Hello everyone !
I recently started the 14-day slimfast challenge. So far I am impressed with the good taste of the products and how I am surprisingly satisfied at times. I am known to be a big eater.
I was just wondering if anyone else is practicing this diet and what are your experiences,tips, and status.

What's the plan after 14 days and you have to eat normally again?

Honestly, I don't like meal replacement shakes because they aren't something that is sustainable indefinably. I think it is better to learn what foods to eat and what portions to eat because it is something that will help you long after you have lost weight.6

Can I ask why you are doing it?
I mean the bar has over 200 calories. Around what I ate for breakfast this morning. Yet my breakfast was 2 eggs scrambled with real butter followed by a yoghurt.
Much more filling due to the fat and protein content and more satisfying as I sat down and ate a proper meal.
Weight loss doesn't have to be torture. Eat any foods you like only make them fit your calories.
My diary is open if you want to look. It includes every take away, every binge drinking lasses weekend away, the full kit and kaboodle.8 -
What's the point of doing a diet that teaches you nothing of how to prepare, eat and CONTROL food that you didn't do in the first place?

I have tried SlimFast and had to white knuckle it until the next meal. It left me cranky. I eat regular, everyday food and had no problem losing weight.2

I'd also like to know what your plan is for day 151

Got to echo the comments of those prior to me who are asking why anyone would following a diet that has meal replacement drinks? It doesn't make sense in the long term and not even healthy in the short term. Counting my macros for the first time I am surprised at how I can over eat with sugar, especially since I thought I was someone who managed sugar intake well. I would suggest people learn about foods and the impact they have on their weight and health.0

I did that a few years ago.
Actually managed to stick out the 14 days and lost a nice amount. Felt miserable. On day 15 I binged.
OP, if you want to do this, it's on you. But please start planning how you're going to deal with food once you stop with the slimfast. Because that weight will come back faster than you like and it will bring friends.4 -
OP - you won't get much support here and that's understandable when you think about it. This site is designed for people to measure & log food. Slim Fasts premise is to help you avoid all of that. But measuring & logging helps up LEARN about our eating habits. Slim Fast won't teach you anything (but that does help them with repeat business).
I've done Slim Fast - yet here I am again. I need to practice good eating habits for losing weight AND maintaining it.6 -
The point people are dancing around is that the 14 day slimfast diet, or any _______ diet, is not a long term way of eating, so it really is not helpful as a short term way of eating. Part of the "diet" process should be learning how to eat once the weight has come off and doing these short term things don't teach the essentials of how to eat properly. You would be better served to think about what the slim you would eat, and incorporate that kind of food into your diet now, just at reduced quantities. Far better to do that now than to lose a few pounds over two weeks and gain them back once the 14 days is up. Plus, you'll hate the 14 days far worse than if you ate normal food for those days, just at reduced quantities.

I understand what everyone is saying towards the long run- it is very true. I guess I started the slim fast 14 day as a motivation. There have been soooo many times I start watching what I eat and fall through. So, i guess my thought process was to start with this plan, see good results and get motivated. After feeling excited about losing something for once in my life then i would look into the long term of better eating. I know I will not buy slim fast products for the rest of my life. But i guess im using it as a motivator.1

If it works, then great. We all have to learn what works for us as individuals, just so much diet related is BS and scams that it gets confusing when it really is simple. I've tried slimfast in the past and hated the taste.3

The taste is much better now. i hated the taste in the past too. Like I said, I know this is not a long term thing, but I overwhelm myself sometimes with the long-run that I discourage myself before I start..
So, like i said, I know it wont forever "work" but i think it is building good habits for me: logging (which i havent done consistently before, working out, and sticking to something) After getting this down, I feel like I can be a real dieter that can lose on her own

You don't have to justify your decision. I'm kind of embarrassed by the lack of support. Once people learn something they become very critical and forget they started somewhere too.
Good for you. Years Back when I lost a bunch of weight after babies (55 lbs), I started out using the slim fast diet as well. It worked great for me! I can't remember now how much I lost in those first couple of weeks but I do remember it was significant enough for me to feel super encouraged and motivated and it was such a good decision I made.
Just because you decide to do this for two weeks doesn't mean you suddenly lose all your brain cells and won't know how to plan meals in the future lol. You can spend these two weeks that you are on the slim fast diet looking at what other people prepare for healthy meals and recipes and stuff. Don't succumb to this idea that on day 15 everything goes to hell. You can transition easily and you will!
I still to this day incorporate meal replacement shakes and bars in to my diet here and there because when you are super busy and on the go it's easy. Maybe not that satisfying but way better to do that then stop at mcdonalds drive thru.
So great job, keep it up! It will be so worth it and this is just the beginning!18 -

Oh and by the way I really like the slim fast advanced nutrition caramel latte drink. I eat pretty healthy every day food now but I like to have that drink as a snack. I blend it up with ice and it's a great afternoon pick me up that tastes like a healthier version of a frappuccino. Yum.1

I remember trying (and succeeding) on Slimfast years back to shed the freshman fifteen, but I tried it again a few years later and lasted about two days. I just had headaches all the time and wanted something to chew... so of course, in went the lovely salty crisps and the lovely sweet chocolate bar...1

Glad to hear a positive side! I appreciate both sides, I know those who are more technical is because they are more serious dieters. I hope to get there in the future. but for now my story is like yours cdkelly, hoping to see great results

as a jumping off point i don't think it's the worst idea in the world, especially if it's got you being more mindful and thinking of a plan once you're done. if you're logging and know your stats and goals it could be an easy transition on day 15. i think a lot of people are just concerned because we see a lot of crash and burn after restrictive eating plans or xxx diets are over or blown by binges etc.
there are only 9 people where i work and at any given moment someone is trying a new diet. a month of paleo for one, a gluten free phase for another, no refined sugar for the one in the corner, and a strict elimination diet by the boss just for funsies. right now one of my coworkers is starting a juicing / smoothie plan. my observation has been that while most think that they are in for a 'lifestyle change' it ends up being more of a fleeting interest. i actually think that, when done with forward thinking, diets with a shorter time span can be more effective.

I used to live on slimfast when I worked before I got sick. I worked so much that I never really had time to make food so I would pop open a can for breakfast...only had 30 minutes for lunch so I would pop open another can. I probably would drink 4 shakes a day and a very very small meal. I was a size 0 back then.
After I gained all my weight, I tried doing slimfast so many times, but I was so hungry all the time. It just wasn't going to work at this point in my life.
But if it does help to motivate you, and you do lose some weight, then great. Just make sure that when you are ready to go off slimfast you are ready to start logging everything you eat so you don't gain back what you lost. I'm for anything that will jump-start the motivation that will keep you going.

I used to love the taste of them but I tend to revert back to old habits so I just try to be a bit more disciplined with my food choices. What works for some doesn't work for all, unfortunately. #fatgirlpreach #lovemyfood #junkfoodjunkie4life #aworkinprogress1

cekelly, you said exactly what I was thinking. This is my first post, and I felt compelled after reading discussions that sounded critical/negative.
I used SlimFast years ago and lost the 10 pounds I wanted to lose, rather quickly. For me it put a hard stop to the everyday mindless overeating I was doing. I transitioned back to regular food by gradually cutting down the drinks and incorporating one healthy meal at a time. Good luck with your 14 day challenge love_jones21!2 -
Guys , just a quick update !
Everything has been going well thankfully! I am approaching finishing day 5. I feel determined and and consistent. I been running in the mornings (or late nights) and drinking tons of water.
I know this is not all due to slimFast but the encouragement of the idea of their plan. The products are filling. I did add a Fit&Active meal replacement bar instead of a shake everyday for lunch. I also eat green giant veggies on the side with my bar for lunch.
Feeling good and hoping to have nice results even if small .
