I started over 250lbs and according to EVERYPLACE I have looked, my Ideal weight should be between 136-183 (taking into account body type). I am currently at 217 and since I have started lifting weights and doing cardio my weight loss has slowed drastically. I have lost 4 1/2" off chest and waist, which is good but what about the magic weight number? I know muscle weighed more which is why my goal was at the higher end of the scale and not the lower. I would look absolutely emmaciated at 145. So how important IS being between 136-183?

Honestly, a better number to shoot for would be your body fat percentage. If you are at 217 but have a healthy body fat percentage then you're good.0

this is exactly why im not touching a weight till I get under 200lbs then when I gain muscle mass and weight I wont care much0

Do way more cardio then weights, cardio everyday weights every other day and watch what you are eating.0

You don't want weight to come off too quickly. 2 lbs max per week. Lifting weights and cardio is the best thing for you and a lot of it has to do with what you are eating and how much deficit you are creating.
Muscle burns fat so lifting weights is best. When it comes to fat vs. muscle....muscle is more dense....it doesn't weigh more.0 -
I just had my physical and my Doc reminded me where I should be on the scale, I then reminded her that the BMI was established in the mid-1800's...surely the human body, diet, etc...has evolved since then??0

Ignore all that crap and see your doctor.
My ideal weight is supposed to be between 135 -175. My doctor said with my weight lifting, etc that my target goal of 185-190 is entirely realistic.
Honestly I dont get where these ranges come from sometimes.0 -
CoCoMa...may I remind you I am male and as any woman will tell you we have not evolved at all..lol
Swordsmith, I agree completely.
I do Cardio everyday except Sunday. I lift weights everyday, but each muscle group actually every other day. M-T-W Arms/Legs and T-T-S Chest Shoulders and Back. ABS M-W-F0
