Is there anyone else here who can eat a whole loaf of bread?

I can avoid the chocolate, but yesterday I brought a lovely loaf of seeded high protein bread. I had apprehensions about getting it because I have previously found I can't resist it, ridiculous as it sounds, it's so healthy. This morning, it's all gone! I had no sleep yesterday due to a young child being awake all night. I brought the bread with the best of intentions but I have three slices then want more! The whole thing has gone. In my massive tummy hashtag greed.

I could if I didn't stop myself.
Part of it is that when I buy a fresh loaf of amazing bread, I want to eat it fresh. It loses so much of the appeal when it has been frozen, or when it's dry.3 -
I could easily demolish a loaf, it's only slightly lagging behind oxygen in my daily needs!
I keep it in the freezer, it toasts perfectly from frozen and you can make a sandwich for work from it or just dig out a couple of slices and defrost them as needed.
OK, so it's not got that fresh taste, but it lasts ages and reduces temptation.
Wonderful stuff, bread, and I eat it most days but it is calorie dense so I have to plan it in carefully.10 -

I find that a slice or two a day is enough to satisfy my bread craving. Much more than that, and I wouldn't feel well.
If you know you will overeat something ... don't buy it.
BTW - why is seeded high protein bread "so healthy"?

Frsh bread, some butter, easily.
Standard store bought bread, as toast, easily.

something that works for me with food that I binge on - take the large bag and divide it up into the individual servings - 1/2 slices, then hide the rest - if you only see the 2 slices, you may not binge as much4

Bread was my biggest weakness. I couldn't just have 2 or 3 slices I had to have 6 or 8.1

White well done hot toast with butter and seedless strawberry jam - yes!

Part of this whole process is figuring out how you got to where you are. Yep, bread is a so yummy and it's hard to resist, but it sounds like you had a stressful night with your child. Yes, you ate the whole loaf of bread, but use it as a victory. You are starting to see how, when you are stressed and the food is there, you don't stop until it's gone. So now the big question is, what will you do next time? For me, I had to stop buying foods like that at first. Now, I do buy and freeze it in portions.8

Thanks Julie. You are so right identifying that actually foods I can avoid on an every ay basis or eat in moderation, when I reflect, if I have had no sleep, I will overeat on... such as: Chocolate powder and bread! Bizarre but true.

Jeffrey, Cm_73 and Sam thank you for sharing. My friends all day but it's healthy just have two slices... oh dear.
Mach I'm really learning that about myself, I try to be normal and buy what others by, but I'm very unique on what I overeat on. I don't bineg on ice cream but comfort carbs when I'm exhausted (night shift with child) or boredom at working at home... I have tried and tried again and again but I can't keep large supplies of certain foods in the house.1 -
Having a baby up all night, it is crazy. During our sleep deprived raising babies stage, i certainly had my own scavenging the kitchen nights. Sometimes, just do what you must to survive it and move on the next day. Don't feel guilty, you're a good mommy! Tomorrow is a new day.5

Yes, I could, but I don't...............anymore. but then, I could eat too much of everything I like, that was the problem.
Since 1/1/17 I am learning moderation of all food, and portion control. Hopefully on the way to my weight loss goal and being able to maintain a normal weight.2 -
I"m convinced heaven is just unlimited warm French bread with butter, cheese and wine!19

Oh bread! Yes I guess I can, but I definitely trying to al least choose the whole wheat kind XD, but I get you and you know once in a while we totally deserve a treat.. listen to your cravings1

I listened to the craving, unfortunately it lasted all morning and I succumbed ... over two thousand kcal in one sitting, gulp. oh well onwards and upwards....0 -
oh, loads of it! my personal fave is the Lady Godiva Dark Sea Salt. Have one block, sometimes two, every day!1

I can easily consume a whole pack of Hawaiian Sweet Rolls or a good Sourdough Baguette. Therefore, I don't buy these items. But occasionally my mom does and I have no self control.2

I second the suggestion to freeze the loaf (after slicing it). It's super easy to defrost in the microwave or toast from frozen. It tastes just as good as if it were fresh. It also makes it a little more challenging to grab a slice and it keeps it off the counter and out of sight.1

Cinnamon Raisin bread . . . yup. Fresh baked bread . . . yup. Dutch Sugar bread . . . yup. Other breads, not so much.0 -
I agree with the previous poster who said you are a good Mom! It is pure torture to be up all night. I feel for you and I understand. My son didn't sleep through the night for over 2.5 years...I, too, got caught up in late night eating. It went until a few months after he started really sleeping through the night that I could really get the head space to do what I needed to do diet wise. Hang in there and stay positive!3

Never tried..I usually add avocado or peanut butter to bread so I couldn't cos I'd be full with a portion.0

I couldn't because I hate the taste of bread and noodles but my daughter is a bread addict. She begs for 4 things every time we shop.. chocolate, pocky, okra, and a loaf of bread from the deli. I have to tell her no because she WILL eat the whole loaf in one sitting.0
