I missed a chance to get a dread disease. I was shopping for a tool, and needed to find a vertical structural frame member hidden behind drywall. I placed the item on the counter in front of the cashier. She glanced at it and said, "I'm a lot better stud finder than that."0

Last Aug there was a guy in KMart who actually struck up a conversation with me. Which never happens! He was prob my age, attractive and looked fit, he was wearing gym shorts and a tshirt. He was in line ahead of me and continued to talk to me while I was being rung up. He seemed to be purposely taking his time putting his receipt away like he was waiting for me to be done. I was trying to give my attention to him but the cashier was yammering away about the weather and I was trying not to be rude to her. Just as I was almost finished paying he left.
I walked out hoping he was waiting but he was gone, never to be seen again. I look for him everytime I go in there now. Lol
Sounds like that was the jackpot. I mean I haven't seen a Kmart in years.2 -
My then-boyfriend and I went to Argentina. He was tired our first night and went to bed; I was wide awake and wanted to have some fun. I wandered into the bar across the street and ended up drinking with a stunning Lebanese girl that I really connected with. I don't know what else might have happened that night, but it didn't matter - my boyfriend came and found me when he decided I had been gone too long. I broke up with him a couple of weeks later, and I really regret not finding a way to keep in touch with her.3

When I was a paperboy there were several cute girls on my route. I was too shy so I never talked to them. I believe I missed several opportunities to kiss a girl before the age of 18.

This thread reminds me of my baseball career. I always wanted to go pro as pitcher but never had a chance since a shoulder injury lead to surgery and then the end of my dream.. Instead I end up teaching and coaching baseball at the high school at the small town we lived in. When I would throw batting practice to the boys they would complain that I was throwing it too hard. I had no way of clocking it. Well, they challenged me, saying that if we won district I would have to go try out when a pro team rolled through town for open tryouts.
I agreed to their bet knowing we had no chance of winning district. To my suprise we did and I followed through on my promise and drove to an open tryout the Devil Rays were having. They liked what I threw, clocking me at 96 mph. I couldn't believe it. A 38 year old, post surgery throwing that hard! I could never get over 88 in my prime!
Long story short, I made it to the Show with the Devil Rays as a 38- year old rookie, pitching for them for almost 2 years.
I almost missed my opportunity. If you have one, take it!

OMG Want to know mine!? I ACTUALLY posted on Missed Connections on Craigslist... I should've just left that part out...
Anyways, I went for an evening run near the bay around San Diego. By the time I was done, it was dark out and not too many people were out. I had this phase where I listened to "In The Air Tonight" by Phil Collins quite a bit. I had this playing through the AUX in my car with the windows down. This guy pulls up in the lane next to my car. I saw him looking over but most people look at me when I'm driving because I'm usually playing air drums and gettin down! So, I ignored him. We both turn left and keep driving. At the next light he rolls down his window and says, "Hey, we're listening to the same song!" I thought I was hearing doubles! But he was right. He turned up his volume and sure enough, he was listening to it too. He was super cute and totally my age and it just seemed way to serendipitous. So missed that...4 -

I was out 1 time having dinner & just minding my own business til the bartender came over & brought me a drink ..I said "I didn't order that" He said "It's from the lady down the end of the bar" I looked over & she was very pretty, just stunning, but I just ordered onion rings & I was so looking 4wrd 2 them ...He said "She would like u 2 join her" I said "Ok ....Hey what's the ETA on those onion rings??" ....She got up & left & got in a limo & took off ....The bartender then said "U do know who that was don't ya? ...That was Jennifer Lopez!" ...I said "Wait .............Is the chef in the back dead?Where the hell are my onion rings?!!" ........(This story was completely made up)
Once I was at a Prince Concert. And he asked me to come up on the stage and dance with him. And I told him no. Because I didn't have my dancing shoes or my push up bra on.
(And this story is made up too!)
But my Stevie Nicks story is sad, and its real.

Ahhh, if we could go back. Now that I am older I would want my younger self to know: you are beautiful, and have confidence to put yourself out there and go for it. Don't settle.
On the flip side of the missed opportunity, is the waste of time. I wish I hadn't wasted my time with that one!

It's nice to know I'm not the only one out there. I was ready to go 17 years ago, then found out my son was on his way. Miserable ever since, but I do have 2 awesome kids. Oh to be brave and end it long ago, how my life may have had some happiness. Now my joy is reading the chit chat threads and living vicariously through others.2 -

I was working out one day ..
Just killing it ...So pumped ...& some dude came up & said "Yooo that girl is checking u out big time!" I said "Not now ...I'm in a zone!" So I did notice she was looking & figured maybe after I did triceps I would make her day ...But my workout was insane that day & lost track of time ...The dude came back up 2 me & said "Bro are u a moron! That hot girl just left & u didn't say a thing 2 her ...Do u know who that was?" I shrugged my shoulders not knowing & he said "That was Jennifer Aniston u dick!" & stormed off angry & I yelled 2 him "But I was in a zone!!!" (This story was completely made up )1 -

So I was hired to dance with Lady Gaga at the Superbowl last Sunday. I didn't accept the job because, I also had a audition for the Robin Thicke show, for the casino show next week.
