Yesterday before work i weighed myself as i usually do on Mondays. Well yesterday i drank over 2 gallons of water because i was so thirsty and I stepped on the scale after my workout and i gained 6 pounds! Mind you at first i had a tear in my eye because it feels like such a fall back . How do i get rid of the excess? Should I drink more water? Or should I not drink much water to flush it out... ughh so frustrated.

Might take longer than that. I gained 5 lbs one day a week or two ago and it took ~ 4 days to go away.

    It's just life.

My weight fluctuates around 5 lbs throughout the day. This is normal.

Keep drinking water - don't force it, but stay hydrated so that your urine is clear to light yellow. This will pass in ~5 days.

You are within natural body weight fluctuations. Weight loss/fat loss is how you trend over time. And as a women, you have it worse. I hold two lbs from lifting and another 1-4 lbs from whatever I eat/how much is in my GI system.

I have been weighing myself after workouts to calculate how much water i'm loosing(sweating). I usually drink a gallon a day but yesterday i was thirsty all day for some reason. I guess i'm just frustrated because it took so long to get to 166 and now im back to 170.... just because of water..

Weigh yourself in the morning. Also, if you are dehydrated, drink electrolytes or each foods high in sodium/potassium/magnesium.

no I eat the same things every day. Just different varieties. I guess I'll just see how the following days go with loosing the weight. Hopefully I'll be back to or less than what I've worked so hard for.

Is this a joke? Two gallons of water what do you think you would weigh?

It's just water. Dont worry about it. Once you've peed it all off, remember to weigh first thing in the morning before eating and drinking next time. I used to be so obsessed with water weight that I took laxatives to get rid of it. I know it's not worthy of all that stress now.

Too much water is not good for you.

I wouldn't recommend weighing yourself more than once a day. It will drive you insane.

Water has weight. So of course after you drink 2 gallons of water after your workout, you're going to weigh more than normal. That weight gain does not equate to fat gain at all.

Hell if you cut a leg off you would lose a significant amount of weight when you weigh yourself again, but that's not the kind of weight you want to lose right?

Weigh first thing in the morning after hitting the john and naked. That is how much you weigh. Weighing in the middle o the day and after chugging a crap ton o water and having eaten all through the day is NOT accurate.

I will add, 2 gallons of water in a day is excessive. If you are THAT thirsty you should go see a doctor. Excessive thirst can be a symptom of a disease.

My weight shoots up after only 2 cups of coffee in the morning, which is why i always weigh myself first thing in the morning BEFORE eating or drinking anything. Never, ever later in the day as that weight would be totally inaccurate.

Keep in mind to gain a pound of fat you have to eat an additional 3500 calories, so unless you at 21,000+ calories over your daily limit it is just normal weight fluctuations. You're weight will fluctuate day to day, don't put to much emphasis on your daily weight.
