MARCH- 10,000 STEPS A DAY!
I'm challenging you to take 10,000+ steps every single day of the entire month of March. I don't care if you walk, jog, or run just get those steps in. You can do it!
If you want to create a ticker to help keep track of your step progress you can go to www.tickerfactory.com and create one. Copy the code and you can paste it in here.
You've got this!! I am right here with you all. Let's do this!!! Who's with me?

I'm in! Thanks for this reminder of how beneficial walking is! I recently hit another obstacle and had to stop anything strenuous and high impact, so no weights or running. So far recumbent biking hasn't been good for it either. So I have spent the week feeling frustrated, yet trying to remind myself that I lost my first 40 pounds just by eating better and walking 30 mins most days. So many benefits to "just" walking!10

I am so happy to have you join the challenge.2

I was planning on doing a similar personal challenge for March, so I'd like to join in! The more the merrier, right?
However, I don't count my daily steps. Outside of exercise I live a sedentary life with a sedentary job so I will be count my fitness miles.
I'm planning to get in 5 miles a day doing a mix of the following:
- Outdoor walks/jogs whenever I can depending on the weather.
- Using my mini-stair stepper. Going 15 minutes at a steady pace gives me 1 mile.
- Walking dvd's (Leslie Sansone, Jessica Smith etc.)
Thank you for starting this challenge. Walking was my main form of exercise when I lost 80 pounds and it helps me to easily maintain my weight.
Have a great day ladies!

Welcome to the 10,000 steps challenge.
Just a few more days until the challenge. I am so ready for this!!
Happy to have more join in.1 -
I'm with you! I've been a member of myfitnesspal for several years and this is the first challenge I've ever done. I am half a pound from my all-time high and it's scared me into doing something about it. NOW! I'm on medication that makes weight gain easy and weight loss very difficult, but I've got to do something. Fitbit is my friend!

Yes, we will be tracking how many steps a day we take during the month of March.... the goal obviously being 10,000 steps or more.
Do you have any type of fitness band that tracks steps taken? If you do not have anything that tracks your steps don't worry. Just aim to walk 30 mins or more a day and you will be good. Just getting out there walking every day will do wonders. Good luck!0 -
I usually do 10,000 every work day. The challenge will be the weekends. I'm in! If I can figure out this ticker thing...1

Count me in! This also is my first challenge and what I need to get myself going again.2

Ok, so for those who do not have a fitness tracker you can still do this challenge. As far as tracking goes 10,000 steps roughly comes out to about 5 miles. I'd suggest buying a pedometer, they are not very expensive and it would be a good way to track your steps. There are also apps you can get for your phone to help track your steps and progress. I am not sure how accurate those are since I do not use them.
Here's a pedometer that is under 10 bucks.
Sportline Digital Distance Tracker Pedometer, Black

Also, you can walk at home as well. Check out Leslie Sansone on youtube. She even has a 4 mile walk. I like to do her 3 mile walks when the weather is bad, or it's too dark for me to go walk.
As far as checking back on here.... that is up to you. You are more than welcome to keep posting your tickers and check in. I'd love to see your progress. If you guys have any other questions please feel free to ask.
I am ready for Wednesday!!!! Are you? I walking! 10,000 steps a day?... OH YES WE CAN!!!

This is just what I need! I'm in for the March steps challenge!1

I have an old fitbit. First model. On the third band. It's still ticking, but I have to charge it pretty frequently. Having had it for awhile I've gotten to where I'm able to guess my steps very accurately without it. For those without a measuring device, I would suggest this... time the number of steps you take in a minute. Average person walking normally does about 100 steps a minute. 10,000 steps is 100 minutes or an hour and 10 minutes. Yours may be a little more or less depending on your stride and speed. I'm exactly average. If I walk 20 minutes I'm within 50 steps of 2,000 almost everytime. The tricky part would be figuring how many steps you walk during the course of the day just doing what you do. On days when I mow the yard, I'll get 10,000 steps in before I'm done. Other days I work at the computer all day and barely hit 2,000. Hope this helps!1
