I left this morning & completely forgot my healthy lunch that I prepared. I work in a small town where most restaurants are fast food. We do have a subway & Jimmy John's (love the unwhich's there) but I get burnt out on these two places.

What are your solutions when you don't have fresh foods available?? And it's raining!! So upset I left it at home lol

I'm sure you can find something in a fast food joint that doesn't blow your numbers. What do you have nearby?

A friend of mine is obsessed with chick-fil-a, and there's one in my building, so if she and I eat lunch together, that's where she always wants to go. The CFA grilled chicken (they come in strips and nuggets, I think) is really tasty, and I get a fruit cup instead of fries.

I also really like the apple walnut chicken salad at Wendy's.

It's obvious and boring, but a grilled chicken sandwich is my go-to at just about any fast food joint. Hold the mayo. I had two in one day this week due to poor planning on my part and a high school jazz concert after work. :grimace: :

Wendy's has a pretty good grilled chicken with honey mustard and mixed greens on it.

Great idea! I'll try a grilled chicken with no bun. Don't know why I didn't think about that

I go to the grocery store and get a rotisserie chicken thigh and drumstick, some cherry tomatoes, and a piece of fruit.

I hit a grocery store and buy veggies and hummus, maybe a rotisserie chicken piece and tear off the skin before eating.

For me, I hit Wendy's for chili and a baked potato or one of their salads. Or I hit the grocery store salad bar or sushi. We also have a restaurant near by that has a really good salmon sandwich. I order it without the bun and get broccoli instead of fries. Another option is Chipotle, but you have to make sure to tell them to give you proper portions of rice and beans and I always avoid the sour cream there because that spoonful that they slap on there is like half a cup!

To be honest? I usually just get a coffee with some stevia and a dribble of whole milk or cream in it and keep on working. My blood sugar stays pretty stable, so I can go long periods of time without eating with no problems.

In your case, I'd recommend just going on the websites of the restaurants that you have nearby and looking up an option that fits your macros nicely. Chef salads heavy on the veggies and light on the dressing usually suffice.

I would do nothing except drink some water and draw comfort from the fact that at least my lunch for tomorrow was already ready.

My poor students. I'd be ripping heads off by the end of the day.

If I forget my lunch I usually look through the websites of local fast food and pick up something that fits my goals.

Soup is usually a good bet, too. Many places have a soup on the menu.

I work downtown so I don't have access to the grocery store, but we do have a Subway. That's my go-to place when I forget my lunch. I have a turkey sub on whole wheat, no cheese, loaded up with spinach, tomatos, peppers etc. Sometimes I'll have some Baked Lays, but honestly they taste horrible so it's not worth the calories.

If I'm in a town without a lot of options I go to the grocery store. Usually fruit and cheese, maybe some greens. Sometimes plain yogurt.

Fruit and cheese is pretty easy to find these days, even at gas stations. It might be a little light, but you can eat a heavier meal when you get home.

Honestly, I'd go without. I keep a few snacks at work, though

In my desk at work I keep a few items just in case.
A few cans of Progresso light soup, very filling and about 140 calories for the entire can
Light microwave popcorn also quick and filling.

IF your office doesn't have a microwave go for peanut butter and crackers, granola bar. I also really like
Dry cereal right from the box as a snack. 2/3 cup about 100 cals.

    Lots of choices,

I keep a drawer full of food at work.

    I've got:
-- single serves of Sunrice brown rice
-- tins of chicken in springwater
    -- LaZuppa soup bowls
    -- tuna and cracker snacks
    -- cheese and cracker snacks
    -- a selection of fruit
-- a bag of the lowest calorie oriental noodles I could find
-- a couple single serve MugShots

and a few other bits and pieces which I might need to check the expiry dates on now that I'm thinking about it.

    I bring:
-- single serve of frozen veggies
    -- single serve yogurt

But if I happen to forget those two things, and it has happened, I can put something together from the collection in my drawer. :)

When I have to change my planned meal I try to find something with around the same calories.
I know meals at local restaurants that fit my lunch goal okay.
A regular burger, side salad with vinaigrette dressing and an unsweetened iced tea is something I might order.

    Grocery store options-
    yogurt
    fruit
    vegetables
    tuna
    salads
    cheese
    frozen meals
