is changing your habits. If you don't change your habits, you won't lose weight.0 -

Let's not confuse issues.
The OP wants to know if she can lose an insane amount of weight in a short period of time. The answer is "no." At least not safely, but probably not at all.3 -

Could you elaborate on the highlighted a bit more? Altering your blood chemistry is so bad for the continuance of life processes.
OP: You won't be able to make that goal, but you can lose a little, get a great outfit, and feel better. Start now, but without a goal date in mind, and continue beyond the date of this dance. You have a whole life ahead of you.3 -
Please let's not derail this conversation with another debate. I feel like new members leave because their threads get hijacked with this kind of nonsense. A few people already said that it's the calories that matter for weight loss (not overall health), so hopefully the OP understands that.
@mayginger855, you won't be able to lose that much by your dance. Just look and be fabulous! Enjoy your time.
If you want to, losing 47 pounds would be a great goal this year. Plug in your stats on MFP, then just log everything you eat and drink now, and go on from there. Best of Luck8 -
