You can realistically lose about three pounds if you start now. But it depends on what your starting weight is.
If you're 160 and want to go to 154...it might be a hard stretch.
If you are 200lbs and want to go to 154...you should have started in 2016.
If you're 155 and want to go to 154...that is doable.3 -

Are they gonna weigh you at the dance? If not, I wouldn't focus too much on the number. I'd just make an effort to maintain a reasonable calorie deficit and be as healthy as you can.9

If you do want to hit 154 eventually (like, in a year), go through MFP's guided set up, set your weekly weight loss goal to 1-1.5 lb/week, and eat at the calorie level MFP gives you. Use a food scale to weigh everything you eat, log everything into MFP so you know how many calories you're eating per day.7 -

Yeah, losing that kind of weight in less than 3 weeks is not going to happen.
Find a flattering dress and enjoy the dance. Plan better for next time. If you're serious about losing weight, then start logging your food and follow a moderate calorie deficit.6 -

I would start preparing now for next year's dance or the summer. It takes time unfortunately, but don't let that stop you from starting. Think how awesome it would be to start the next school year at the weight you want to be (or very close)...wouldn't that be awesome?7

The OP wants to know if she can lose an insane amount of weight in a short period of time. The answer is "no." At least not safely, but probably not at all.3 -

Could you elaborate on the highlighted a bit more? Altering your blood chemistry is so bad for the continuance of life processes.
OP: You won't be able to make that goal, but you can lose a little, get a great outfit, and feel better. Start now, but without a goal date in mind, and continue beyond the date of this dance. You have a whole life ahead of you.3 -
Please let's not derail this conversation with another debate. I feel like new members leave because their threads get hijacked with this kind of nonsense. A few people already said that it's the calories that matter for weight loss (not overall health), so hopefully the OP understands that.
@mayginger855, you won't be able to lose that much by your dance. Just look and be fabulous! Enjoy your time.
If you want to, losing 47 pounds would be a great goal this year. Plug in your stats on MFP, then just log everything you eat and drink now, and go on from there. Best of Luck8 -
