@kgirlhart That's an idea, thank you! They're not really really loose yet (just enough to start sliding as I walk) so that might work, and I never tuck in shirts anyway.
I really want to save this pair a bit longer as they go well with the nice smart jacket I snagged at the thrift store a few weeks ago and it looks like a suit! I found a black jacket as well, but the black trousers I have are still slightly too tight for comfort - plus I prefer to wear navy. (Those have a zip and button, though, and I think I have a couple of those extender thingies somewhere... I'll have to look for those and see if that makes them wearable.)3 -
I can run 1km in 9min 30sec...
This for the girl who 2 years ago was obese cat II and couldn't walk more than 5 minutes without needing a break.35 -
I had kind of a weird one today, and it might not seem like a NSV, more a motivator...but I think I'll post it here anyways!
I jumped on the treadmill and started running my 2 miles. I didn't realize it right away but it was in front of a mirror . At first I was wishing I had picked a different treadmill because all I could see was my big ol' turkey thighs. But after awhile I became mesmerized by my feet! The regular rhythm and cadence, and how strong my ankles looked. A little while longer my imagination started...I saw my hips and thighs just melt away, and imagined I was winning a marathon! It got me very excited and motivated me to up the speed to 7.0!
I guess the NSV here is that I am imagining myself succeed instead of seeing only a grey fog in front of me!45 -

Challenged myself big style twice today. Went to my first crossfit class. Not my normal thing, or style of gym but a friends husband is a partner in the gym so encouraged me to give it a go. Way out my comfort zone, including doing the class with a couple of mutual acquaintances who I didn't really want to witness my anxieties, but actually quite enjoyed it (but was really cold!) Really pleased I did some skipping, and bench press (girly weight but still). Second NSV - had a really bad experience at my usual gym yesterday, really wasn't sure if i could go back but today I went in and spoke to the manager,not all resolved but so proud of myself for going back in and dealing with it. A third one is that last night, even though I felt absolutely rubbish about what had happened I didn't have chocolate or wine (given them up for lent but tempted!)24

My cousin gifted me tommy hilffiger capris about 6 years ago and i couldn't even get them over my thighs for the last 6 years. They didn't fir me 6 months ago either but today they were loose on me. Haha30

For the last few days at work I have been fizzing with energy, walking quickly and running up stairs, not because I make myself do it, my body just does it, can't wait to see and feel how much more energy I have when I hit goal!19

I was looking at clothes in the local thrift shop yesterday. One of the ladies working approached me and told me that i should take a look at the plus size area too, because some regular size clothes got mixed in. It was a nice reminder that I am clearly not wearing larger size clothing anymore.
While looking at those clothes, I saw pants i liked and checked the size - 40 waist, which was where I was when I started a year ago. I laughed to myself and said 'never again'. I'll stick to my 32s, thanks24 -

Awesome - please share your secrets! Is there a way to do this by hand? (I don't have a sewing machine.) The only pair of navy blue trousers I have for interviews is now sliding down and I'd love to fix that, but they have an elasticated waist (or just stretchy, I'm not certain)... I'm not sure how to tackle them without wrecking them! I thought about just adding belt loops, but I don't have a nice belt to wear with them anyway so I don't know how to save them...
All I did was work out how much I needed to take the waistband in by and then divide this by two.
I turned the trousers inside out and put one leg inside the other (sounds mad but it makes working on the rear seam a lot easier). Found the rear seam and flattened it out so that the seam was at the edge with the rest of the trousers to one side.
I measured from the edge of the seam the (halved) distance that I wanted to take the waistband in by and pinned it in place (so that you end up with like a loop in the waistband). I then followed the seam down by about eight inches and graduated the new seam (shown in red on my appalling diagram) towards the original one, pinning or tacking it in place.
Then it was a case of just sewing the new seam from the top to the bottom and cutting away the excess material. I left a bit more of the waistband material as I then flattened it out on either side of the new seam and stitched it into place, to make wearing the trousers more comfortable.
Does that make sense? You could probably do it by hand but I used a machine as it was already out (from making superhero costumes for my toddler) and my hand stitching isn't the best There are also a few videos etc on You Tube, this is one I found (a bit tedious but it does pretty much as I did but without cutting/using a machine):

You could also just sew a strip of elastic along the back of the waistband so that took up the slack. I didn't want an excuse to "grow into" the trousers again
I don't think that my method would work if you were taking in a large amount; mine was only one size (from a UK12 to a UK10) but I am not convinced that it would be a decent alteration for more than that. If I was to go anymore than one size then I'd probably take the garment apart and remake it.And I hope you do get to go out for a ride today - I think we all know by now how much you enjoy it!!

But the good news is that DH did deal with dinner so I got to go out on the bike.
It was absolutely wonderful and allowed me to forget things that are bothering me, like the side effects of a drug I'm taking (the worst one at the moment is my hair falling out and I don't know if anything can be done to prevent this, I need to ring my consultant). I felt so much better after getting back, it's amazing what a bit of time on a bike in the countryside can do for your mood. I also cycled faster today as my 20-mile run took eight minutes less than usual. And I went up parts of the Hills from Hell in a higher gear than normal. I am very, very happy (and may get to have ice-cream later)

Spring Cleaning and I've donated 5 big bags of clothes from my closet and 4 small bags from my dresser, and my wardrobe tripled! I ended up with a bunch of clothes that were back in the depths of my closet that I can now wear again, PLUS I had 2 totes of "too small" clothes under my bed that ended up mostly fitting me. I got rid of a few of them from the totes that were too big and some that were way out of date. I now have 3/4 of a tote back under my bed that will fit in another 5-10 lbs, and have moved so many back into rotation. I forgot how many cute clothes I had hidden away under my bed! I just gained at least $300 worth of clothes!! Now I have to go shopping for undies and more hangers for my slacks. Such an amazing feeling.25

To take in draw string pants: inside the waist band look for a tiny slit that was hand sewn shut. It's probably in the back. Carefully clip it open. Pull a bit of the elastic out until you find where it was sewn or tied together. Clip out about an inch of elastic and pin it together. Put the pants on to see if the waist band is tight or loose. Adjust accordingly. Sew or tie elastic together. Sew tiny slit back shut. You now owe me the $16 taking a pair of pants in would cost you.21

After a rough day yesterday, I came home feeling like I wanted a large drink, followed by another and probably a few more to keep it company. I resisted, as I was hoping to hit a stone of loss this morning, and wanted the good feeling from that more than I wanted the good feeling from half a dozen Jack and Cokes. I'm the sort of person with a drink for every occasion and emotion, so that was a pretty big deal for me.
And a second one - having something that feels worth posting in this thread.61 -
I ran for 3 intervals of 17 minutes each (1 minute break in between). Never thought this would be possible.29

My blood pressure has dropped significantly and this past weekend I went to a 50th birthday dinner and wore a dress I haven't worn in 16 years! It fit better than it did then.35

TWO for me yesterday...
1. I got told by a co-worker that it's becoming very obvious I am losing weight and that I am looking great!
2. I went on my 3rd hash house harriers run, but the first without my friend so I was "alone" with the group for the first time, I ran more than usual and had a GREAT time!27 -

This has been happening to me on my walks as well!!! It's like I just want to go faster and faster and then I end up jogging. Yesterday was my "rest day" and I still went out for a 4 mile walk and had to actually restrain myself and keep telling myself to slow down because my legs actually really did need the rest from my strength training the day before.16 -

I've donated literally hundreds of dollars worth of still in very good shape clothing. But I don't know that I count that as a victory because it includes some stuff I really like, AND I've had to do a lot of shopping to replace it. OTOH, Dillard's had a killer New Years Day sale, and Lands End's clearance section has some bargains too.10 -
I just had my blood pressure taken and it was 116/71 and my pulse was 55 - both NSVs in themselves.... but the chap just smiled and said "that's a sign that you're fit"! Hee-hee35
