@gemwolf110 - glad to hear you had such a good break. Hope going back to work isn't too bad and that they can speed up the start date a bit for the new role.

Shy - liking the new look. I got mine cut a couple of weeks ago and I love the different feel that I get from it - and how much easier/quicker it is to wash and dry! Great picture of Bentley :)

Rachel - good to hear that Lobby Day was good and that you are feeling reenergised. Now if you could just send some of that feeling my way!!

@Evamutt - glad you are feeling better.

    @isotoner - welcome back!

Jen - hello fellow Gryfinndor student!! Glad to see you on the challenge - it looks like fun and I'm hoping that it will start to kick start me back into gear. How is the rest of the week treating you? Have you signed up for the competition at the gym?

Rest of the week has gone better here for me and I'm very glad that it's Friday! Got a slightly odd weekend coming up as my husband will be working for much of Sunday so it's feeling a little short! Going swimming with Alistair tomorrow and then (weather permitting) go out on Sunday with a friend and her little boy (who is good friends with Alistair). Not sure what the plan is but I think likely go to one of the local gardens that are open to the public - let the boys rampage about and then stop in the café for a cup of tea and maybe a small slice of cake!! I've joined up to the next Harry Potter challenge on here which I'm hoping will sort me out - if only I could make up a spell, wave my wand and be the perfect size and weight  . Have a good weekend all.

@kal900 I'm glad bumping up your calories is working out for you, it made a huge difference for me too!

@ShyCush6 Love the new haircut, you look great! Bentley is so cute, what a smile! I hope you have a fabulous girls weekend!

@gemwolf110 Glad you had a wonderful vacation! I'm counting down until the weather is nice too :) I'm crossing fingers for you on the expedited job start

@janetay01 If you learn that spell please share ;) Your weekend plans sound wonderful! I have the same thing this weekend where my SO has to work on Saturday and you're right, it definitely makes the weekend feel shorter.

I had a fabulous derby practice last night, I even got complimented on my technique when I was the jammer (person who scores the points)! Tonight I'm going over to one of my derby friend's house to celebrate her birthday with the team. I'm expecting pizza and alcohol so I already pre-tracked :) I'm hoping to fit in a workout or long puppy walk after work to burn some energy today. Now I just need to make it through work today ;) Happy almost weekend everyone!

@kasey39 mountain biking sounds like a fun way to get a bunch of exercise in. I live less than an hour from the mountains. Have lived here my whole life and never been mountain biking. I can just see myself flying head over the handle bars.

    @isotoner great job!

@shycush6 Lets see a pic, I bet it is beautiful. I want to start a garden, but have no clue how, and I am pretty sure the dogs would eat it. Great weekend plan! I love scotcheroos. Oh my gosh you are so beautiful! Bentley is too cute as well.

@evamutt glad you are feeling better. Hope things go well for your husband.

@rachel0778 No goals made Wednesday or Thursday, I really need to get my act together. Sounds like a fantastic day, and glad your slump was short lived. I am hoping mine is too.

@kal900 sounds like a great start. Having periods again would be miserable, but you can deal with it. Sounds like you have a great attitude.

@gemwolf110 Glad you had a great vacation. I would love to do cycling (I think) they only offer the class while I am at work. 

@janetay01 I am excited for the challenge too. It looks like fun, I love the mini challenges that are going on. I am hoping it will get me motivated again. I hate short weekends.

@rachel0778 Great Job! Sounds like a fun night tonight. It is nice to see you motivated again. I love hearing how exciting everything you do is. And the meme is great.

I have not done well this week on the food front. However, I haven’t thrown in the towel yet. I am bound and determined to get going again. Yesterday, was supposed to be roller skating with the BF, but he worked really late, didn’t get home until after the session started. So no roller skating. ( I ate like I was going to go skating. ) Did hit the gym for 40 minutes on the treadmill. So good for me there.

I joined the competition at the gym. I found out it is with 2 other clubs as well. Kind of bummed about that, and they are doing body fat % lost instead of weight loss % so people who are working on bulking can participate as well. There are a few more prizes then I thought so that is cool, and they are doing a weekend warrior challenge each weekend. That might be fun to do.
I hope everyone has a great weekend! We can do this!

I'm actually so happy this morning. I got on the scale to see I've lost 15lb so far. I still have a long way to go, but hey, that's a start now. I need to lose another 20 to have hernia surgery.

I've been walking around my property (17 acres of wilderness) and up by this nearby pond. It's full of fish, and my little dog, Skittles, seems to be curious about the fish. He tried to get in the water yesterday. Now, he's never been swimming or around a lot of water. It seems he has no idea how to swim. He gets in the water until it's up to his chest, which isn't high since he's part dachshund, and then he takes his paw and tries to dig and push the water away. If it splashes him in the face, he bites the water. LOL. I'm taking my camera next time.

Morning, ladies! (And gents, if you're still hanging around...Brian (dog Bruce Wayne's dad) and...don't remember now, there was another one a month or two ago...why don't the guys stick around?)

I'm not going to post to anyone specifically 'cuz there's just too much. Everyone has been so busy and everything! So motivating... Loved the memes the past couple weeks! Welcome all you new ladies!

So, I'm doing PT for my foot and it seems much improved. I've still got a bit of a limp but when I ride the stationary bike, it nearly disappears. I'm not quite brave enough yet to ride a real bike. In addition to around the house/office walking, I'm doing laps at an indoor track (1/8 of a mile; 4-8 laps). Trying to get in 20 minutes on the bike once a day or so.

April-June is a crazy time at work and next Monday will kick it off...and I found out yesterday I messed something up royally the day before. I create modules and frequently copy one to use as a template. I copied the wrong one and then deleted about 80% of the real one...soooo bad. And so much work to rebuild. And that on top of ordinarily scheduled insanity, a stupid vendor research project and...well, life. So not looking forward to the next three months, work wise. Vacation in June is always a big plus. People ask why they 'let' me take vacation in the middle of the worst month of the year for us, since I am mission-critical...my response is that they 'let' me to prevent homicide. By the time my vacation rolls around, I'm about half crazy (or half crazier than normal), so vacation is a really important piece of sanity. Sturgeon Bay, here we come!

Headed to friends' today to play Oregon Trail with a 6 year old and the new Dresden card game (based on Dresden Files by Jim Butcher...no, I don't expect anyone to recognize it...though, really good series--wizards + detective noir).

Dumped some beef stew in the crockpot this morning...we'll keep most of it but will drop some off for the in-laws. We try to drop off a home cooked meal once a month (they tend to exist on pizza and hamburgers). I'd be happy to increase what I cook and share more than that but when the offer was made, they didn't seem interested. I don't get it, home-cooked, delicious, healthy food vs. bad pizza and hamburgers...that's a pretty obvious choice, to me but whatever. They got corned beef and cabbage last month after our wine tour and (turkey) ham and bean soup a month or so before that. I think I did another stew a couple months ago as well. May and June will be Mother's/Father's Day breakfasts (yes, I'm clinically compulsive. I plan this crap out months ahead...my dinner planning schedule goes out to May 20 with grocery lists...). Since the weather has gotten chilly again, the stew is super tasty-sounding. The chopping and browning the meat bit is a pain in the butt, but it is SO worth it.

Anyway, enough with the food porn...hope everyone has an awesome weekend!

Hello, Is there room for one more?

I've been active on here, in the past, as well, but I found an app that I liked better. Every other health and/or fitness app that I had synced with it. It also had every conceivable exercise on it. Even stretching and yoga counted. However, it doesn't work on my new phone and the one thing it didn't have was the community, like this one has.

So, I'm back. My goal is 75 - 85 lbs, depending on my happiness with how I feel and look. I want to have more muscle than before I gained weight. After looking at old photos, I realized that I looked too thin. I needed to work up some lean muscle. I felt great physically, I just looked like I needed a cheeseburger.

I've lost weight since the last time I've been on. Perhaps not as much as I'd like to have lost, but any lost weight is good.

My current goal, aside from the long term weight goal, is to force myself to do something active no matter what. Unfortunately, I've had back spasms for two days and the doctor says to try not to be active when that's going on; especially lifting, squatting and bending over. Tomorrow, I'm going to try to get in a stationary bike ride. Here's hoping those back muscles simmer down. I'm ready to shed some lbs and feel healthy again!

Just getting started so feel I have to go cold turkey to jump start and break the negative cycle. No carbonated drinks, fast food, sweets, chocolate or crisps. Have planned holiday for summer and want to succeed!

    Would welcome some friends

That sounds...miserable. Cold turkey is for the birds! When I joined here, I decided I wasn't dieting, as dieting fails me...I can have whatever I want, as long as I keep it w/in my calorie limits. Even, gasp!, girl scout cookies. I have 7-8 boxes hidden around the house (my hubs is on here, so he doesn't get hints). So...I pay attention, I log and I do assessments of whether whatever snack I want is "worth" it. Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't. Sometimes I walk a little extra so I can splurge a little (but I try not to eat back all my exercise calories...some people eat back half or none).

But do what works for you. I've lost 50 lbs since Aug. 40 to go. Weigh less now than I've weighed in...more than 10 years? Clothes that didn't fit 5 years ago are options again!

    You can do it!

Hope everyones having a good week end. We had a really good time with our dtr & her 2 kids. She's due with baby #3 in June. She has had many miscarrages, but much earlier on than she is now & baby's doing well. I always feel so empty for a while after she visits then leaves. We are very close. Changed Junibee's spay to 4/12. Tomorrow my hubs has to be at hospital for proceedure by 7 am. I dread getting up that early (5:45) hope all goes well. This past week I went out to lunch 3 times for various reasons & each time i felt sick to my stomach. We never went out too often in the past anyway but i did enjoy it before. Now all I did was feel sick & burp the rest of the day with grease taste, yuck. Guess my eating habits really have changed.I'm staying home today & cleaning up. Went on 3 dog walks this morning & going again at 5. Hubs & dogs taking nap, so think I'll go to gym & go for swim before walking. It's 80 degrees today! Here's pic of my dtr & family:hx8ze0m1tstl.png

@evamutt - lovely picture! I find it amazing how our bodies adapt to eating better and complain when we revert. Fish and chips used to be my go to when we couldn't be bothered to cook - now on the odd occasion that we do it, I enjoy at the time but they leave me feeling greasy and bloated afterwards - and more often than not drinking water and eating fruit in an attempt to 'clense'!

@DeDoubleU - always room for another one! Hope the back spasms clear up quickly for you.

@melaniedscott - love the sound of the beef stew. You are good to cook for the in-laws like that - but I agree with you, home cooked food would win for me every time. Sorry to hear about the work mess up - hopefully it doesn't take too long for you to sort out.

    @lucypstacy - welcome!

Jen - good luck with the gym competition!

Rachael - congratulations on the derby technique feedback - that must feel so good when you are still fairly new to the sport. Hope the pizza and alcohol was good - well done on the pre-tracking.

I am just so gutted to be sat at my desk this morning - it's been gorgeous weather here all weekend and we had an absolute blast. Swimming and much play in the garden with Alistair on Saturday then Sunday consisted of pancakes with strawberries and chocolate sauce for breakfast, a lovely family walk before lunch - and then whilst my husband was working in the afternoon went to a local garden locally with a friend and her little boy who is just 3 weeks older than Alistair. I challenged the two of them to try to find a Gruffalo (from the Julia Donaldson books for those of you who don't spend every evening reading stories to a 2 year old!!) and they spent two hours running round the entire place looking in every bush and behind every tree. My boy was completely exhausted by the time we got home  . So to say I'm not feeling it today is an understatement! However, 8.5 working days to go to Easter and then 4 days holiday the week of Easter Monday so I just have to keep plodding on. Hope the weekend treated everyone well

@janetay01 Sounds like a fabulous weekend, what a great idea to tire Alistair (and you!) out! I'm having a hard time back at my desk right now too

@Evamutt Beautiful photo of your dtr's family! I hope the procedure goes well! I have a hard time eating greasy food too. Fries (or really any fried food) especially make me feel like garbage. Bodies really do adapt to what you put in them

@jdelaroy Sorry you missed out on skating but you're a rockstar for still fitting in activity on the treadmill. Keep us posted on how the competition is going!

@melaniedscott That's wonderful that you help to cook for your inlaws. I'm sure they really appreciate the homemade food! I'm glad your foot is doing much better. I bet you'll be back on that bike in no time!

Welcome @DeDoubleU, glad to have you as a part of the group!

Great loss @lucypstacy! Skittles sounds hilarious, what a fun adventure for him at the pond.

So I totally derailed on Friday...I ended up having 3 servings of cake (eek!) We just had a Dunkin Doughnuts open up in town so a coworker brought a box for a morning meeting and I had to try one. Then my significant other brought me a cupcake from the new cakery that opened up in town so I had it with dinner. Then I go to my friend's party and her friend made her a 3 layer chocolate stout cake...yeah you can guess where my willpower was on that one.

But I treated Saturday like a new day and got right back on the wagon. I worked out all weekend, shopped for healthy groceries, prepped all my weekly meals, and have my workouts for the week booked. And honestly, all the cake was so delicious I don't even regret it. They were all conscious decisions and I wouldn't classify it as a binge so that's a win!

@lucypstacy 15 pounds is a great start! You can do this

@melaniedscott You are doing so great handling your injury and recovery. I have heard of the Dresden files, but never watched/read them. Your beef stew sounds wonderful. I cook in my crock pot 3-4 times a week. Saturday we did pork chops in cream of mushroom soup. It is so easy. Season pork chops to taste (I like boneless, but either works) Put in crock pot, dump cream of mushroom soup to cover. I do 2 large cans for 9 chops. Cook on low for 8-10 hours. You can do high if you like for less time. Shred pork when done, serve over noodles or rice. Tonight I am doing a pulled pork, tomorrow will be potato soup. Now I am making myself hungry.

@dedoubleu Welcome, there is always room. I hope your back is feeling better and you were able to get some activity in. I love the community and support that is provided through the forums here at MFP. I think one of the reasons I have been so successful.

@evamutt glad you were able to move junibee’s appointment around. You and your husband are in my thoughts and prayers this morning. I hope things go well and are successful.

@janetay01 It sounds like you had a fantastic weekend. I am envious of your pancakes! Keeping 2, 2 year olds busy and entertained is hard work. Good job on that. I am so excited about the Harry Potter challenges. Although I am going to suck on the questions about the book. Heck I don’t even know what our house colors are. I will have to see if I can find the answers on Google. 

I had such a great weekend. Since the challenge has started I have stayed under calories, and gotten in at least 20 minutes of cardio in every day. Saturday, I did a bunch of small challenges for our team challenges, did a partial cardio video (It kicked my *kitten*.) Then walked in the house for almost 45 minutes while watching a movie with BF (This helped avoid a lot of the snacking he did for 2 movies.) Sunday, up to the gym, breakfast with the BF I ordered eggs, hash browns and pancakes. Ended up eating about half of what I ordered. Took the kids roller skating. Fun stuff! My son, 7 went without a roller skating trainer for the whole session. (Like a walker on wheels.) So proud of him.

I am feeling so motivated with this competition. I had a goal to be 193 by April 11. I am 4 pounds over that. I might be able to lose 1-2 more pounds by then. I didn’t think I would reach this goal last week. While I won’t reach it I was close, and realized that I am 3 weeks behind that goal because of my emergency surgery. Had I not had to do that, I would have been right on the money. So I am going to take it as a win!

Well Happy Monday, and good luck with the day!

Rachel - doesn't sound like a binge at all, just a conscious decision to enjoy yourself!

Jen - I'm glad I'm not the only one who had to look up team colours! However, now I'm not sure I have any clothes that match them! My good friend Google was a major help when it came to the questions so I would recommend you head in that direction - there are some incredibly informative fan sites out there :) I did your 5 minute jogging on the spot challenge on Saturday evening whilst the husband played a video game - to say that he thought I was nuts is being kind! The challenge is doing wonders for my motivation right now - I'm hoping it will be the kick up the backside that I need - the team element is good for me as I like gaining points for the team and work harder so as not to let others down.

I fell off the wagon big time yesterday - too many snacks and too few distractions! However I logged it all and I've moved on - today is a new day and I've pre-logged all my meals for the day so I know what I'm dealing with.

Quiet on here this week - hope everyone is doing ok

@rachel0778 Good job getting back to it on Saturday. Some time you just need to have your cake and eat it too!

@janetay01 It is quiet here. Good job hopping back on the wagon. How are you doing on your other challenges? I just PM'd our leader for the Dada questions. I don't have house colors either. I am thinking I am going to get a paper and color it, pin it on. I am so competitive. Which I never knew.

I did pretty good yesterday. We ended up doing a birthday party for my mom, so had cake and ice cream, but I did well. only had tiny portions, and only ate half of the cake. Weigh in today I am down 3 pounds since last Tuesday!

    Back at it today.

@jdelaroy I definitely had ALL the cake lol. I'm so glad your challenge is going well. Keeping it to small servings is a big accomplishment and 3lbs down is amazing! Keep up the great work!

@janetay01 It is really quiet this week, I wonder where everyone is? Welcome back on the wagon. Logging, owning up to it, and moving past a bad day is a huge accomplishment.

Not much new to report here. It's my fur baby's 2 year adoptiversary so I'm going to schedule him a doggy daycare session tomorrow so he can go play with puppy friends. I'm feeling much more energetic this week so it hit it hard at derby last night and even woke up early this morning to get in a 30 minute exercise DVD. It's so funny how my energy level can be perfectly linked to my cycle lately. It's a nice reminder that hormones play a big part in mood and energy!
