The Count of Monte Cristo has been mentioned a few times.
    It made me think.....quite a tale......But, no!

    LOVED the Stand.

But honestly the Stormlight Archive series from Sanderson wins for now (although it's actually two books... for now... but I absolutely love them).

I'll throw in the Lightbringer series from Brent Weeks as well (4 books out out of 5 and they are awesome).

The Way of Kings was my hands down favourite book for a long time, I read it twice back to back as soon as it came out. But didn't you find that the tone of the books changed completely in Words of Radiance? The main characters started sounding like 90s teenagers (they probably are teenagers, but they didn't sound it in the first one at least).

Right now I'm a huge fan of the Malazan Book of the Fallen series by Steven Erikson, Gardens of the Moon in particular.

Oh there are so many but I think the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Harry Potter and the Throne of Glass series are my most favourite. I can read them again and again.
Then the Rock Chick series are books I go and read every time I need a good laugh.

Just about to read throne of glass series:-)

I can't just pick one, way to many but these are books that had made an impression.

The Reason I Jump - Naoki Higashida
The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up - Marie Kondo
Too Good To Leave, Too Bad To Stay ( Probably the most influential and life changing)

I was given too good to leave to bad to stay. Haven't cracked it yet, self help books have never been my thing but I might give it a go now:-)

I read a lot. So does my wife. It's one of the better habits we passed on down to our daughters. I've always got a book within reach. I go through 2 or 3 a week. Below are a couple of standouts from different genres:

Classic -- Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck

Contemporary -- Lightening by Dean Koontz

Non-Fiction -- Helter Skelter by Vincent Bugliosi

OMG I have so many!! Most of them are series. But one of my all time favorites is Before I Go To Sleep. I read this book WAY before the movie came out. Books are always so much better!!

I'm loving this thread! Give me ideas of what to buy on Amazon.

I just read Common Sense by Thomas Paine. Amazing how current a 241 year old pamplet can seem.

Read it with current events in mind...

All The Pretty Horses - Cormac McCarthy

McCarthy is, IMO, one of the lesser known and highly underrated authors of the current era. Again, JMHO.

if you like Cormac McCarthy, and I agree, he's amazing.... read anything of James Carlos Blake's.

historical fiction so hard you'll chip a tooth reading it.

@Motorsheen I just picked up three of his novels off of Amazon on your recommendation. TY.

My favorite was probably The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy series! But I also love to read books about serial killers and missing people/unsolved murders. I'm weird haha
