Yesterday before work i weighed myself as i usually do on Mondays. Well yesterday i drank over 2 gallons of water because i was so thirsty and I stepped on the scale after my workout and i gained 6 pounds! Mind you at first i had a tear in my eye because it feels like such a fall back . How do i get rid of the excess? Should I drink more water? Or should I not drink much water to flush it out... ughh so frustrated.

You drank two gallons of water, what do you think that weighs?20

When you weighed later, you had more in your stomach, especially with all the water you drank. Your weight fluctuates up and down throughout the day. This is why it's best to stick with weighing at the same time of day every single time.8

Really? Food and drinks have weight. I can "gain" 8 pounds in one day from eating. It's gone by the next morning. This is why it is recommended for people to weigh themselves first thing in the morning after using the bathroom.11

*Anything* that you consumed after your morning weigh-in (including liquids) will add the weight of those items to your overall weight on the scale. Has nothing to do with fat gain.
If you ate a pound of gummy bears, guess what? Your weight would immediately go up by a pound if you stepped on the scale after eating them.5 -
What did you weigh first thing this morning?0

Might take longer than that. I gained 5 lbs one day a week or two ago and it took ~ 4 days to go away.
It's just life.4 -
My weight fluctuates around 5 lbs throughout the day. This is normal.
Keep drinking water - don't force it, but stay hydrated so that your urine is clear to light yellow. This will pass in ~5 days.2 -
Ugh...you drank 2 gallons of water. What do you expect?5

You are within natural body weight fluctuations. Weight loss/fat loss is how you trend over time. And as a women, you have it worse. I hold two lbs from lifting and another 1-4 lbs from whatever I eat/how much is in my GI system.3 -

Why do you weigh yourself after a workout? Get up in the morning, disrobe, use the potty, and weigh. That's the only time you need to weigh.9 -
Why are you weighing yourself more than once a day?9

I have been weighing myself after workouts to calculate how much water i'm loosing(sweating). I usually drink a gallon a day but yesterday i was thirsty all day for some reason. I guess i'm just frustrated because it took so long to get to 166 and now im back to 170.... just because of water..0

Considering a gallon of water weighs 8 pounds did you not think you would gain something drinking more water than you normally do?5

It doesn't matter how much water you are losing. It's WATER. Weigh in the morning, and stop obsessing with water weight. You are just making yourself more frustrated.13 -
Weigh yourself in the morning. Also, if you are dehydrated, drink electrolytes or each foods high in sodium/potassium/magnesium.2

Beats the heck outta being back at 170 because of fat, though.
This weight gain is temporary and has nothing to do with fat gain. Unless, of course, you've also been overeating.6 -
no I eat the same things every day. Just different varieties. I guess I'll just see how the following days go with loosing the weight. Hopefully I'll be back to or less than what I've worked so hard for.0

Yes... *just because of water*! Water isn't body fat and water weight fluctuations have absolutely 0 to do with your progress.
Please OP- weigh once a day and only draw conclusions about your progress over a matter of weeks, not days or hours. Don't weigh after workouts. Your body actually *retains* water after a workout to help with muscle repair.7 -
Oh my goodness girl. Put the scale away. You are going to make yourself crazy. Weight fluctuates - of course you weigh more later in the day, that's how the body works.11
