Does anyone use a weight trend app? What are the benefits to using it?

I use https://trendweight.com/
You can sync to your Fitbit if you have one, which is perfect for me.
The benefit is definitely "getting rid of" fluctuations. When you look at the weekly or monthly trend you can let go of those 2-5lbs that go up and down and see more accurately whether you're losing weight over all. To me, that's all that matters.1 -
I've just started using one as well but I'm not sure how long (how many entries) it takes before you get a reliable trend. Does anyone know ?0

Depends on the settings. Libra comes with a default of 7 days but you can change it.
I don't always see eye to eye with Libra and would prefer something with a smoother trend line that doesn't flap up and down so much, but I definitely find it better than not having a trend line at all - I have a much better impression of the trend and get much less distressed about temporary blips.0 -
I just started using Happy Scale but have only had it for about a week so I can't say much yet. I have been weighing myself every day since I started using it and my weight is different every single morning so I definitely fluctuate a lot. I like data so it's kinda fun and I am hoping it helps me to understand my weight fluctuations so I don't freak out so much over what the scale says1

I've recently started using Libra (android), and really like it. It's free too0

I use Libra and trendweight.com,
Honestly I preferred happy scale but that is only available on apple at the moment. The trend is useful to me, takes the stress out of fluctuations. Also when comparing the trend to my diary I can see what works better for me.0 -
I use Happy Scale. Since I can't seem to stay off of the scale every day, having a trending app is a must. I still get to celebrate my lows, but I don't panic when the scale appears to be going in the wrong direction. Also, tracking daily is letting me see what my patterns and fluctuations are as it pertains to my cycle.0

I just use Google Fit, which slaps a trendline over weight data and also works as my pedometer. It's not terribly precise, but after 6 weeks, it's really clear there's a fairly constant downward slope to my average.0

I use Happy Scale, it gives a pretty smooth trend line and whilst it's not perfect I quite like it.1

MFP itself has graphs under the progress tab and you can change the date range to see the overall trend.2

I use Happy Scale and so far I like it.0

Ultimately, the benefits are that you have a log of your weight and you are more motivated to see that you're losing weight. Many people get discouraged because they don't think they're losing weight but they are. They just can't see it.
I have figured out that I cannot really maintain a weight loss trend unless I weigh myself every day. Somedays I'm up; other days I'm down. On the days when I'm up, I get a little disheartened, but at the same time I get more motivated. On the days that I'm down, I am even more motivated to continue the trend.
I'm no trying to lose weight quickly (too old for that...it just doesn't work for me anymore!) I'm working on losing 1/2 a pound a week. If I weigh once a week, I never know whether the weight on the scale is an upward tend or downward. So weighing every day works well for me.
I have been keeping my own spreadsheet of my weight and 'trending' since the beginning of the year. I track CICO from My Fitness Pal and Fitbit, and log my 'projected weight' based on that and my 'actual weight' based on the scale. So far, it tracks fairly accurately, but there are days when water-weight or some other factor(s) mean that my actual weight differs from projected - either up or down. But the process has helped me maintain focus and motivation.
Just signed up for TrendWeight. Looks like an interesting app.0 -
I use Happy Scale and have for about two months now.
It's not so much seeing the trend I like, but I am able to get a more accurate picture of my weight instead of just weighing myself once a week or once a month.0 -
Another question on Libra. Does anyone have any experience with whether it's forecasting is fairly accurate? It has started showing that I will meet my goal by July (which would be awesome!) But I see that the forecasting line is pretty straight with no leveling off near the last few pounds, but I know everyone says the last 10 pounds take a long time. So I'm wondering if anyone has seen the forecasting be accurate? (Presuming of course that you keep at the same % deficit and activity etc)0

I use Trendweight.
The only issue i have with it is that if i weigh exactly the same this morning as i did yesterday and enter that same number into fitbit, trendweight won't register today's weigh in and will mark today as an "estimated reading".
Does anyone know if there is a way around this?0 -
Ah ok. I wasn't sure if they had some fancy algorithms that factor in typical plateaus /slow downs. It's essentially just a basic calculation off of your current weight loss speed right? Good to know. Thanks for the insight !0

It's just a running average like they use for financial trends. I find the forecast is not that good, it gets distracted by day to day fluctuations. It may work better for someone who does not have such big fluctuations all the time but for me the forecast changes a lot from one day to the next.0
