@Machka9 Wow, that's a really impressive ride! I can't even imagine riding up and down such a hugh mountain. Awesome job!
    @Machka9 Amazing, amazing, amazing!!

That descent probably would have terrified me.

    Thanks for sharing.

    Thanks! :)

One of the reasons I started with MFP was to lose weight so I could climb hills. I'm a flatlander who moved to a very hilly area and all of a sudden my cycling just dropped off because I couldn't get up the hills.

This was my second time up Mt Wellington ... my first was last year ... and it feels great that I have lost the weight and am able to climb! :):)

Are you riding indoors then? Do you have any videos or anything to follow?

Motivation is lacking for me as well largely because of the weather. Cold, dark, and wet instead of cold and snowy does it to me every time we have winters like the one we are having. Give me snow and I get outside and do things like snowshoeing or skiing. When it is wet and dark with just slush and ice, all I want to do is curl up on a comfy chair and read or watch videos.

    Mon 13 - 23.73 miles
    Tue 14 - 26.33 miles: MTD 226.14 / 250, YTD 387.76 / 4000

Yesterday was horrible - really strong headwind in the morning, mixed with really unpredictable crosswind on the way home. Today wasn't bad at all - cold in the morning, but the evening was quite pleasant in comparison to the last couple of days.

I think my goal for February is 500 minutes, 150 miles on the trainer.

February 7th cycled on trainer for 20 minutes and 5.8 miles. Total 30 minutes 470 to go, and 8.6 miles 141.4 to go.
February 8th cycled on trainer for 22 minutes and 5.9 miles. Total 52 minutes 448 to go, and 14.5 miles 135.5 to go.
February 9th cycled on trainer for 30 minutes and 8.0 miles. Total 82 minutes 418 to go, and 22.5 miles 127.5 to go.
February 14th cycled on trainer for 31 minutes and 8.0 miles. Total 113 minutes 387 to go, and 30.5 miles 119.5 to go.

Very frustrated tonight. Cadence/speed sensor stopped working for no reason. Changed the battery. Nothing. Nada. Zip.

    Ugh!

Had planned on riding 40 miles tonight.

Is it to late to join? I would love to.

It's never too late to join! You can either make a commitment for the whole month, and figure out what you've done already, *or* you can just commit to doing some amount for the rest of the month and forget the first half entirely :)

You also have options on how to specify your commitment: You can go for time, or distance, or a combination. Me, for instance, I'm going with distance. I've got an indoor trainer with a speed sensor, which means I can track distance traveled indoors while enduring winter. Which method you choose is entirely up to you.

Just tell us how you're doing (I still need to log my miles for Feb so far myself), and we'll help you keep on track!

I'm in.... Goal 200 again. Fell a little short last month.. Never know what the winter weather will be like.

    2/1 - 20.58 miles 37*F
    2/2 - 12.65 miles 25*F winds NNW @ 10 feels like 9 accordingly to weather bug lol.

    2/7 - 5.49 miles 52*F so windy 20 mph gust to 30+
    2/9 - 8.38 miles 13*F winds 11 mph feels like 6*
    2/10 - 14.95 miles
    2/11 - 30.67 miles
    2/14 - 10.53 miles

    MTD - 121.46

This happened to me. Make sure the sensor on your crank arm is still in alignment with the sensing unit. Moved it back into place and all was fine.

Only another cautious half-hour this week. Lower back problems still continuing, but getting less intense. Maybe and hopefully this next week will be my “breakout week”(?).

Thanks for the advice @tcaley4 . We checked that this morning and it didn't work. Turns out that I was right that it needed a new battery, but... then the sensor needed to be "reset". And on some models there is no reset button......

FYI to all of you....what we needed to do was put the battery in backwards or the wrong way. (It was one of those little circle/disc batteries.) Anyway, you put it in the wrong way and close the compartment for 10 seconds. This resets the sensor. Then you put the battery in the correct way, put the sensor back making sure it is set the way that was described above, and you're set.

My husband will be returning the new sensor he bought tonight :D . He was a sweetie for picking it up for me. It was the guy at the bike shop that mentioned the reset issue to him. My husband checked the website for the device and there it was - instructions on how to reset it using this "battery method".

Got 30 miles in tonight! [Doing the happy dance.]

Oh definitely. I tend to bike to work but our bike paths/lanes are the last to be cleared of snow and more often than not, filled with snow from the clearing of the main road. Today seemed like a better day, a few ice patches which got my nervous but I rode in.
